“If you want to get serious about shooting further, you’ll eventually need to buy a rangefinder, and if you’re into the technology, the Bushnell Elite 1 Mile ConX might be the ticket. Besides being a mouthful, the Elite 1 Mile ConX is a handheld 7X rangefinder that weighs in at 12.1 oz. It claims to range reflective targets out to one mile (hence the name) and soft fuzzy ones the size of deer out to 600 yards. It can be mounted to a tripod or slung around your neck, and takes up relatively little space in your hunting or gear bag…” (via TheTruthAboutGuns)

But for range days, hiking around, and general “beat it up” duty, Kydex is king. In my preparation for Run n Gun this year, and my a great stroke of luck at a competition prize table, I picked up a TYR Tactical Sniper Harness. It uses MOLLEwebbing as the attachment platform along the belt. Fine for things like mag pouches and various other items, but I’ve never found a MOLLE compatible holster that I liked until now…” (via TheTruthAboutGuns)

My newfound love affair with the 9mm 1911 recently landed me an STI Guardian double stack 2011. In previous reviews, I’ve gone over the benefits of why I’m liking the 9mm in the 1911. They draw fast, point fast and shoot fast, accurately. When I reviewed the veritable bullet-powered sewing machine that is the STI Tactical DS, I considered switching from carrying my single stack .45ACP 1911 EDC to that gun. Alas, the light weight of my aluminum framed 4″ gun won out for ease of carry and concealability. The answer to that? The STI Guardian… (via TheTruthAboutGuns)

Ever heard of Stendhal syndrome? It’s a condition sparked by too much choice. You’ll find sufferers in front of the spaghetti sauce section of your local supermarket, standing there, staring. You’ll find them at gun stores too. No surprise there. An aspiring gun carrier must choose from dozens of potential guns; a bewildering selection of brands, calibers, barrel lengths, actions and trigger types. Gun store salesmen are notoriously bad at helping customers navigate this thicket. So let me make this really easy… (via TheTruthAboutGuns)
