Forgot my AirPods Pro and watch for the day, and I don’t always carry one of my Game Boy mods with me, but the core of it is here.

These are my essentials that are always on me when I step out the door. Adding the Day Sling to my EDC opened up my options for backups and convenient tools that I would otherwise have left at home, like a packable bag for groceries or larger items that don't fit in my pockets.

Not shown but are in the sling are a folding phone stand, pen, miscellaneous cables, an extra CR123A battery, and pocket-sized mouthwash and cologne bottles for freshening up.

I've been lurking here for so long but have never submitted, so here's what I carry whenever I leave the house.

On most days I have a backpack with a bunch of other things, but my pockets are always the same.

update for january 2016. most of my gear rides in one of my many bags, but this is what i keep on my person for running the site, managing a remote team, creating content, staying connected, and working hard on the go.

lately, i've been experimenting with carrying much of my EDC on my wrist, or attached externally using straps, carabiners, gated hardware, etc. it leaves my pockets open for rotating in gear as needed (like business cards, a OPMT, pen and notebook, and so on). it also keeps frequently used but important gear like my phone, camera, and keys both secure from drops and accessible at the same time.

future updates would be my light, knife, and keyring next. looking at the new spyderco rassenti nirvana, an olight or eagletac with a nichia LED, and the handgrey knox.

Pretty much what I carry on a daily basis. Just added the new Preon P1 to replace my Sunwayman V10R. I appreciate the slim form factor and sturdy pocket clip, it's way easier to carry than my last light.

Not all flash drives are created equal. Most have lackluster looks, small storage, slow speeds, and simply aren’t built to stand up to EDC use. This pocket SSD by VisionTek packs 120GB of solid state storage into an all-aluminum housing, allowing you to take a ton of data with you in a small amount of space. It may look like any other flash drive, but thanks to the internal tech, the VisionTek is a full-on solid state drive with USB 3.0 SuperSpeed performance. This allows up to 445MB/s read and 440MB/s write speed, making it easy and fast to access your files. Carry an entire photo library with you or back up an entire system with this rugged, keychain-ready SSD.

The refining of my daily essentials continues… I've recently picked up an Apple Watch in an attempt to stay off my phone less. I only have it ping me for the most important notifications, leaving my phone out of reach. For me, each notification is a prompt to browse my phone for 10 minutes, and I don't like it. So far, it's working. The other exciting thing in this pocket dump is the Tactile Turn Fountain Pen prototype. I've been in touch with the designer throughout the entire process and it's really awesome to finally get my hands on a working model. Since my last submission, I've swapped out the Corter Card Sleeve for one by Bellroy. It's a bit slimmer, stores more cards, and I love the easy-access slots on either side. The pull tab on top is great for retrieving cards that are in the main slot too.

My carry's finally at a place I'm happy with after making a lot of changes this year. Rotated in some old pieces like the wallet and added in some new ones like the Prometheus gear.

I take a LONG time to pick things to carry but the common themes for them are their inexpensive price, highly-regarded brands, and solid performance.

I don't really like to have a ton of stuff on me at any given time, but everything here manages to stay very close by. I find that keeping a whole bunch of bulky stuff in my pockets makes me less likely to carry what I would like to have with me. I also carry a bag (Maxpedition Pygmy Falcon II) with me to work every day that has my laptop and some other stuff in it. That's for a different dump though…

– I have yet to find a comfortable way to carry my flashlight (Sunwayman V10R) in my pocket, so the iPhone pulls double duty. I keep it in an Apple official leather case in olive brown.

– The Nakaya fountain pen is my grail pen, it's always inked up within arms reach. When that is not being carried, the small Fisher bullet pen fills in. It's very small and easily goes unnoticed in my pocket.

– The Fitbit One has been extremely helpful in losing and managing my weight. Paired with MyFitnessPal, I get an accurate snapshot of how many calories I take in vs. how many burned in a day.

– The Fuji X100T has been everywhere with me since I got it. I used to lug around a DSLR and a lens or two in a separate bag, but the X100T has great quality, it's much smaller, and I can throw it in my jacket pocket with no problems.

– I don't smoke, but I like to have a lighter on hand. I especially liked the clean design of the 1941 brass Zippo.

– The Corter cardholder has converted me from carrying a traditional bifold. I keep a business card, emergency info card, gym membership card, a few CCs and usually a $20 bill.

– The Spyderco Dice is a great knife that I recently picked up. The flipper style opening is perfect for one handed operation and it's hair-popping sharp.

– The Orient Bambino is affordable and classy looking, but it gets swapped out regularly with a Seiko SKX173 and a Timex Expedition Military Field watch. Thanks for looking!
