It’s a big EDC market out there, and tons of awesome gear is released all the time. We made The Drop to help you discover the latest and greatest essentials worth a spot in your EDC.

It’s probably no secret that I’m the biggest Skullcandy fan on the team. While I generally default to AirPod Pros like most iPhone users, I’m also a massive basshead, and for my preference, there’s nothing quite like Skullcandy’s Crusher series for the ultimate bass experience. But besides that, I also like recommending their other wireless earbuds to people from the sheer number of choices and value they provide, from highly affordable options to super fun collaborations.

But it’s their latest release that really got my attention. The Rail series is Skullcandy’s newest pair of flagship true wireless headphones, designed to compete at the highest level of features and sound while offering them at the lowest possible price. And that low price is significant, with the regular Rail model only coming in at $79 and the Rail ANC at $99.

Skullcandy designed both with a rock-solid foundation of features: exceptional battery life, ample water resistance, Skull-iQ voice technology, Personal Sound by Mimi (a company specializing in hearing technologies for sound personalization), multipoint pairing via Bluetooth 5.2 with auto-connect, touch controls, and Tile integration. As its name suggests, the Rail ANC gets noise canceling in exchange for a bit less battery life (38 hours total versus 42 on the regular Rail) and slightly less resistance at IPX4 (IP55 on the Rail), but it also gets wireless charging on the case and two extra microphones that use AI for better voice isolation and environmental noise reduction.

That’s a lot of specs to pack in an attractive package–I particularly like the use of translucent materials on the buds–and the price lets either model compete with some of the best wireless buds out there. We’re spoiled for choice in this category, but I’m glad Skullcandy still manages to surprise me when they do what they do best: giving great sound at a great price.

What I like: Top-tier features at a fraction of the cost of its competition. I also appreciate that Skullcandy doesn’t try to outright go for a too-close-to-AirPods all-white aesthetic that I see in other brands, even on the Bone colorway of the base Rail.

What to watch out for: Take note of the differences between each model; you could be saving a bit more for your budget if you don’t necessarily need ANC or wireless charging, and you get more battery life in return.

Final verdict: Skullcandy could have phoned it in and just stayed on the rails for their newest flagship line, but for everything you get for the price, these are a winner in my book.

It’s a big EDC market out there, and tons of awesome gear is released all the time. We made The Drop to help you discover the latest and greatest essentials worth a spot in your EDC.

Skullcandy has always been a familiar inclusion on “best headphones for bassheads” lists, with the Skullcandy Crusher line usually heading the charge, thanks to its one-of-a-kind haptic bass slider that can literally turn up the deep end to 11. The recently released Skullcandy Crusher ANC 2 takes the brand’s bass-centric focus to the next level with significant upgrades over its predecessor on top of its earth-shaking signature sound profile.

Skullcandy puts a lot of focus on providing a customized listening experience. Users can personalize the proprietary haptic bass by rotating the adjustment wheel on the left ear cup or by using the Skull-iQ app to create and customize their audio experience to their unique hearing preferences. Skull-iQ Smart Feature Technology features hands-free voice commands to control bass levels, pick up calls, and interact with other voice assistants such as Alexa or  iHeartRadio.

Other upgrades include moving up to Bluetooth v5.2 connectivity, improved battery life of up to 60 hours (the first Crushers already had a respectable 24 hours), adjustable 4-mic active noise cancellation, multipoint pairing, and more. The Skullcandy Crusher ANC 2 headphones have also been redesigned for comfort, with larger ear cups, an asymmetric yoke, and a notch in the headband, making them ready for extended listening sessions. The headphones are also flat-folding and collapsible, and the included travel case makes them suitable for on-the-go use.

What we like: The Crusher 2s punch above their weight in features and can knock you out with their bass, for a reasonable $229.99 asking price.

What to watch out for: Is there such a thing as too much bass?

Final verdict: A no-brainer if you’re a basshead, but they’re also comfortable, feature-packed, and highly customizable enough to be worth a try even in this crowded market of wireless headphones.

Whether you’re sitting at your desk or commuting to an office, a good pair of headphones can be a game-changer. The problem is that headphones can be expensive, especially if you want the latest and greatest features. That’s where the new soundcore headphones come in. The Space A40 earbuds and Space Q45 headphones are two great new options for anyone looking for a reliable pair of noise-canceling headphones packed with features but won’t break the bank.

Space A40 Earbuds

If you want a pair of discreet earbuds that punch above their weight class, soundcore has long been the go-to option. The newest Space A40 earbuds are another example of the company offering premium features at an entry-level price point. The Space A40 earbuds are a discreet touch-sensitive pair of earbuds that combine Hi-Res wireless certified sound quality with impressive active noise cancellation (ANC). If you need to be aware of your surroundings to catch an announcement or to answer a question, you can easily switch to transparency mode with a single touch. With HearID, soundcore performs a quick hearing test via its app and creates a unique hearing profile for you that saves to the earbuds. So whatever you listen to will be tuned to better match how you hear.

One problem with small earbuds like this is that they typically have terrible battery life, but that isn’t the case here. These will last about 10 hours on a single charge, with an extra four full charges in the ergonomic pill-shaped charging case. So if you don’t want another product you need to charge at the end of every day, this could be your solution. They’re also IPX4 rated, so you don’t have to worry about them getting damaged if you get caught in the rain too. The cherry on top is multipoint connectivity which means you can stay connected to two devices simultaneously, and the earbuds will switch between them seamlessly whenever you switch. For just $99 the soundcore A40s could be a great option if you’re in the market to add some Bluetooth earbuds to your EDC.

Check Out the Space A40 Earbuds

Space Q45 Headphones

If you’re not a fan of small earbuds, you’re not alone. Still, soundcore has something for you too. The Space Q45 over-ear headphones are sleek headphones that offer fantastic features without costing an arm or a leg. They feature a 4-mic active noise canceling system with added algorithms that adjust the strength of noise canceling depending on your outside environment. Though they also have an ambient mode for when you need to hear what’s going on around you. These are Hi-Res certified as well, whether you’re listening with wires or going completely wireless.

The great thing about getting over-ears is that there is much more space for a bigger battery. On a single charge, the Space Q45 will give you around 50 hours of playback with active noise canceling turned on. If you need to squeeze out a few extra hours of listening time, turning off ANC will up that number to an impressive 65 hours. The Space Q45 headphones also use unique algorithms to detect and enhance voices while on a phone call. So if you need to answer a quick call or hop on a business meeting, you won’t sound terrible to the person on the other end. These come in black, white, and navy color options, and you can pick them up for yourself for $149.

When a company behind some of the best-selling headphones and true wireless earbuds on the market collaborates with a  brand with the most outrageous and disruptive sunglasses on the market, you know something wild and colorful is bound to happen. Skullcandy is an audio market mover in its own right, showing that you can get premium value and features at affordable prices, and Pit Viper is all about having fun with an incomparable retro aesthetic for their eyewear and apparel.

The collaboration features three of Skullcandy’s true wireless products—the Grind, Push Active, and Dime—all decked out in the trappings and design elements Pit Viper is known for. It’s hard to miss the splatter paint, neon colors, and 90s retrofuturistic style that all the products come with, so if you want to mix up your tech and apparel from the usual drab blacks, whites, and grays, this is the collection to catch.

Check Out the Collection

Grind True Wireless Earbuds ($89.99)

Leading the way for the collaboration are the Grind true wireless earbuds, offering flagship performance with Skull-iQ tech for hands-free voice commands, up to 40 hours total runtime between buds and wireless charging case, and IP55 water and sweat resistance for moisture protection even during the most active activities. And in case you hit the grind a little too hard and accidentally drop the earbuds, built-in Tile finding tech helps you recover them in a jiffy (if the colorway doesn’t already).

Push Active Wireless Earbuds ($89.99)

If you’re hitting the gym, the slopes, your next run, or even a long day’s work particularly hard, Skullcandy’s Push Active earbuds are designed to literally latch on and keep up with even the most extreme activities, thanks to flexible on-ear hooks that lock the buds in place. On top of that you get premium performance with up to 44 hours of runtime, Skull-iQ voice command and Tile finding tech, and naturally, IP55 water and sweat resistance as well.

Dime True Wireless Earbuds ($34.99)

Want to partake in the collaboration or add a colorful pair of hot pink true wireless earbuds to your kit, but don’t want to spend an arm and a leg (or save the budget for the stunning apparel instead)? The Dime offers solid features for little investment, and offer the most EDC-able form factor in the whole collection. You get up to 12 hours of battery life along with convenient features like auto-on/connect via Bluetooth, IPX4-rated sweat and water resistance, and physical buttons on the buds that take care of full media controls, even while using either bud solo.

It’s always a good time when good tunes, good brews, and good friends come together. And when it comes having a great time with music and enjoying a cold one, the two brands in this special tech collaboration know a thing or two. Skullcandy is behind some of the best-selling headphones and true wireless earbuds on the market, providing premium value and features at affordable prices, and Budweiser is one of the best-selling beers in the USA. Today they join forces to bring you a series of headphones and earbuds that add a red-hot addition to your music EDC and to celebrate the best of times.

The collection features some of Skullcandy’s best wireless products, including the Crusher Evo Headphones and the Indy Evo, Sesh Evo, and Dime true wireless earbuds. All of them come in a striking black and red colorway, with a combination of reflective and transparent materials to really make the signature red pop along with playful use of each brand’s logos and branding to set the collection apart. It’s not every day two logos like the Skullcandy skull and the Budweiser crown can work so well together, but here it’s a standout combination.

Check Out the Collection

Crusher Evo True Wireless Headphones ($209.99)

Leading the charge are Skullcandy’s flagship true wireless headphones, featuring some of the best battery life you’ll find for wireless headphones—well over the rated 40 hours—as well as a unique adjustable Sensory Bass slider to really get the deep end of your music kicking. They come with a ton of modern conveniences as well to make them excellent daily drivers, including rapid charging, sound personalization via Skullcandy’s app, a great microphone, and even built-in Tile tracking technology. And when you’re ready to go on the move, the Crusher Evos fold flat and collapse into an EDC-friendly package.

Indy Evo True Wireless Earbuds ($79.99)

Full-sized headphones not for you, but still looking for an extended playtime? The Indy Evo comes with up to 30 hours of it in both the buds and the charging case, with rapid charging to get you back into the groove faster. They also come with IP55-rated resistance against sweat, water, and dust, making them shine in physical activities, too. Touch controls let you navigate calls, playback, and volume, while built-in Tile tracking ensures they’re always within reach.

Sesh Evo True Wireless Earbuds ($59.99)

Like the Indy Evo but prefer a more compact profile? The Sesh Evo is for you. It comes with many of the features of its big brother, including up to 24 hours of total battery with rapid charging, IP55 resistance, touch controls, and built-in Tile tech, but in more discreet profile with very little sticking out of your ears.

Dime True Wireless Earbuds ($34.99)

Want to partake in the collaboration or add a dazzling red pair of true wireless earbuds to your kit, but don’t want to spend an arm and a leg? The Dime offers solid features for little investment, and incidentally offer the most EDC-able form factor in the whole collection. You get up to 12 hours of battery life along with convenient features like auto-on/connect via Bluetooth, IPX4-rated sweat and water resistance, and physical buttons on the buds that take care of full media controls, even while using either bud solo.

If you’ve upgraded to a modern smartphone within the last few years, you may have considered upgrading your earphones to true wireless as well. There are plenty of great reasons to make the jump: the sheer convenience of not having any wires to tangle, instant pairing to get right to your call or music, and even active noise canceling on advanced models. But one thing seems to be a constant among modern wireless earbuds—the cost. Which is why Skullcandy’s new Dime wireless earbuds attack the price head on, offering tremendous value at an unprecedented price.

We should get it out of the way right now: the Skullcandy Dimes cost only $25. For many people, that’s the start and end of the discussion. At 1/10 the cost of some popular models, the Dime is firmly in impulse buy territory versus an investment you need to plan for.

Unlike many options at this price point, you get way more than you pay for, from a brand that knows its stuff. In spite of the low cost, there are plenty of features in the Dime that make them a solid choice for your everyday earbuds. You get up to 12 hours of battery life, with 3.5 hours in the buds themselves and 8.5 in the charging case. The case itself also pushes the limits of size, at only 2.45“ x 1.5”. That’s little more than a car key fob, while a lot less than its alternatives on the market. Micro USB charging, a snap lid, and an included lanyard make EDCing the Dime easy and convenient, too.

The earbuds themselves pack a lot of tech, including true wireless connectivity via Bluetooth 5.0 (which also lets them automatically pair with your device), microphones in each bud for ambidextrous operation, and even a full set of controls on the buds themselves. And for active users, IPX4 keeps the buds protected from sweat and water, so they’re a great addition to your gym carry as well. Last but least, Skullcandy stand by the buds with their Fearless Use Promise, letting you purchase and replace just the parts that get broken or lost, saving you from buying new earphones every time.

The Skullcandy Dime wireless earbuds is probably the best and easiest addition you can make to your daily tech EDC, with a compelling price that’s hard to beat. Check out all four colorways at the link below.

When the Koss Porta Pro made their debut in 1984, they made a splash with their futuristic design and lightweight profile. And now, almost 40 years later, the Porta Pros are still making waves as an affordable pair of lightweight retro headphones, ready to keep playing your tunes well into the future. One unique feature you’ll appreciate is an adjustable 3-step comfort setting, going from “Firm” to “Light” to make the headphones as comfortable as possible. You’ll also find multi-pivoting earplates with their iconic design to relieve pressure from your ears while making sure the headphones stay securely on your head. As far as performance goes, they feature a deep-bass along with an open-backed design, so you can stay aware of your surroundings without losing any fidelity. A collapsible design reduces their footprint to about half their size, making them easier to store inside their included carrying case. Finally, weighing in at 2.1 ounces, they aren’t a burden either on your head or on your EDC. If you want a pair of earphones ready to go anywhere while also taking you a few decades back into the past, check out the Koss Porta Pros at the link below.

Recently picked up the AirPods and Apple Watch Series 4 w/ cellular service. It's very liberating to be able to leave my phone behind. I've been making a conscious effort to spend less time on my phone, and it's definitely working. Apple Pay is popping up more and more, so it's nice to not even have to pull a card out of my wallet. As a mechanical watch fan, it's killing me inside just a little bit, but the convenience and utility of the Apple Watch are impressive.

Been trying out a bunch of different keychains and finally picked up this Outlier one after reading about it in our magnetic keychain guide and couldn't be happier. Super easy access to my keys and also pretty secure. Also got my first SAK a few months back (i know right) and have been really impressed so it's replaced my TPT for now.

Wally Micro is still doing it for me and I'm loving the way it looks as it ages. Great little slim thing. The S1 Baton is still my favorite light because of its size and sick build quality, and I swapped out my old Machine Era pen for this Tactile Turn because it has a sturdy pocket clip and I'm tired of losing things I paid money for.

Google Pixel because it's the best phone of the year (@ me bro) and the headphones because they're easy to carry and sound great. I don't smoke but a lighter comes in handy more often than you'd think.

Father’s Day is fast approaching, but there’s still time to give him the perfect addition to his carry. Whether he’s a jetsetting businessman or spends his weekends outdoors, Dad deserves nothing but the best and most useful gear. Get him something practical and memorable from our Father’s Day EDC Gift Guide.

BUSINESS

For the dad who puts on a suit for his nine to five, his carry should reflect his business needs. Lightweight so they don’t slow him down as he makes strides in and out of the office, while still promoting usefulness.

TECH

For the dad living in the digital world, his carry should be efficient and practical in connecting him with his technology. The techie dad’s gear is as modern as his lifestyle is, working in sync with the rest of his carry.

OUTDOOR

For the dad who likes to rough it up and blaze trails on the weekend, his gear should be high quality, rugged, and built to last against the elements. Unexpected adventures await outside, so this dad’s carry should be exceptionally reliable.

ACTIVE

From running a marathon to biking on a mountain pass, the active dad’s carry has to keep up with his lifestyle. The active carry should be resilient in rain or shine, light enough not to slow him down, and help him get the most from his activities.

DIY

For the dad that likes to build, tinker, restore, and repair. Heavy duty needs mean a heavy duty carry, but utility doesn’t have to mean giving up the practicality of a sleek loadout.
