Victorinox Farmer X Alox Damast Limited Edition 2024

If you want to stand out from the pack, it’s always a good idea to check the limited editions regularly put out by Victorinox. Take the new Farmer X Alox Damast Limited Edition, for example, which builds an elegant black and steel tone knife with an added touch of brilliance and a Damasteel folding blade.

The Farmer X Alox Damast Limited Edition takes the rugged and useful design of the Farmer X, with its serrated saw blade and screwdrivers, and elevates it with the Alox metal scales (with a color exclusively for 2024), which add additional durability and grip to the Swiss Army Knife. But the true star of the show is the 115-layer Damasteel blade that has a unique Hakkapella pattern with a hardness grade of 60 HRC, making it tougher than the standard SAK. What you get is a blade that looks as sharp as it can cut and a premium feel that’s a cut above the standard Farmer X, making it a great choice if you’re looking to add to your daily rotation. It’s limited to 7,000 sequentially numbered pieces worldwide so don’t wait too long if you want to get it.

NESTOUT Rugged Power Banks

It can also act as a temporary charging hub so you can charge your devices and the battery simultaneously. Its modular design enhances its compatibility with NESTOUT’s custom-fit accessories, offering you a seamless and versatile ecosystem to keep your gear powered up wherever you go.

Additional power bank sizes are available as well, including 10000mAh and 5000mAh versions, each providing the same rugged reliability in a more compact form. If you’re outdoors and need to recharge, NESTOUT’s solar chargers come in two- and four-panel options, generating up to 28W of solar power to keep your devices charged using the power of the sun. At the time of this publication, NESTOUT is offering various discounts on these power banks and their accessories so check it out.

The James Brand The Chapter 2 – Exclusive

A decade ago, The James Brand was launched with the release of the Chapter pocket knife, making waves in the EDC community and setting a new standard for pocket knife design and functionality. Building on the design of the original knife in an exclusive collaboration with Huckberry, TJB presents a redesigned Chapter 2 Pocket Knife in striking black and outdoor orange accents that serve both style and utility.

This Chapter 2 exclusive features a high-quality S35VN stainless steel blade, known for its exceptional durability and sharpness, and a lightweight titanium handle. At 6.45” in length, it strikes the perfect balance for everyday carry. Notable upgrades include a subtle curvature in the blade for precise cutting, a tip-up carry orientation for quicker access, and a fully machined titanium pocket clip for secure and convenient storage. The knife’s smooth folding mechanism ensures safe and effortless handling, while the Huckberry co-branded label adds a unique touch. The Chapter 2 pocket knife embodies a decade of TJB’s evolution, and seeing how far the brand has come in the past decade, we are beyond excited to see what the next decade holds.

Wuben X2Pro

Wuben has once again raised the bar with the X2Pro, a significant upgrade to their popular X2 model, designed to meet the needs of both outdoor enthusiasts and everyday users. This compact flashlight sports an impressive dual-mode main light featuring four LED groups that deliver an impressive 1,500 lumens. Its innovative composite lens system combines spotlight and floodlight capabilities, controlled by an intuitive rotary switch, ensuring you have the right type of illumination for any situation, and the included 400-lumen RGB side light further enhances the functionality of this flashlight, making it suitable for emergency signaling and navigation.

Crafted from high-quality materials, the X2Pro boasts a durable, ergonomic design. This flashlight is powered by replaceable 14500 batteries, with a unique parallel design that allows it to operate optimally, even with just one battery, ensuring you have light when you need it. It has two mechanical buttons—a toggle switch and rotary knob— for reliable, intuitive operation, a magnetic tail base for hands-free use, and compatibility with an ARC Guide Rail Buckle for helmet-mounting, perfect for industrial workers, firefighters, and outdoor enthusiasts. This flashlight also features an adjustable 20-degree tilt for optimal lighting angles and a robust back clip for portability. With Type-C fast charging and compatibility with AA batteries for flexibility, the Wuben X2Pro is a compact, reliable, and powerful tool, perfect for everyday carry, outdoor adventures, and tactical missions.

Thanks to an already funded and massively successful campaign, backers now also have the option to choose between RGB or a new 365nm, 2W UV option for the auxiliary side light, while still maintaining the original price of $39.99. There’s still plenty of time to back this extremely affordable but fully-packed flashlight, so check out the ongoing Kickstarter campaign at the link below.

CRKT Nucleus Frame Lock Knife

CPM MagnaCut is one of the most sought-after steels for EDC enthusiasts who demand the best out of their pocket knives, and CRKT incorporates it beautifully in their Nucleus Frame Lock Knife. Designed by custom knifemaker Princeton Wong, the Nucleus is inspired by the mecha robots from the Mobile Suit Gundam series, which is reflected in the knife’s futuristic design. The Nucleus weighs only 2.30 oz thanks partly to its titanium and carbon fiber handle, making it both strong and lightweight. It can be easily deployed in three different ways – using the front flipper, rear flipper, or the finger hole in the blade – thanks to its smooth IKBS ball-bearing pivot.

Besides its eye-catching aesthetics; the Nucleus is built for serious performance. Its frame lock utilizes a thick lock bar to ensure that the blade remains secure during rigorous use. The 3.23” blade, crafted from MagnaCut steel, offers best-in-class performance with exceptional toughness, wear resistance, and corrosion resistance. The blade’s stonewashed finish and distinctive milling, along with the drilled holes for added flair, make this knife stand out in any collection. Available in additional material options such as 12C27 steel with a stainless steel handle and G10 overlay, the Nucleus caters to various preferences while maintaining its attractive design and functionality.

Skullcandy The Active Collection

Skullcandy’s active collection of sports earbuds is designed to endure sweat, water, dust, dirt, and the inevitable rough treatment that comes with an active lifestyle. The collection features three robust players: the Push ANC Active, Sesh ANC Active, and Push Play Active. Each earbud is crafted to meet the specific needs and budget of athletes and adventurers alike.

The Push ANC Active were designed for those who don’t hold back. These earbuds come with every feature you need, including comfortable, low-profile ear hangers, fully waterproof construction, adjustable Stay-Aware Mode, and 4-Mic Active Noise Canceling to keep you focused and in the zone. With 58 hours of total battery life and rapid charge capabilities, they are built to last through the longest workouts.

The Sesh ANC Active comes with a total battery life of 48 hours and fully waterproof construction, these earbuds are designed for all-day use. The Fit Grip design keeps them securely in place, whether you’re at home or on the move. Adjustable 4-Mic Active Noise Canceling helps you stay in the zone, and features like Google Fast Pair, multipoint pairing, and Spotify Tap enhance your experience when you’re not on the go. The Sesh ANC Active earbuds adapt seamlessly from high-energy activities to relaxation, making them the most versatile choice for those who do it all.

The Push Play Active earbuds cater to any active lifestyle, in any weather and any condition. They boast 34 hours of playtime and rapid charge, ensuring they keep up with you. With secure, low-profile ear hangers and an IP55 water and dust-resistant rating, these earbuds are built for durability. They handle sweat, rain, dusty trails, and occasional falls with ease. Flexible over-ear hangers ensure a comfortable fit, no matter how intense the session.

WE Knife Zizzit

Modern high-end knife designs all tend to feature premium durable steels hardened for excellent cutting potential and maximum sharpness. Their blade shapes are both an aesthetic and functional choice because they are one of the primary determinants of the overall ergonomic ease of use for the pocket knife. But designs that take the time to feature a compound edge on the blade itself are relatively rare. The new WE Knife ZIzzit flipper knife adds to this select few, with a special CPM-20CV blade that’s been optimized for your everyday carry needs.

Where most blades feature one style of blade grind, the We Knife Zizzit features a compound edge, with a hollow-ground belly and a flat ground tip for the blade. The combination drop point and spear point edge blade is a result of this design choice, which gives the belly increased slicing capability while enhancing the piercing performance and rigidity of the tip of the knife. The flat grind of the tip also makes it easier to touch up and repair independently in case of damage during regular use. With a 3.8” overall length, sturdy button lock, and titanium hardware, you’re going to find a lot of use for the We Knife Zizzit when you add it to your everyday carry loadout.

Arcane Design Co. VULT

Words by Mikey Bautista, Managing Editor

The EDC market is gigantic, especially more so for knives, so having a unique and standout design language is certainly cause for pause and further exploration. I came across Arcane Design Co. off a random Instagram feed, and visiting their site and digging deeper into their catalog, I learned quickly that Israel Bacchus—founder and designer—had that special sauce. His love for sci-fi, classic horror, and exploration of the unknown rings true as inspirations in his designs, and his knives (like the VULT launching by the time you read this on Friday the 28th) are some of the most distinct and futuristic I’ve seen yet, while staying cohesive within his particular style.

The VULT comes as his latest design, a collaboration with Brian Brown whom we recently saw work with CIVIVI on the new ExOne. It’s got all the hallmarks of a wicked custom hawkbill, including a 3.25″ M390 blade that nestles within a titanium handle. It deploys via its slot or front-flipping jimping, riding on caged bearings and stopping with an inset steel liner lock. The star of the show is a teal-anodized full-body inlay, perfectly accenting the darker gray and coated tones of the steel and handle. Like other Arcane Design knives, the VULT will come in a couple of finishes, and will be a limited release for $340.

If you missed the VULT and still want to explore Israel’s designs, he suggests taking a look at the CREATURE, one of his signature models. As its name says, it’s a beast of a knife with a 3.75″ 20CV compound tanto or drop point in a few finishes including a dressed-up Damasteel variant. It’s a beefy frame lock flipper with a titanium handle to match (with a geometric design and custom pivot collar, naturally), and I couldn’t imagine a more fitting name.

Being a smaller operation with unique, desirable designs, Arcane Designs’ knives tend to sell out, so be sure to keep an eye out on their Instagram and sign up to the newsletter for the latest on their drops.

Light Phone III

In a world filled with distractions, the Light Phone III is a mobile phone designed around simplicity and purpose, helping you become the most thoughtful and intentional version of yourself. If you’re seeking to be more present with your family and friends, or even if you’re purchasing your very first phone, the phone’s intuitive features and minimalist design make “going light” easier than ever.

Equipped with a robust metal frame, the Light Phone III is built to last. You can forget about planned obsolescence as well, with improved repairability thanks to an accessible battery and an easier-to-replace screen and USB port. The phone includes an NFC chip, USB-C port, fingerprint ID, a flashlight, and a clickable wheel for quick adjustments. Inspired by classic point-and-shoot cameras, its dedicated two-step shutter button ensures you capture moments with ease. Sustainability is a big factor here as well, as the Light Phone III uses Sony SORPLAS recycled plastic for its battery cover and speaker grill. Its large matte OLED display enhances usability without adding unnecessary distractions, and a custom wider screen makes texting and using LightOS tools a breeze.

While tools like an alarm, a timer, a calculator, a calendar, a directory, directions, notes/voice memos, and a music player are included, there are currently no plans to include support for other messaging platforms or a web browser—and we’re ok with that. Ready to take the plunge? Pre-order now and get it at 50% off until July 15.

Kizer Smolt

After the success of the Kizer Militaw, knife maker Jonathan Styles applies a similar design language to his new creation, the Kizer Smolt fixed knife. It features a CPM-3V steel blade that we don’t often see in a lot of knives at this price point. 3V steel is highly wear-resistant and boasts superior hardness, ensuring it withstands the most demanding conditions without a scratch.

But it’s not just about the blade—the handle of the Kizer Smolt is equally impressive. It features a Micarta inlay on a G-10 base (a seamless union, at least on our unit), offering the perfect blend of aesthetics and functionality. The handle’s design includes four grooves to enhance grip, making it comfortable and secure to hold. With an overall length of 6.5” and a weight of just 3.16 oz, the knife is compact yet robust, perfectly balanced for everyday use. The versatility of its drop-point blade shape and curved handle allows it to handle various tasks with ease, making it a great all-arounder for outdoor enthusiasts, campers, hunters, and EDC aficionados alike.

Jeep x Marathon Watch Series

Marathon is a leader in making military-style watches and true timepieces for the Canadian and American armed forces. They also sell these watches to the public. This year, they’ve partnered with Jeep, another brand with a rich military heritage, to make a collection of watches centered around the iconic Willys Jeep. This vehicle was a mainstay combat vehicle for decades before becoming the basis for the off-road adventure Jeeps you’ll find on the roads and trails today. Whether you’re a Jeep owner, a fan of either of the two brands’ rich military heritage or just a collector of great field and military watches, this collection has much to offer.

The Marathon Jeep Willys collection starts with the Officer’s Series field watches, the SSGPM and SSGPQ. These 41-mm timepieces feature a 316L stainless steel case with a parkerized finish to reduce reflectivity. Depending on your needs, they can be equipped with either a Swiss Selita mechanical movement or an ETA precision quartz movement. There are also the Jeep GSAR and TSAR dive watches in the collection for excursions that require more water resistance and low-light visibility. Aside from the 300M water resistance and always-tritium lume, the dials on both watches feature a red line on the dial and a grille on the crown to add a bit of flair to the vehicles’ design elements.

Benchmade Necron 99 Balisongs

Benchmade has recently released the Necron 99, a balisong (butterfly knife) designed for recreational use and built to modern standards of flipping performance. It’s the brand’s return to their original product line (it’s why the Benchmade logo is a butterfly) since the release of the 85 series in 2020. The latest generation sports a flat-ground scimitar-style 4.59” clip-point blade—live or in a blunt and skeletonized trainer option—crafted from CPM S30V stainless steel (440C for the trainer) with a stonewashed finish, promising exceptional durability, sharpness, and scratch resistance. It also features specially textured G-10 handles that are extendable, with adjustable tungsten weights for customizing and fine-tuning the balance for your flipping style.

Weighing just 4.21 oz, the Necron 99 provides a balanced, agile performance with just the perfect heft for fast and controlled maneuvers. The smooth washer pivots and latchless design ensure an uninterrupted flipping experience and a secure locking mechanism. This USA-made modern butterfly knife is a welcome addition to Benchmade’s storied history with the traditional knife platform, and a must-have for any collector who’s has been following the brand with the butterfly mark all these years.

SENCUT Excalis

With the plethora of crossbar lock designs on most everyday carry knives, it’s refreshing to see a liner-locking flipper folding knife arrive to buck the trend. The blacked-out SENCUT Excalis features a tactical look and a beefy blade with a hybrid shape that makes it great for slicing and piercing through rough material.

SENCUT calls this 2.97″ 9Cr18MoV stainless steel blade a reverse tanto shape, but it has a pronounced slicing belly and a spear-point tip that allows the front of the knife to remain thin for precision work while expanding to a full 3mm of thickness at the spine for heavy-duty work. The flat ground blade opens with a flipper tab, and the caged ceramic ball bearings in the pivot make for a smooth experience. After you finish with it, you can fold it into its stainless steel handle with G10 scales and either carry it tip-up in its ambidextrous pocket clip or store it in the included pouch for safekeeping.

Benchmade’s New MagnaCut Knives Aren’t Afraid of the Water

Benchmade produces some of our all-time favorite knives, so there are a lot of reasons to be excited about these two releases: the Benchmade Adira MagnaCut folding knife and its smaller sibling, the Benchmade Mini Adira. Starting with the larger Adira, it features a 3.9” drop point blade crafted from CPM MagnaCut stainless steel offering unparalleled durability and superior corrosion resistance. The Adira is thoughtfully designed with high-visibility Depth Blue Grivory handle scales and an orange thumb stud opener, ensuring quick deployment even in challenging conditions. The ambidextrous AXIS Lock mechanism provides secure and effortless locking, while the deep-carry pocket clip allows for discreet and convenient tip-up carry.

The Benchmade Mini Adira folding knife offers the same features as its larger counterpart but in a more compact size. With a 3.2” drop point blade made from the same high-performance MagnaCut steel, the Mini Adira is perfect for those who prefer a smaller yet equally reliable tool. It features a smaller handle (4.25” vs 5.12”) with similar Depth Blue Grivorly handle scales that provide a comfortable grip. Weighing just 3.09 oz., the Mini Adira combines lightweight convenience with the power and precision Benchmade knives are known for, making it an indispensable piece for everyday carry enthusiasts and outdoor adventurers alike. These knives are designed to excel in wet environments, so if you’ve been looking for a knife for preparing bait or scaling fish, the Adira is worth checking out.

Keep One Eye on the Horizon With Nocs Provisions’ Waterproof Monocular

Nocs Provisions’ Zoom Tube 8×32 Waterproof Monocular is a must-have tool for avid explorers and outdoor enthusiasts. This compact, pocket-sized telescope offers powerful optics with 8x magnification and a wide 384-feet field of vision at 1000 yards, perfect for birdwatching, navigation, and nature observation, and easy to use with a smartphone to take zoomed photos. It’s equipped with a scratch-resistant, multi-coated glass lens system with an anti-reflective coating and a superior Bak4 roof prism that delivers exceptional clarity and sharpness, even in challenging lighting.

The Zoom Tube is encased in a durable, high-impact rubber armor that provides a secure, non-slip grip and substantial shock resistance. This monocular is fully waterproof and fog-proof, thanks to its nitrogen-filled internal chambers, ensuring reliable performance in all weather conditions. Its ergonomic design fits comfortably in one hand, and the focus wheel is conveniently positioned for easy and quick adjustments. A twist-up eyecup accommodates glasses wearers, and the built-in tripod adapter enhances its versatility. We like this Zoom Tube from Nocs for its thoughtful features and excellent optical performance, and it’s worth it to cop one for your next outdoor adventure.

Wingback’s Mechanical Pen Promises a Lifetime of Writing Bliss

Wingback has introduced the Steel Mechanical Pen, a built-to-last ballpoint pen designed with a single-handed twist mechanism to prevent wobble. Made from aerospace-grade stainless steel, this pen feels satisfyingly weighty in the hand and promises durability for a lifetime of writing tasks, from meeting notes to spontaneous bursts of creativity.

One of my favorite aspects of the Wingback is its barrel length. At 4.6”, it’s slightly shorter than most standard pens, yet it provides a full-sized writing experience. The machining is top-notch, with a slightly textured finish and knurling that ensures a secure grip without being too sharp. Some users may feel limited since it only supports Fisher Space Pen refills and lacks a clip but we still think it’s a solid EDC and in our opinion, the Wingback Steel Mechanical Pen is built to last with timeless design.

DSPTCH and Engineered Garments Team Up for a Technical Dyneema Daypack

DSPTCH has consistently been pushing the envelope with its packs and bags so we expected no different from their special edition collection with Engineered Garments. The collection features four bag styles, including the Ridgepack, which caught our attention. The “shell-style” backpack is a new direction for their pack design, intentionally simplified for lightweight and versatile carry. Crafted from premium materials like Dyneema Composite Fabric (said to be 15x stronger than steel) and 1680D Ballistic Nylon with DWR coating, the Ridgepack ensures durability without the extra weight. Inside, you’ll find a 410D Nylon Packcloth lining, also with DWR coating, making it perfectly equipped to withstand urban commutes and everyday adventures. Since the bags are hand-dyed, each bag takes on a unique appearance.

But the Ridgepack’s innovation doesn’t stop at its exterior. This backpack boasts a modular design, allowing users to customize their carry experience using pouches and clips. This means that whether you need quick access to your essentials or a secure spot for your laptop, the Ridgepack has you covered. Its padded sleeve comfortably fits up to a 16″ slim laptop, keeping your tech safe on the go. Ideal for urban commuters and EDC enthusiasts, the Ridgepack is set to redefine what you expect from a modern backpack.

CIVIVI’s New ExOne Has the Chops to Be a Fantastic Everyday Flipper

CIVIVI continues to design some of the best knives on the market, and the ExOne designed by the exceptional Brian Brown, well-known for his work on the Trogon with parent-brand WE Knife, is no exception. The ExOne boasts a 2.94” reverse tanto blade crafted from Nitro-V steel celebrated for its toughness, corrosion resistance, and edge retention. With a blade hardness of 59-61 HRC and a hollow grind, this satin-finished blade excels in precision tasks such as opening packages and fine cutting and can be deployed using the full-length fuller or flipper.

The handle of the ExOne is constructed from durable G10 material in an elegant ivory finish, complemented by green-painted stainless steel liners, offering a pleasing aesthetic contrast. The pocket clip is designed for tip-up deep carry and is reversible for left or right-handed use. The ceramic ball-bearing pivot assembly ensures smooth and reliable deployment, while the liner lock mechanism provides secure blade lockup during use. The CIVIVI ExOne stands out as an excellent EDC knife, combining high-quality materials, thoughtful design, and superior performance at an affordable price point.

CJRB’s upgraded Bowie Pyrite steals the spotlight in this week’s new releases, along with a voice-activated headlamp, sleek pen, and stylish messenger bag.

The New S90V Pyrite Is CJRB’s Best Yet

We previously featured the CJRB Bowie Pyrite folding knife from Artisan Cutlery back when it used their proprietary AR-RPM9 steel for the blade, and we’ve been paying close attention ever since. They’ve taken things a step higher with this new release, now featuring a blade forged from CPM S90V. This premium steel is renowned for its exceptional wear resistance, promising longevity and reliability in every use. The CJRB Bowie Pyrite features a robust button-lock mechanism complemented by grippy thumb studs, making it effortlessly fidget-friendly. Its non-reversible deep carry titanium pocket clip ensures secure storage, with its smooth edges and carefully calculated stiffness providing optimal comfort and accessibility. The Bowie-type clip-point blade enhances versatility, a hallmark of survival knives, ensuring the CJRB Bowie Pyrite is ready for any challenge.

The new lightweight titanium handle adds a touch of elegance and completes the elite ensemble, making this the best version of the Pyrite yet.

COAST’s Voice Activated RL35R Headlamp Takes “Hands-Free” to the Next Level

COAST takes “hands-free” illumination to the next level with their latest headlamp, the RL35R. You get two main LEDs—one for spot and one for flood—which can be used independently or combined for up to 1,100 lumens of output. There are green and blue LEDs for preserving night vision and map reading, as well as for identification and inspection. Surrounding the LED array is the “ARC280°” area light system which contains diffused warm and red LEDs for even more utility. That’s already plenty useful for a headlamp, but the RL35R takes it to the next level with its ability to recognize voice commands. While it does have a full set of controls up top, when activated, the headlamp can recognize commands like “COAST ARC” or “COAST RED” to enable whichever illumination is needed, without needing your hands to fiddle with switches or lose their grip on an important task. It’s an unprecedented feature we didn’t even realize would be so useful, but it makes perfect sense.

The RL35R is all business up front but rounds out its features on the back, which houses a rear safety signal as well as its rechargeable ZX850 (18650) Li-ion battery, along with a convenient USB-C charging port on both the light and the battery itself. With IP54 dust and water resistance, the RL35R is ready for the next adventure, and we’re definitely COAST ON board for what the brand has in store next.

Leatherman’s Skeletool CX and KB Get a Colorful Upgrade

The Skeletool CX has long been a favorite recommendation of ours for those looking for a pliers-based multi-tool but want to save a bit more space and bulk from Leatherman’s more feature-packed offerings. Even with full-sized pliers, a proven 154CM blade, and a bit driver to cover all your bases, it still weighs a comfortable 5 oz thanks to its namesake skeletonized frame, which you can conveniently hang off of your gear with its built-in carabiner.

If you want to save on space even more or want to pack light for the day with just an EDC knife, the Skeletool KB is a chip off the old block, and is the knife arm of the CX as an independent tool, with a locking 420HC blade and a bottle opener built into its clip.

Both tools are great for EDC and it’s the perfect time to add either to yours with the release of new colorways. The CX is now available in four new colors: Onyx, Nightshade, Verdant, and Paradise, and the KB knife is available in Nightshade, Verdant, and Paradise.

Featuring two large internal pockets, a slim zipper pocket for notebooks or iPads, heavy-duty buckles, and an adjustable shoulder strap, this bag is perfect for carrying your essentials, whether you’re on a daily adventure or a weekend getaway. With dimensions of 11.75″H x 14″W when closed, and a Velcro patch panel on the front for customization, the Heritage Claymore Sling Bag is a versatile companion that honors its military roots while meeting the demands of modern life. Backed by GORUCK’s Scars Lifetime Guarantee, this bag is built to last, ensuring the legacy lives on in a new, practical form.

CIVIVI Unveils the Elementum Utility Knife

CIVIVI continues its trend of producing high-quality, value-for-money knives with the introduction of the Elementum Utility knife. Its stonewashed stainless steel holder provides a sturdy and durable platform for the blade. The button lock mechanism makes the knife simple to operate while keeping the blade securely in place during use. Its curved 3.65” handle, inspired by the original Elementum design, provides a comfortable and secure grip, while the streamlined profile ensures that the knife won’t snag or catch in your pocket. Available in four colors: Green, Blue, Black, and Gray, CIVIVI is currently taking pre-orders for the Elementum Utility, priced at an extremely reasonable $50 USD.

Victorinox’s New Dive Pro Exemplifies Underwater Precision Under Pressure

While primarily known for the iconic Swiss Army Knife, Victorinox has garnered the respect of watch enthusiasts around the world for their tough, no-frills tool watches. Manufactured and rigorously tested at Victorinox’s facility in Delémont, Switzerland, the Dive Pro Automatic is one of their newest releases this year, boasting an impressive array of features that will impress even the most diehard dive watch fans.

With its ISO 6425 certification and water resistance of up to 300M, the Dive Pro Automatic is engineered to withstand even the most demanding dives. Its unidirectional rotating bezel, featuring a highly visible twenty-minute time interval gradation, ensures precise timing during crucial underwater missions. It features a black PVD titanium 43mm case and bold, legible dial, while its tool-free changeable rubber strap allows for quick and effortless personalization. Powered by the tried and tested Sellita SW220 automatic movement running at a frequency of 28,800vph (4 Hz) with a day and date display, the Drive Pro Automatic also has a deported crown for easy handling, even when wearing gloves.

Vosteed Unveils the Heavy-Duty Hedgehog Knife

Compact folding knives are best for everyday carry because of their convenient size, but if you’re planning on taking on heavy-duty tasks with your daily driver you might want to carry something built stronger than the rest. That’s where sturdy knives with beefy spines like the new Hedgehog from the makers over at Vosteed come in handy. To get the most durability out of the 2.99” S35VN stainless steel blade on the Hedgehog, Vosteed fashioned it into a modified sheepsfoot utility shape with a markedly substantial spine that gives the knife more inherent strength when you’re chopping and cutting through rough material. Combined with the secure liner lock on the blade, you have a reliable folding knife that’s well-suited for heavy-duty everyday carry tasks.

That liner lock is also a unique aspect of the Vosteed Hedgehog folding knife. Unlike a traditional liner lock that required you to twist the blade and manipulate the steel liner, Vosteed integrated a tab built directly into the steel liner that protrudes through a small slit in the grippy blue GT-Mascus handle scales. This lets you operate the lock with a single hand, as if it was a button-style lock knife. That’s the kind of quality of life improvement that you might think is small, but you’ll come to really appreciate it once you get to work with the Vosteed Hedgehog folding knife in your hands.

Kuoe’s Old Smith Watch Evolves with Contemporary Charm

Kuoe is a micro-brand watch manufacturer located in Kyoto, Japan. They specialize in making vintage-style automatic mechanical watches featuring reliable Japanese movements. Because of the vintage style, their watches tend to run small, but this year, they have updated their Old Smith watch to a more contemporary 39mm case diameter. The new Old Smith retains the “Dirty Dozen” classic British military style of the original, with bold Roman number markers and a railroad track to denote the minutes.  What’s hard to see, even in Kuoe’s own product photos, is the unique paper-like dial on the watch.

Where the original used a Seiko NH35 movement inside, the new watch comes with a Seiko NH38. Either way, you get a reliable made-in-Japan automatic movement with hand-winding and hacking stop seconds. A screw-down crown helps the watch maintain 100-meter water resistance. New to this model is that it comes with a domed sapphire glass, which was optional in the original, and it comes with two pull-through straps to meet the new, larger, 20mm lug width.

Prometheus’s Beta QRv3 Flashlight Returns with Upgraded Brilliance

It’s hard to believe that it’s been almost 10 years since we reviewed Prometheus’s premiere AAA flashlight, but this year, the Beta shines bright once again. Now on its third iteration since its original Kickstarter launch in 2013, it keeps its key functionality—namely, its twisty activation and quick-release tail system—while tweaking its design and upgrading its output to modern enthusiast sensibilities.

The QRv3’s main titanium body design maintains the signature Prometheus ridges, with the option for a classic or “ICE” design for the head, the latter of which includes a more aggressive knurled pattern. And speaking of the head, it now contains the latest and greatest Nichia 519A 9080 (4000K) LED with 90+ CRI, an incredibly pleasing tint that still has enough power for up to 90 lumens in up to three modes and is powered by an included AAA NiMH rechargeable battery. Last but not least, the Beta QRv3’s quick-release tail not only comes with your option for a clip instead of a split ring attachment but the current version also got re-tooled to be usable as a light work 1/4” bit driver.

The new Beta is on a monthly drop schedule and goes fast, so sign up for notifications and keep an eye on the Prometheus site for updates regarding releases to have the chance to grab your own.

Vosteed’s Mini Labrador Knife Offers Titanium Quality on a Budget

The Mini Labrador is the latest in Vosteed’s catalog of canine-themed everyday cutters and sizes down the sleek original to a more pocket-friendly 2.73” blade. The rear flipper has a minimal design whose only embellishments are jimping on the flipper tab and a logo on the titanium clip, but its sleekness speaks for itself.

The 14C28N drop point blade folds into chamfered titanium handles, flies out on bearings, and secures with a frame lock reinforced with a titanium backspacer. While it would have been nice to have it be more ambidextrous with a crossbar lock and reversible clip, we can still appreciate its intended design and user. The Mini Labrador comes in two colors and would be a solid addition to any titanium-themed setup, especially at its $69 price point.

Mission Workshop’s Mass Transit Duffle Delivers Style, Functionality, and Durability

Large duffel bags are too heavy and cumbersome for EDC and are typically relegated for travel use only. But things become more interesting when makers construct them out of lightweight and durable VX21 sailcloth fabric. Take the new Mass Transit 33-liter duffle bag from Mission Workshop, for example. The Mass Transit is the most oversized bag you can safely mount on the handlebars of a bike. But because of the need to transport it on that bike, it’s made far lighter at 3.4 pounds than a comparable bag of other materials. VX21 X-Pac sailcloth has excellent abrasion, tear, and weather resistance, and Mission Workshop stitched it with care into a large handlebar duffel bag to fit whatever your heart desires.

The Mass Transit features a large laptop compartment, zip pockets for stationery and other small tech essentials, and four open compartments for clothes, documents, and other valuables. The handles and straps are all designed to tuck away so you can streamline it when attached to a handlebar. This feature is also great for use in luggage compartments when traveling. And thanks to its waterproof, made-in-the-USA sailcloth construction and water-resistant YKK Aquaguard zippers, it’s made to resist the elements on the way to your destination and beyond.

It’s a big EDC market out there, and tons of awesome gear is released all the time. We made The Drop to help you discover the latest and greatest essentials worth a spot in your EDC.

(Editor’s note 11/13/23: The Hybrid Work Duo is now available and shipping directly from Orbitkey’s main site. The links in this post have been changed to point to the official product category page.)

For digital nomads, it’s essential to keep EDC simple. When items can play more roles than one, including them in our everyday carry is more valuable and practical. That’s why the dual nature of the upcoming Orbitkey Hybrid Work Duo works so well for people who rely on tech on the go. It’s a high-quality laptop sleeve that doubles as a classy and durable desk mat for hybrid remote working conditions, whether at a coworking space, a spot at a local bar or coffee shop, or a desk at home.

The Orbitkey Hybrid Work Duo consists of what they call the Hybrid Laptop Sleeve and the Orbitkey Compendium. It’s a two-part recipe for mobile working success. The Hybrid Laptop Sleeve is as it sounds: a leatherbound laptop sleeve with a unique twist. Once you take your up to 16-inch laptop out of the sleeve, it unfolds to provide you a clean and stable desk mat experience to organize your desk and let you use a mouse too. Alongside the Hybrid Laptop Sleeve is the Orbitkey Compendium, which, like the Hybrid Laptop Sleeve, is made out of vegan leather but also contains an A4 or A5 compatible pocket for a notebook and assorted payment and identification cards.

Each item would work well independently, but both are now available by securing a pledge on Orbitkey’s open Kickstarter. Orbitkey has a long track history of delivering quality everyday carry products to market, and these two items promise to provide the same quality experience that the community has come to expect from Orbitkey.

What we like: Together as the Orbitkey Hybrid Work Duo, the Laptop Sleeve and Compendium come together as a highly practical yet extremely aesthetic work-from-home (or work from anywhere) set of EDC gear.

What to watch out for: Standard crowdfunding disclaimer here, so just be aware of how pledging on Kickstarter works. Because Orbitkey is releasing the Hybrid Work Duo as part of a Kickstarter campaign, you may have to wait longer than traditional gear releases to get these items in your hand. Thankfully Orbitkey has a rich history of designing successful EDC products and delivering on their promises.

Final verdict: If you’re looking to protect and organize your tech every day carry as your work-from-home or work remotely, the Orbitkey Hybrid Work Duo is your faithful companion as you go from place to place.

It’s a big EDC market out there, and tons of awesome gear is released all the time. We made The Drop to help you discover the latest and greatest essentials worth a spot in your EDC.

If your everyday carry includes cameras, lenses, and other delicate electronics, you know how important it is to protect those items as you take them from place to place daily. And that’s why padded protective inserts like the Peak Design Camera Cube V2 are so helpful. They allow you to use the bag of your choice while keeping your core essential tech safe and sound and separated from the rest of your gear.

Recently, Peak Design has updated its Camera Cube line, and we particularly like the bag’s new ‘extra small’ version. The X-Small Peak Design Camera Cube V2 fits a small mirrorless or compact camera kit. It features a wholly recycled and weatherproof 160D nylon canvas shell and weatherproof Ultra Zips to keep the elements out when you have them outside. And weighing just 150 grams when empty, it doesn’t add too much heft to your regular everyday carry ensemble, like other camera inserts, dedicated photography, and tech bags tend to do.

And because the insert is water-resistant by itself, you could opt to attach a Peak Design strap to its anchor points and carry it as a standalone bag. Either way, the unique versatility and practicality of the Peak Design X-Small Camera Cube V2 are compelling, even if you don’t carry a camera or drone regularly. Small tech essentials need protection, and you can easily accomplish that by adding a Peak Design Extra Small Camera Cube to your everyday carry.

What we like: These “extra small” proportions of the Peak Design Camera Cube V2 make it the most everyday carry-friendly option to fit into any bag or pack.

What to watch out for: The Peak Design Camera Cubes are only available in black, which might not match your aesthetic or the bag or pack you will use with the padded insert.

Final verdict: With the Peak Design X-Small Camera Cube V2, it’s easy to keep your most valuable tech and photography essentials safe from everyday bumps and scrapes. With Peak Design standing behind all of its products with a solid lifetime warranty, you can rely on this padded insert bag through thick and thin in the years to come.

With their shorter, less visible stems and the introduction of active noise-canceling technology into the mix, Apple’s new AirPods Pro should be your truly-wireless earbuds of choice if you’re an iPhone user, as they are a worthy step up from the previous generation. They also fit in ears better than the last model, which you should check out if they didn’t work for you the first time. State-of-the-art noise canceling and transparency, silicone tips that are compatible with more ears, a lower profile design, and a new wireless charging case that gives you a total of 24 hours of playback—the AirPods Pro is at the top of the heap of wireless earbuds for a reason, and a great addition to any tech EDC.

Take one look at the Withings Steel HR Sport and it’s clear it’s not like other fitness trackers. It sports a more traditional analog look for telling time with its two hands and 12-hour markers while still displaying useful fitness information on its two subdials. The topmost subdial is actually an embedded digital screen for displaying heart rate, phone notifications, and more. The bottom subdial tracks goal progress throughout the day. Syncing the watch to an Android or iOS smartphone gives you access to a suite of useful activity tracking, including calories burned, distance, VO2 Max estimations, and sleep quality in addition to the aforementioned heart rate. In addition to being a solid workout companion, the Steel HR Sport is great to travel with thanks to its no-fuss, auto-adjusting hands that sync with different timezones as you travel.

To stand up to rigorous workouts and wear and tear of EDC alike, the watch boasts its namesake stainless steel case, double domed mineral crystal, and 50 meters of water resistance (good for dips, swims, and splashes). Its rechargeable battery lasts for 25 days between full charges, conveniently eliminating the need to plug it in every night. Check it out at the link below.

It’s a big EDC market out there, and tons of awesome gear is released all the time. We made The Drop to help you discover the latest and greatest essentials worth a spot in your EDC.

Finding a good case and stand for the digital nomad life can be difficult when you EDC a laptop. Often, their design can look out of place and bulky compared to the laptop of your choice. And having to carry two things to get the job done is a perfect sore spot to streamline. That’s where a smartly-designed combination case and laptop stand as MOFT’s Carry Sleeve comes in handy. With their new High Summer 2023 Color Collection, you can choose from three different colors that you can use to match your tech essentials and EDC ensemble.

MOFT’s Carry Sleeve integrates a protective laptop case with a built-in laptop stand as part of the design. Using clever origami-like magnetic folds in the leatherette sleeve of the laptop case, you can turn it into a slim and sturdy laptop stand, even able to prop up your machine at two heights. It looks great to boot, and the High Summer 2023 collection matches well with a 14″ or 16″ MacBook, with the colors closely matching the look of Apple’s aesthetic. You can choose from the silver-colored Misty Cove, the light green Seafoam, and the tan and gold-colored Beach White.

The MOFT Carry Sleeve lets you work from anywhere, encouraging better ergonomics for a remote-first workflow wherever you find yourself. And you’ll appreciate that the vegan leather construction of the MOFT Carry Sleeve is water-resistant if you spend most of your time in coffee shops and craft beer breweries when you’re hammering out your next mobile project on the go. It even comes with special slots for a wall adapter or often-used card to further consolidate your EDC.

What we like: The clever origami-fold design of the MOFT Carry Sleeve presents an elegant solution to protecting your valuable tech essentials and standing it up when you’re on the go. It can do that by being a two-in-one design that matches the overall look of your gear, especially if you carry a MacBook.

What to watch out for: It’s essential to look at the maximum dimensions each carry sleeve can accommodate. Some devices might be too big or thick for the MOFT Carry Sleeve to handle (we’re looking at you, gaming laptops).

Final verdict: With the MOFT Carry Sleeve High Summer 2023 collection, you can consolidate your tech EDC to be more convenient and protective of your gear at the same time. It’s a solid choice, especially if you EDC an Apple device with matching colors.

It’s a big EDC market out there, and tons of awesome gear is released all the time. We made The Drop to help you discover the latest and greatest essentials worth a spot in your EDC.

When it comes time to focus on a task or drown out your surroundings with your life’s soundtrack, a good set of active noise-canceling true wireless stereo (TWS) earbuds is the best choice. Unlike a full-size pair of headphones, TWS earbuds are far more EDC-friendly because they are compact, portable, and, as the name suggests, free from any wires to get tangled in or distracted by. And Sony’s premium WF line, now in its fifth generation with the new WF-1000XM5, is the best in class. With the WF-1000XM5, Sony has put together the best active noise-canceling (ANC) technology into a convenient and portable package for everyday carry.

Unlike traditional earbuds, the Sony WF-100XM5 interfaces with up to two laptops, tablets, or cell phones with the latest and greatest high-resolution multipoint Bluetooth 5.3 technology. It supports lossless codecs (SBC, AAC, and LDAC, but unfortunately, no aptX/HD) if your device can serve them to the earbuds, ensuring the best quality for your favorite music albums or podcasts when you’re on the go. And they have 8-12 hours of battery life built in, depending on whether you use the ANC function. Because the XM5s feature both corded USB-C and Qi wireless charging, it’s effortless to keep them ready to go when needed.

The XM5‘s ANC is one of the best in the business, powered by two processors handling six microphones to provide an aural lockout that’s a step up from the previous XM4s, drowning out outside noise like airplane engines and road noise and letting you focus on what you want instead–though there is an Ambient Mode function that gives environmental sound passthrough. And because Sony has included more removable ear tip sizes in the box, you can get a comfortable long-term fit with these earbuds to further enhance the passive noise cancellation.

What we like: Sony’s ANC TWS earbuds are a long-standing EDC community favorite due to their convenience and sound quality. Their microphone is also adequate for most work conference calls and cell phone interactions. Sony’s inclusion of an extra-small ear tip is rare and welcome news to anyone with smaller ear canals.

What to watch out for: While some of the best earbuds out there and with best-in-class ANC, the XM5s command one of the heftiest price tags at $299, which is a pretty steep investment if you’re already happy with, say, your XM4s. Also, take care to look at the product before you buy it. Sony’s complicated product numbering scheme means you might accidentally buy the full-size ANC headphones instead of the earbuds if you type in WH-1000XM5.

Final verdict: The Sony WF-1000XM5s are some of the latest and greatest ANC TWS earbuds for everyday carry. And even if you have an older pair, the improved fit, features, and performance of the WF-1000XM5s could make them worth the upgrade.

It’s a big EDC market out there, and tons of awesome gear is released all the time. We made The Drop to help you discover the latest and greatest essentials worth a spot in your EDC.

It’s probably no secret that I’m the biggest Skullcandy fan on the team. While I generally default to AirPod Pros like most iPhone users, I’m also a massive basshead, and for my preference, there’s nothing quite like Skullcandy’s Crusher series for the ultimate bass experience. But besides that, I also like recommending their other wireless earbuds to people from the sheer number of choices and value they provide, from highly affordable options to super fun collaborations.

But it’s their latest release that really got my attention. The Rail series is Skullcandy’s newest pair of flagship true wireless headphones, designed to compete at the highest level of features and sound while offering them at the lowest possible price. And that low price is significant, with the regular Rail model only coming in at $79 and the Rail ANC at $99.

Skullcandy designed both with a rock-solid foundation of features: exceptional battery life, ample water resistance, Skull-iQ voice technology, Personal Sound by Mimi (a company specializing in hearing technologies for sound personalization), multipoint pairing via Bluetooth 5.2 with auto-connect, touch controls, and Tile integration. As its name suggests, the Rail ANC gets noise canceling in exchange for a bit less battery life (38 hours total versus 42 on the regular Rail) and slightly less resistance at IPX4 (IP55 on the Rail), but it also gets wireless charging on the case and two extra microphones that use AI for better voice isolation and environmental noise reduction.

That’s a lot of specs to pack in an attractive package–I particularly like the use of translucent materials on the buds–and the price lets either model compete with some of the best wireless buds out there. We’re spoiled for choice in this category, but I’m glad Skullcandy still manages to surprise me when they do what they do best: giving great sound at a great price.

What I like: Top-tier features at a fraction of the cost of its competition. I also appreciate that Skullcandy doesn’t try to outright go for a too-close-to-AirPods all-white aesthetic that I see in other brands, even on the Bone colorway of the base Rail.

What to watch out for: Take note of the differences between each model; you could be saving a bit more for your budget if you don’t necessarily need ANC or wireless charging, and you get more battery life in return.

Final verdict: Skullcandy could have phoned it in and just stayed on the rails for their newest flagship line, but for everything you get for the price, these are a winner in my book.

It’s a big EDC market out there, and tons of awesome gear is released all the time. We made The Drop to help you discover the latest and greatest essentials worth a spot in your EDC.

Whether working from home, back in the office, or somewhere in between, having a good EDC laptop stand is helpful for both your comfort and productivity. Laptop stands let you bring your screen up to a proper height that doesn’t force you to crane your neck up or downwards throughout the day. This reduces neck aches and clears up some desk space for a separate keyboard and mouse. But having a big and bulky laptop stand would make it hard to bring with you. That’s where lightweight, collapsible laptop stands, such as the Nexstand K1 Carbon Fiber, come into play.

As its name implies, the Nexstand K1 Carbon Fiber features a carbon fiber frame, which makes this particular laptop stand one of the lightest you can choose for your EDC at just 5.5 ounces. The Nexstand K1 is about 40% less hefty than their original K2 laptop stand, which was made of polymer and came in at 8.36 oz. While it upgrades the material from the original, it keeps the design elements that make both excellent choices for everyday carry.

To use the K1, remove it from the cloth bag and expand the frame. This exposes the “claws” which hold the bottom of the laptop in place as you adjust the height of the stand with the levers on the side, which click into place at designated heights for convenience. Its cross-braced design makes it very sturdy and can accommodate most laptops from 13″ to 17″ in size. Once you finish your work, fold and collapse the Nexstand K1 Carbon Fiber back into place and return it to your laptop bag, where it will remain ready to go when work calls again.

What we like: Because of its carbon fiber construction, the Nexstand K1 Carbon Fiber is one of the lightest and most portable laptop stands you can add to your everyday carry.

What to watch out for: The K1 is on the pricier side, but you do get what you pay for. There aren’t many stands out there you can fit into your backpack’s water bottle pocket and still be able to lift up heavier gaming laptops.

Final verdict: It’s light, folds up nicely to fit your EDC bag, and is sized to hold up even the chunkiest laptops, making it a great addition to your tech kit.

It’s a big EDC market out there, and tons of awesome gear is released all the time. We made The Drop to help you discover the latest and greatest essentials worth a spot in your EDC.

Skullcandy has always been a familiar inclusion on “best headphones for bassheads” lists, with the Skullcandy Crusher line usually heading the charge, thanks to its one-of-a-kind haptic bass slider that can literally turn up the deep end to 11. The recently released Skullcandy Crusher ANC 2 takes the brand’s bass-centric focus to the next level with significant upgrades over its predecessor on top of its earth-shaking signature sound profile.

Skullcandy puts a lot of focus on providing a customized listening experience. Users can personalize the proprietary haptic bass by rotating the adjustment wheel on the left ear cup or by using the Skull-iQ app to create and customize their audio experience to their unique hearing preferences. Skull-iQ Smart Feature Technology features hands-free voice commands to control bass levels, pick up calls, and interact with other voice assistants such as Alexa or  iHeartRadio.

Other upgrades include moving up to Bluetooth v5.2 connectivity, improved battery life of up to 60 hours (the first Crushers already had a respectable 24 hours), adjustable 4-mic active noise cancellation, multipoint pairing, and more. The Skullcandy Crusher ANC 2 headphones have also been redesigned for comfort, with larger ear cups, an asymmetric yoke, and a notch in the headband, making them ready for extended listening sessions. The headphones are also flat-folding and collapsible, and the included travel case makes them suitable for on-the-go use.

What we like: The Crusher 2s punch above their weight in features and can knock you out with their bass, for a reasonable $229.99 asking price.

What to watch out for: Is there such a thing as too much bass?

Final verdict: A no-brainer if you’re a basshead, but they’re also comfortable, feature-packed, and highly customizable enough to be worth a try even in this crowded market of wireless headphones.

Does the way you currently organize your tech EDC spark joy? If not, you’ll want to check out this collaboration between creative carry specialists Orbitkey and tidying expert Marie Kondo. Both Orbitkey and Marie Kondo are passionate about organization, and the limited-edition KonMari | Orbitkey Nest, with its unique stone colorway, delivers their shared tidying philosophy perfectly. Orbitkey’s award-winning Nest is a portable and customizable desk organizer designed to help you stay organized and tidy at the office or on the go. Its hardshell carrying case protects your electronics when traveling, while its modular interior organization offers several ways to customize your compartments to suit your specific needs.

The wireless Qi charger on the lid makes it a great “home base” for items that use wireless charging tech, like your phone, AirPods, or smartwatch, allowing you to charge them while you work. Next to the embedded charger, you have a valet tray section roomy enough for the rest of your essentials, like a slim wallet, keys, and pocket knife. The underside of the lid has compartments that let you store cards you don’t often use to free up space in your wallet, together with an elastic pouch for smaller items that are easy to lose, like SD cards or a spare house key.

You can separate the top tray from the internal storage to easily retrieve items while you work at your desk, or you can simply flip the lid open like a book to access your essentials whenever needed. Inside, a soft fabric lining serves as the base for six Velcro-bottomed dividers, which you can move around to create custom-sized compartments to store your gear safely. You can pick and choose how many partitions to use and position them as needed to suit your needs, which is perfect for those who change their kit often.

Each KonMari | Orbitkey Nest is wrapped in a custom-made indigo and cream furoshiki with a modern sashiko pattern designed exclusively for this collaboration. Furoshiki are traditional Japanese wrapping cloths that are reusable and sustainable. You can reuse them as a gift-wrapping alternative or as a tablecloth or reusable napkin.

Whether at home or work, the KonMari | Orbitkey Nest is a great way to declutter and stay organized as you go about your daily commute, allowing you to simplify how you organize your gear so you can focus more on productivity. Pick yours up at the link below.
