First introduced in 1996, the Leatherman Micra finds its way trending back up the charts. Despite its age the Micra still holds up today as an invaluable keychain tool thanks to its useful complement of tools, scissors-based butterfly design, and sturdy construction all in a compact package.

Most other butterfly-style multi-tools sized for your keychain feature a set of pliers as their main tool, but not everyone can get much use out of pliers at that size. Scissors, however, come in handy for all sorts of daily cutting tasks in a more discreet way than pulling out your dedicated EDC blade. With that said, the Micra still comes equipped with a small penknife, a nail file and cleaning tool, screwdrivers, a bottle opener, a ruler, and even a set of tweezers.

And like all Leatherman tools, the Micra is made in the USA and backed by a 25-year limited lifetime warranty. Grab one in your favorite of 6 color options at the link below.

Trending on our charts is a sleek Spyderco slipjoint, the Roadie. Don’t let its size fool you—with a closed length of 3″ and a blade just a hair over 2″, it still manages to handle plenty of EDC cutting tasks. The blade features Bohler N690 steel in a useful sheepsfoot shape, making it useful for slicing and scoring alike. Since it’s a slipjoint, it opens with a smaller “thumbhole” type nick in a satisfying snap.

Some jimping and a finger choil help add grip to the Roadie’s ergonomic reinforced fiberglass handle. Its combination of light weight, small size, and non-locking mechanism make it a blade you can carry in most locales, especially in bigger cities and in the UK, for example. For minimalists looking for a great barely-there EDC blade they can carry almost anywhere, check out the Roadie at the link below.

The Medford Micro Praetorian brings a completely overbuilt design quality to a manageable EDC-sized folding form factor. This little big knife features a 2.8″ long, 0.19″ thick blade in a drop point geometry and many options of steel (where available). While it might be on the shorter side of the knife spectrum, it’s still built like a tank with beefy proportions, measuring 1.25″ wide and 0.5″ total thickness. Closed, it’s just under 5″ long. Aggressive jimping on the spine of the blade and handle, combined with a G-10 or other textured scales on the show side give plenty of grip on the knife.

Elongated thumb “nicks” in the blade allow for ambidextrous deployment, securing into a beefy liner lock. An emergency glass breaker pommel and a straight pocket clip round out the details of this made-in-the-USA knife. If you prefer an overengineered, tactical EDC with a premium feel, check out the Micro Praetorian by Medford Knives at the link below.

Nitecore has consistently put out impressive flashlights, especially in the keychain space. The second-gen TIP2 comes as a marked improvement over its predecessor, sporting an aluminum body to house two Cree XP-G3 LEDs.

The new dual-LED design also doubled the TIP’s overall output from 360 to a whopping 720 lumens—an impressive benchmark for any light, let alone one that still fits on a keychain.

While its 2.46″ long and 0.5″ wide body might seem compact, it still manages to fit two electronic side switches for power and mode switching. An attachment point for a split ring makes it easy to toss the TIP2 on a keychain, while a magnetic quick-release cap grants easier access to the light without having to fumble through your keys every time.

Finally, a detachable pocket clip lets you carry the light even more ways, whether in your pocket or clipped to a hat for hands-free illumination. Check out one of the stronger new releases from Nitecore at the link below.

Swiss Army Knives have always been popular among EDCers, especially in this 91mm size. These medium-sized SAKs can serve well as a primary, non-locking EDC knife, or standalone as your entire EDC toolset in one.

The Climber in particular takes the popular features from the “Spartan” and adds an extra layer of functionality with full-size scissors and a multi-purpose hook. As the name implies, these extra functions help with mountain climbing and rope-related tasks. The rest of its toolset covers your day-to-day functions with its sharp and easy-to-maintain main blade, smaller secondary blade, combination screwdrivers and can/bottle openers, an awl and corkscrew on the back of the knife, and tweezers and toothpick in the plastic scales.

If you’re on the hunt for your next Swiss Army Knife (or just want a great way to incorporate scissors in your EDC), don’t miss this classic EDC option from Victorinox at the link below.

All too often, when you look for a pocket knife with the right modern features and performance to be your daily driver, you’ll find your EDC knife options skew towards the tactical side of things. But what’s left if you look at a tactical knife and don’t love it because it doesn’t suit your needs or style? Hunting knives offer a more traditional style, but they’re usually too big for EDC and lack standard features from modern folding knives. Leave it to Benchmade, with decades of experience in American manufacturing of both tactical and hunting knives, to fill the void with the Mini Crooked River. It’s a scaled-down and more EDC-friendly version of their original full-sized Crooked River hunting knife, which paired classic styling with premium materials and modern features.

Although it might look like it at first glance, The Mini Crooked River isn’t your grandfather’s hunting knife. You’ll find modern premium materials throughout the knife: aluminum bolsters, contour-stabilized “Dymondwood” handles, and high-vis hunter orange details in the G10 backspacer and pivot accent. It still features a classic clip-point shape on its 3.40” blade but comes in a premium CPM S30V steel.

Materials aside, the made-in-the-USA Mini Crooked River operates and performs like a modern folding knife thanks to its ambidextrous thumb stud manual deployment and AXIS lock mechanism. Slight jumping near the blade’s spine offers more control, but its otherwise smooth stabilized wood handles and sweeping lines result in an elegant overall aesthetic. Its tip-up pocket deep carry clip makes it easy to carry and retrieve, while its 4.5” closed length, 0.5” handle thickness, and 3.3 oz weight keep bulk to a minimum. For an EDC experience from Benchmade that’s less tactical and every bit as practical, check out the Mini Crooked River at the link below.

Benchmade Crooked River Mini Review

Blade

The blade is made from CPM S30V stainless steel that’s been hardened to a 58-60 HRC. Its blade steel features excellent edge retention. The blade style is a clip point, making it suitable for outdoor skinning and survival tasks.

Pocket carry

This EDC folding knife has a deep carry clip for discreet carry in any environment. Its perfect size makes it okay to carry loose in your pocket too.

Use

The Mini Crooked River is a great all-around EDC folding knife from its smart looks and blade style. Stabilized wood handles make it easy to pick up and are very comfortable even during extended use.

Overall

The stabilized wood handles give this knife a unique look when set against the sea of stainless steel and G10-handled folding knives you typically find.

Benchmade Mini Crooked River: Features

AXIS lock mechanism

The AXIS lock is Benchmade’s hallmark folding knife feature. Its ambidextrous design allows you to pick up and use this EDC knife with either hand. It also eliminates blade play even during hard use.

CPM S30V stainless steel clip point blade (58-60HRC)

CPM S30V stainless steel features excellent edge retention and a high hardness at 58-60 HRC. It has enough blade length at 3.4” to be considered full size, but it’s not so huge that you’ll find it too unwieldy as an EDC folding knife.

Anodized aluminum bolsters with contoured Dymondwood scales and stainless steel liners

The stabilized wood handles are made out of Benchmade’s “Dymondwood,” and they provide a handle material that stands out from the pack. They look great but also offer a lot of utility because of their grippy surface. The aluminum bolsters help keep this great knife lightweight overall as well.

Orange G10 backspacer and anodized aluminum pivot ring

Contrast is the name of the game when it comes to the orange G10 backspacer and the anodized aluminum pivot ring. Overall this is an EDC folding knife that realizes it’s important to look good and cut well. It will be a handsome addition to your everyday carry.

Reversible tip-up pocket clip

Just as the AXIS lock mechanism is ambidextrous, the reversible tip-up pocket clip allows for discreet everyday carry of this EDC knife in either your left or right front pocket. You can also choose to remove it if you prefer.

]]>
Father’s Day is coming up again, so starts the quest for something useful, unique, or memorable as a gift for Dad. He may already have a little bit of everything and even have his EDC dialed in, but nothing quite adds to a collection like a personalized piece of gear. A customized and one-of-a-kind knife is one he’ll appreciate and won’t soon forget. Thankfully, lifestyle and design knife brand Deejo makes all that easy and accessible with knives that you can design and get through its online platform, MyDeejo. On it, you’ll find a lot of options and choices for how you could customize Dad’s one-of-a-kind Deejo knife, turning an everyday carry staple into a unique and personalized heirloom.

Customizing a knife for your dad starts with an easy online interface. Every option you select gets reflected onto a 3D rendering of the Deejo knife, letting you preview changes and your final design. There are five different ways to customize Dad’s knife, and the first choice to make is how large you want your customized knife to be. Depending on how you think Dad will carry or use this knife, you can choose from the three sizes available, labeled 15g, 27g, and 39g—corresponding to their weight—with each one measuring 7cm, 9cm, and 11cm when closed, respectively. These different sizes have you covered, from primary EDC blade to backup knife to letter opener for his desk.

Next, you choose between three finishes for the tough and corrosion-resistant 420 stainless steel used in the knife’s blade. A classic mirror finish makes for a flashier aesthetic, but you can also go for something more subdued with the grey and black titanium options. The finish extends beyond the blade and into the knife’s lightweight and skeletonized handle frame, which integrates the liner lock mechanism for when the knife is in use.

On the blade, Deejo gives you the option of etching a decorative “tattoo” design, letting you pick from over 50 options, from mandala and art deco patterns to topographic maps and nature-themed motifs. Finding one that aligns with Dad’s passions with so many designs readily available won’t be too difficult. Whether he’s into watches, hunting, or sailing, tattooing the blade with his favorite hobby will make this gift even more special. Most cover a substantial part of the blade and create a distinct aesthetic for the knife combined with your choice of finish.

The handle scales that protect the blade’s edge when retracted can also be customized to complement or contrast your previous finishes and marking choices. Here you have the option of different types of wood, including Juniper Wood, Ebony, Coral Wood, and others, or you can go with Composite Scales displaying Carbon Fiber weave or a polished Turtle Shell look.

You can also engrave Dad’s name or a short dedication onto the handle, making for a truly memorable gift. You can always play it safe and go with Father’s Day-themed engravings like “World’s Best Dad,” “We Love You Dad,” or something similar, or get creative and add a meaningful quote. Whichever way you decide to go, one thing is for sure: no one else will have a knife like the one you make.

When you’re all done with your choices, you can click a button to see how your design looks when the knife is closed and another to share your concept design on social media, giving your friends or even Dad a preview before you fully commit to your plan. It usually takes Deejo five business days minimum to build and ship the knife when you do. Every Deejo knife ships from France, so make sure to get your design finalized with enough time to allow Deejo to deliver your knife before Father’s Day, especially if you add options like a sheath or sharpener. With so many ways to customize this knife, there’s a Deejo design just right for Dad. Build one up now by checking out the link to MyDeejo below.

]]>
The days of needing to lug around a big, bulky flashlight to have hundreds of lumens of lighting in your EDC are long gone. Flashlight makers like Nitecore pushed the envelope of what a flashlight small enough to fit on your keychain could do for years now, starting with their groundbreaking Tube light. Since then, they’ve raised the bar even higher with their latest keychain light, the Nitecore TINI 2. It takes some of the best features from their previous keychain flashlights, like an OLED display, dual-switch interface, and USB-C charging, and fits it all in a design that’s smaller than a car fob. Even better, it’s now available in premium and collectible titanium and stainless steel.

True to its name, the TINI 2 is quite small. It measures 1.83“ in length and weights only 0.66 oz, so you’ll barely feel it in your keychain or pockets. The shell is made out of an aluminum alloy with an HA III military-grade anodization. This gives it an IP54 rating for water resistance and 1 meter of impact resistance. Moving on to its performance, the TINI 2 surpasses its predecessor with a maximum output of 500 lumens, a substantial upgrade over the original’s 380 lumen output. This is thanks to the use of two OSRAM P8 LEDs, powered by a built-in 280mAh lithium-ion battery. For added convenience, you can recharge the battery via USB-C.

The TINI 2 features 5 different modes which you can access via its dual button set up. These brightness modes are conveniently spaced for general EDC use, starting at a 1-lumen ultra-low, a 15-lumen Low, 65-lumen Medium, 200-lumen High, and a maximum output of 500 lumens on Turbo. You can access these modes by pressing the “Power” button and cycling through them with the “Mode“ button. Whenever you cycle to a new mode, the OLED display will indicate which mode you are on and exactly how much runtime you have left. The TINI 2 also features two different lockout modes to prevent accidental activation of the light, helping preserve battery and your night vision. Pressing and holding the power button activates either mode: the first one prevents the light from being turned on except for the Turbo mode, which can be accessed by pressing the ”Mode“ button. The second one completely locks the light, which is great for long term storage.

Some other notable features include a built-in Advanced Temperature Regulation to prevent it from over-heating, a stainless steel keychain ring which can withstand up to 66lbs of weight, overcharge and short-circuit protection, and the fact that you can use it while it’s recharging. You can pick one up in all four colorways including the new titanium and stainless steel options at the link below.

As an EDCer you probably already know the value of carrying and using your knife. But to really get the most out of your blade, it pays to keep it sharp and well maintained. For Tool Tuesday, this compact ceramic knife sharpener from Victorinox, makes of the Swiss Army Knife, was trending this past week.

Its form factor lets it carry similar to a pen, complete with cap and pocket clip. But once opened, you have both a grinding stone rod and a ceramic notch. The grinding stone features angles and a coarser grit to do most of the sharpening, leaving you with a medium edge. The ceramic notch lets you refine the edge to get it razor sharp, or just to get a quick touch up on your blade after some light cutting tasks.

A sharp blade is a safe one, so if you use your knife often and want to keep it maintained on the go, check out one of these pen-sized sharpeners at the link below.

Update (1/30): The do-it-all GR2 26L is back in black!

If you’ve been around the world of everyday carry, you’ve probably heard of GORUCK’s practically bombproof ruckpacks, like the GR2. The formula is quite simple: take a no-frills silhouette for an EDC backpack, give it the right amount of space and a plethora of internal customization features, and build it to last with CORDURA brand nylon that will take far more of a beating than your standard bookbag. The result is a wildly popular pack that can sometimes be hard to get a hold of. Luckily they’ve restocked 500D versions of their iconic GR2 rucks in three different sizes in case you’ve missed your chance to pick them up before. These GR2s offer a more supple feel and lighter weight thanks to the lower denier 500D nylon while still retaining plenty of abrasion- and weather-resistance that make them great for daily carry.

The 26L GR2 in 500D black Multicam has a “broken in” feel that’s less rigid compared to the standard 1000D composition you find in most of their bags. This gives the bag more flexibility when you move around, and it also helps prevent it from abrading the clothes you wear if you have wardrobe items that are prone to pilling. The 26L has the same height as the original 21L GR1 bag, but it adds 5 extra useful liters of capacity in the front compartment thanks to the quick access field pocket.

If you need a bit more space, the 34L version of the 500D GR2 has also been restocked in coyote brown and tropic Multicam. This extra space makes it ideal for one-bag situations like weekend trips and extended stays away from home. It’s also a great choice if your daily loadout maxes out the space in a standard day pack or laptop case.

With all of the supply chain issues lately, it’s a good idea to jump at the chance to grab the gear you want when you see it available while you still can. These bags are available today, so make sure to click the link below and secure one for yourself before they’re gone.

If there’s one thing that any EDCer can appreciate, it’s versatility. The more you can do with the same amount of gear, the better. A great example of a tool that can rise to the occasion in a wide range of situations is the RovyVon Angel Eyes E3 hybrid flashlight. Now in its second iteration, the Angel Eyes E3 boasts a compact size, two power sources, dual LEDs, and four different emitter configurations to make it one of the most versatile flashlights in its class. If you need some flexibility in not only the output of your flashlight but also how you power it, you should have your eyes on the E3.

Unlike most flashlights on the market right now, the Angel Eyes E3 features a dual-battery setup making it easier to make sure your light’s topped up and ready to go, whether you’re traveling or during an emergency. It can powered by its built-in, USB-C rechargeable LiPO battery or by a single AAA battery. The former is convenient for daily use when you can charge the light at the end of the day, whereas commonly available AAA batteries are quicker to use in an emergency.

Both of these power sources will power its dual LED setup, available in four different configurations. You’ll get to choose between x2 Cool white LEDs, x2 High CRI Warm White LEDs, a mix of the previous two and even a Cool white + Red LED combo.

In its most powerful configuration, the Angel Eyes E3 is able to put out up to 700 lumens, for 3 minutes before stepping down to 150 lumens, an impressive task for a light this small. Available through its single-button interface, you’ll be able to cycle between a 100 lumen Medium, a 10 lumen low and a 0.5 lumen Moonlight and even a Strobe mode as well.

One final aspect of the Angel Eyes E3’s versatility is its portability. At only 2.6“ long, 0.53” thick and weighing 1.1 ounces, it can ride on your keychain via its keyring attachment point or carry more traditionally in your pocket with an included removable pocket clip. Despite its smaller size, it’s sturdy enough for EDC thanks to a 6063 aluminum construction and IPX7-rated water resistance. Available in Aqua Blue, Orange, Green, Black and gunmetal you can pick one up at the link below.

]]>
The original CRKT Squid designed by custom knifemaker Lucas Burnley became a community favorite EDC pocket knife when it was introduced in years past thanks to its practical design that was well-suited for hard use. It was the kind of knife that gave you the confidence to take on tasks much larger than its size in your pocket. In 2022, CRKT has given the venerable Squid some upgrades, resulting in the larger and even more heavy-duty version: the Squid XM. With a larger size, some ergonomic and quality of life improvements, and better materials, this new version of the Squid is a great choice for everyday carry whether you’re upgrading from the original or just starting out on your gear journey.

The new Squid XM is sized up from the original, with a 2.95″ blade and a closed length of 4.11″ in your pocket. The extended drop-point blade has a well-defined point and enough thickness at 0.11″ that you can be confident it won’t crumple under pressure. The blade steel has also been improved with D2 tool steel at the core, which exhibits superior hardness to the original 2015 Squid (more recently, CRKT also made a D2 version of the Squid). Deployment of that blade is much easier compared to the original as well, as the Squid XM features a spring-assisted one-handed flipper opening made even more smooth with IKBS ball bearings in the pivot. The ambidextrous thumbstuds still feature on this knife if you prefer that style of opening as well. And where the original featured smooth stainless steel handles on both sides of the knife, the Squid XM features grippy G10 scales on one side and a stonewashed stainless steel frame lock on the other for sure function under heavy use.

With so much gear and so few pockets, what’s an EDCer to do? You could carry a bag around or try to pare down your carry to fewer items, but those solutions often come with their own set of problems. It’s a dilemma all too familiar to the folks at SCOTTeVEST, who produce apparel with pockets galore for those of us who carry a bit more than the average Joe. They’ve taken all their experience from hiding pockets in stylish clothes for over 20 years and brought it to their newest jacket specifically designed for everyday carry: the SCOTTeVEST EDC Jacket. With 30 pockets total and technical performance to match, this might be the last jacket you’ll need for your EDC.

If it’s part of your carry, there’s a spot for it in the SCOTTeVEST EDC Jacket, thanks to its 11 pockets on the exterior and 19 more inside. The exterior pockets are optimized to access items you need frequently or at a moment’s notice. Zippered side-entry hand pockets secure smaller items, like keys (which can be conveniently clipped to an integrated loop for even more security). High-volume chest pockets accommodate larger, bulkier items and comfortably distribute load for otherwise unwieldy things, like a water bottle. The other chest pockets can accommodate a concealed carry, while a small zip pocket on the sleeve can stash away essentials you want separate from where you’d put your hands.

The inside of the jacket is where SCOTTeVEST can really flex its organizational muscle to set it apart from your run of the mill tactical jacket. With 19 pockets cleverly distributed throughout the interior, it can effectively take the place of a travel bag so you can have more gear with you while carrying less. Each pocket is carefully specialized for common EDC and travel items, too. For example, you have a phone pocket on either side, multiple pen slots, an RFID-protected pocket for your wallet or passport, a tablet sleeve, a soft sunglasses pocket, and a camera compartment, just to name a few.

With so many pockets, it’s important that the jacket is properly loaded and balanced. Careful sizing and positioning of the pockets work together with SCOTTeVEST’s weight management system to distribute the load evenly and comfortably across your shoulders. The pockets and fabric also prevent the items from “printing,” or showing their outline through your clothes, so you can carry confidently and discreetly.

Pockets aside, the jacket’s design and materials make it functional as a three-season jacket. It’s made of a 92% poly/8% spandex matte softshell fabric, which dries quicker and offers a comfortable amount of stretch compared to organic materials like cotton. The matte softshell provides some warmth and water resistance, while its stand collar and adjustable cuffs help seal out wind. Half-zips with snap button closures at either side of the jacket extend down to the hem for easier access to your pants pockets, waistband, or CCW as well.

The SCOTTeVEST EDC Jacket is available in Black for both men and women and in a wide range of sizes (from S-XXXLT). If you like to be prepared but don’t want to resort to carrying a bag, this jacket might be what you’ve been looking for. You can pick one up from SCOTTeVEST at the link below.

While many options exist for extremely durable bags, watches, and plenty other EDC gear, wallets are a different story. It’s a bit odd considering they carry your (arguably) most important and valuable essentials. Sure you can find wallets made of metal or carbon fiber to keep your cards protected from accidental drops or even RFID-skimming, but once water enters the equation, all bets are off. If you’re the type of EDCer who doesn’t leave the security of their valuables up to chance, you probably know of the brand Pelican. They make some of the best storage solutions for gear that’s absolutely worth protecting, like expensive cameras and outdoor survival gear. Now, they’ve brought their expertise in manufacturing overbuilt, bombproof cases to your pocket with the G5 RF Field Wallet. It’s a crushproof, waterproof, and even “hackerproof” solution to store your most valuable essentials.

The G5 RF Field Wallet looks less like your traditional bifold wallet and more like an impenetrable shell, constructed with an aircraft grade aluminum exterior. The lightweight metal helps shave grams to keep it pocket friendly while lending to the wallet’s water-, crush- and impact resistance. It also helps it fend off RFID signals, blocking attempts to steal your personal information from cards you’re carrying.

The wallet goes beyond material choices to offer this level of protection, too. The clamshell design keeps shut with a secure snap-latch system that inspires confidence when closed and requires deliberate force to disengage. This closure mechanism, combined with a gasketed O-ring seal, makes the wallet waterproof to an IP67 rating, allowing it to withstand submersion in water for up to 1 meter for about 30 minutes. Both the latch and the hinge of the wallet use steel pins, rather than aluminum or brass ones like you’d find on similar offerings, to ensure maximum durability at potential failure points with moving parts.

Once you open the wallet it lays flat in a vertical layout, offering two storage compartments lined with a soft and grippy elastomer material to carry your items. The top compartment features an elastomeric strap, ready to carry your credit, debit and ID cards. The bottom section keeps smaller items like folded cash, loose change, or a spare key in check with a perforated elastomer “mesh” pocket. Last but not least, a rear rubber cash strap provides additional external storage for cash overflow and quick access to things that need less protection.

The G5 RF Field Wallet features a built-in lanyard attachment point and included wrist lanyard for added security and multiple carry options wherever your adventures take you. Keep your money and information protected from water, virtual thieves and heavy impact with the Pelican G5 RF Field Wallet. It’s available in Black or Silver for $39.95 exclusively from Pelican at the link below.

Ever since its introduction, the CEO has been one of CRKT’s most sought-after everyday carry knives. And even if you aren’t a CEO, the way you can get things done with this sleek gentleman’s knife might make you feel like one. It’s all thanks to its practical cutting power combined with its streamlined design that make it a great choice for daily carry and special occasions alike. In case you haven’t picked up a CEO in hopes of a more premium blade steel or an even pocket-friendlier design, CRKT has you covered. The new CRKT Compact CEO features a premium CPM-S35VN stainless steel blade, upgraded carbon fiber handles, and a more proportional blade length befitting its namesake.

CRKT Compact CEO

The Compact CEO vastly improves on the original knife with an S35VN stainless steel blade that offers superior hardness and cutting power. With S35VN stainless steel, you can achieve a sharper edge that will last for longer when compared to the original blade’s 8Cr13MoV composition. This makes for a smaller knife and it’s especially compelling if you have to abide by a blade length restriction as well. It also means that you get better cutting performance despite the blade being sized down to 2.62″ compared to the original blade’s 3.11″ length.

Original CEO vs Compact CEO size comparison

The flipper action also makes for an easy one handed opening compared to the original manual thumbstud, and the low-profile index flipper tab doesn’t break up the streamlined look of the blade and there’s a strong bias towards closure that helps ensure the blade doesn’t open while it’s in your pockets. But once you pull it out of its deep carry position, the IKBS ball bearings in the pivot make for a clean and crisp action that’s a joy to use. Another big improvement that the new Compact CEO brings to the table is the use of carbon fiber in the scales which lends the Compact CEO a vastly improved modern gent’s knife aesthetic.

Compact CEO features carbon fiber scales with contrasting liners.

With the CRKT Compact CEO, you have the ultimate version of this community-favorite knife. CRKT managed to take something great and improve upon the formula even more, with looks as sharp as it can cut. If the new Compact CEO interests you, make sure to click the link below to buy one today direct from CRKT’s web store.

Our readers had their eye on the Leatherman Raptor multi-purpose shears this past week. While a set of trauma shears might not be the kind of tool you’d initially picture when you think of a Leatherman, they can be an essential part of an emergency services personnel’s carry, first aid kit, or in emergency bag. Some of our readers even vouch for its everyday functionality as well for tasks around the house or outdoors. That’s because the Raptor offers a unique toolset in its 420HC stainless steel medical shears, ring cutter, oxygen wrench, rescue hook/seatbelt cutter, and carbide glass breaker tip.

These US-made shears also collapse down to a compact 5″ length and come equipped with a pocket clip for ease of carry. For easier access and quicker deployment, you can also carry the Raptor in its open configuration with Leatherman’s included polymer holster for a belt or PALS webbing. The Leatherman Raptor now comes in several new colors as well, ranging from your typical tactical tones to hi-vis green, blue, or red options. Check them all out at the link below.

If you missed out on our latest collaboration, the Manhattan Portage Atlas Sling V2, now’s your last chance to grab the limited Red color or Olive color for your EDC. Both of these new limited colors are down to the last few remaining units with no restocks planned currently. You can secure the bag and save 20% off with promo code EDC20 at checkout, but just note that your orders will most likely arrive after the holidays. Better late than never though, right?

Here’s the rundown on this new limited colorway: rich red CORDURA ballistic nylon makes up the exterior, contrasted with black hardware and trim for vibrant color blocking that gives the bag a fresh look and feel. It’s both stylish and functional, whether you want to add color to your urban EDC, round out an outfit, or build out a high-visibility first aid kit.

Atlas Sling V2 in red, profile view and interior

The Atlas Sling V2 works well as both a cross-body sling bag or as a gear pouch (the V2 can now also pull triple duty as a handlebar bike bag) thanks to its modular hybrid design. It’s designed to be a slim, low-profile sling bag for managing pocket overflow when you want to load up on the essentials but don’t need a full-sized bag for the day. Internally, it’s lined with multiple elastic gear loops for securing EDC gear and keeping cords and cables tidied up and tangle-free. The removable strap also stows away into the bag itself so you can toss the Atlas Sling V2 into your main EDC bag for extra internal organization. Last but not least, tuck-away handlebar straps let you attach the bag to your bike in a pinch as a convenient way to carry on your bike commute.

You can learn more about the Atlas Sling V2 and see it in action in our original announcement post. For a deeper dive into its design, materials, and recommended use cases, buckle up for my full video review of the bag on YouTube. While the Atlas Sling V2 was recently restocked, be sure to pick one up as the Black colorway are in high demand and the new red color is a limited run. As a reader of the site, you can save 20% off your order of the Atlas Sling V2 by using promo code EDC20 at checkout.

Orbitkey ID Card Holder System https://everydaycarry.com/orbitkey-id-card-holder-system/ Wed, 22 Sep 2021 18:40:00 +0000 https://everydaycarry.com/orbitkey-id-card-holder-system/ While it might not be the first to come to mind when you think of an everyday carry,…

While it might not be the first to come to mind when you think of an everyday carry, an ID badge card is absolutely essential for people in a workplace where they need to show credentials. Even if that doesn’t apply to your work situation, the growing use of RFID card access in public transport systems as well as access card entry to apartments and other buildings all point to the need for a better way to carry an ID card. Unfortunately, run-of-the-mill ID lanyards tends to be flimsy, unwieldy to wear, and inconvenient to use. After devising clever ways to carry challenging yet necessary items like your keys and hand sanitizer, Orbitkey designed their new ID Card Holder System as the brand’s next premium, elegant solution for an everyday carry need.

They successfully completed their crowdfunding campaign back in February, and after six months of development and production, the system can soon be in your hands.

The Orbitkey ID Card Holder is built for your convenience and privacy in mind. Its user-friendly design integrates a retractable lanyard that lets you easily extend the card out while ensuring you don’t drop it as you go about your daily business. That clip is also easily reversible, letting you hide the details of your credential from prying eyes when you exit the premises. And for added storage you can pick up the Pro version of the ID Card Holder, giving you an extra RFID protected slot for a payment card.

The Orbitkey ID Card Holder has an understated elegance with its premium leather finish that makes it great for a professional work environment. It’s not industrially-milled metal or made of tactical nylon fabric, too. If you don’t like wearing your ID around your neck, you can detach the lanyard entirely and clip the ID Card Holder to your belt or bag. Either way, it’s built to allow easy RFID access to the data on the chip in your ID card, letting you in and out of buildings, and it will work great with transit and bus cards too.

Orbitkey is a community-favorite designer and manufacturer with a proven track record of delivering quality, considered goods that make a difference when added to your everyday carry. Their Orbitkey ID Card Holder System is innovative, and worth your attention. And even if you are still working from home, you can pick one of these up to be ready for the new (new) normal once things get back on track for us all. Both models of the system should be available starting October 6th at Orbitkey’s site at the link below.

The CIVIVI Elementum has been a community-favorite choice for everyday carry over the past year or so, but if you’ve been holding back on giving this folding knife a try because you’re a stickler for high-end premium blade steel, the new BladeHQ exclusive edition of this knife is made for you. That’s because this new release adds CPM-S35VN stainless steel into the mix, mated with a gorgeous natural G10 handle scale that contrasts well with the stonewash finish of the blade itself. The Elementum was always a capable knife, but with this upgrade it’s even more equipped to help you take on any situation.

The use of S35VN lets you get maximum performance out of the CIVIVI Elementum’s 2.625“ hollow-ground blade forged in a drop-point shape for all-around great performance at cutting, slicing, and piercing utility tasks. The premium metallurgy lets you achieve a sharp edge on the blade that lasts for longer despite day in and day out use. This means less time sharpening the knife and more time being able to use it for your everyday needs. For this upgrade, the blade stock measures thinner as well, improving its overall slicing performance. Jimping on the spine of the blade and below the flipper tab afford a secure grip during rough use or more delicate control for precision work. The blade is available in two different stonewash finishes, including a sleek black look that looks especially striking pared with the grippy natural G10 handle scales.

Deploying the blade is quick and easy thanks to a convenient rear flipper tab, making it ideal for fidgeting as well as fast cutting tasks. It locks into stainless steel liners, finished to tonally match blade and hardware color for a cohesive look. An included tip-up pocket clip carries the knife deeply and discreetly for easy EDC, while a built-in attachment point opens up customization options for lanyards, beads, and more.

And even if you already have an CIVIVI Elementum of your own, this exclusive edition is the definitive version of the knife with the best steel that’s ever been sported on this knife and it’s well worth picking up. And due to the limited nature of this exclusive release, you’re going to want to do that sooner rather than later or else you risk it running out once the supply runs out. So make sure to click the link below and secure one for yourself today.
