It’s a big EDC market out there, and tons of awesome gear is released all the time. We made The Drop to help you discover the latest and greatest essentials worth a spot in your EDC.

Fixed-blade knives have one significant advantage over their folding cousins: without an opening mechanism, they’re always ready for you to get to work. Their size and relative weight usually relegate them to dedicated outdoors, hunting, and survival roles, but knives like the SOG Ether FX flip that script.

The SOG Ether FX is skeletonized to reduce its weight to 2.1oz compared to a traditional hunter’s knife with brass bolsters and wood inlays, which can weigh much more. Instead, it comes with removable G-10 handle scales. Gone is a traditional fixed camping knife’s standard bulky leather belt sheath. In its place is a modern Kydex sheath with a secure belt loop and compatibility with SOG’s Universal Mounting System, which lets you attach it to bags, packs, and other accessories.

At the heart of the SOG Ether FX is the full-tang CPM S35VN stainless steel blade. S35VN is a quality blade steel that gets sharp and remains sharp enough for confident everyday carry use. With an overall length of 7.1” and a blade length of 3.1”, it’s perfect for everyday carry when you prefer a knife you don’t have to fiddle with to use.

What we like: The skeletonized design of the SOG Ether FX and the secure Kydex sheath make this a stellar everyday carry option for anyone wanting to add a fixed-blade knife to their ensemble.

What to watch out for: The bright orange G-10 handle scales make this knife easy to find in your bag or pack. The scales are removable if the orange aesthetic does not work for you. You can then wrap the handle with the material of your choice or leave it bare to save even more weight.

Final verdict: Smartly designed knives like the SOG Ether FX make carrying a fixed-blade knife easier, even when you’re not a regular outdoors person.

It’s a big EDC market out there, and tons of awesome gear is released all the time. We made The Drop to help you discover the latest and greatest essentials worth a spot in your EDC.

As knife enthusiasts, we’d be lying if we said we didn’t own knives that we would rather admire than put to any hard work. Designed by retired law enforcement officer Nick Swan, the Kansept Knives Model 6 was designed to be practical, not kept away in a safe. And though the Model 6 series may have been created to be a dependable and durable knife used in practical situations, that doesn’t mean they can’t look great either.

The premium stonewashed 3.1″ CPM S35VN blade is impressive right out of the box and can easily cut through paper, cardboard, rope, leather, and much more. This blade holds its edge well and doesn’t require frequent sharpening, and it is also resistant to rust and corrosion, which makes it suitable for outdoor use. As a bonus, the stonewashed finish gives it a rugged and worn-in look that hides scratches and wear. Its sheepsfoot shape lends itself to slicing and precision tasks, and its rear flipper deployment, along with riding on a bearing pivot, means it’s ready to work with a quick flick.

Its eye-catching blue anodized, orange peel textured titanium handle was designed for comfort and a smooth grip. The handle houses a frame lock and a lanyard hole for extra security and customization. Its titanium clip is 3D milled, which means it has a curved shape that conforms to the handle and the pocket and is reversible for left or right-hand carry.

One of the best things about the Model 6 is that it comes in a wide range of combinations that cater to every budget and style preference. You can choose from various handle materials like carbon fiber or G-10 scales. If you want a different blade steel, premium steels such as the CPM 20CV are also available, or you can choose 154CM steel for a more affordable option with its own set of colorways.

What we like: Tons of variations. Mix and match scales and steel to make your knife uniquely suited to your tastes, budget, and everyday use case.

What to watch out for: The frame lock is a higher-tier option than the usual liner lock, but unfortunately, along with the single-position clip, it makes the Model 6 primarily for righties. Bearings are also excellent for fast and fidgety action but can get gunked up over time and with use.

Final verdict: The Kansept Knives Model 6 is a versatile working knife that you can use for daily tasks, with an attractive design across several options that you can easily admire when the work is done.

It’s a big EDC market out there, and tons of awesome gear is released all the time. We made The Drop to help you discover the latest and greatest essentials worth a spot in your EDC.

Morgan Koens is a custom fixed blade maker with a lot of experience creating functional and beautiful knives. Coming from a long history of designing fixed blades, the Shikari exemplifies how he executes a folding knife design, showing his skill and passion for the craft.

The Kansept Knives Shikari SBL has a 3.35” modified clip point blade made of CPM S35VN steel, a premium stainless steel offering excellent edge retention, corrosion resistance, and toughness. The blade has a black stonewashed finish that gives it a rugged and stealthy look. It can be easily opened with the rear flipper tab or by disengaging its namesake button lock, which also serves as a safety mechanism to prevent accidental closure. The blade runs on a ball-bearing pivot system, ensuring smooth and fast deployment with a snap.

The handle of the Shikari SBL is made of black and white “Gmascus,” a composite material made from layered G-10 that mimics the appearance of Damascus steel. The handle scales also feature an anodized titanium bolster that adds strength and durability to the knife. Its contoured shape fits comfortably in the hand to provide a secure grip, while a lanyard hole and titanium pocket clip offer options for easy carry.

What we like: Its big-bellied blade using premium steel makes it suitable for any outdoor task you can throw at it. We also like how the clip point shape echoes its fixed-blade DNA with a long thumb ramp and slick accent swedge.

What to watch out for: If this particular design isn’t to your liking, multiple versions of the Shikari are available, from more premium options featuring 20CV steel and Damascus / Timascus handles to more affordable variants that use 154CM steel to suit your budget. Also, take note that the button lock and clip are, unfortunately, not ambidextrous.

Final verdict: The Shikari SBL combines utility and pleasing aesthetics in a compact and elegant package with an easy-to-use, safe button lock and a comfortable handle with stylish flairs from tip to clip.

It’s a big EDC market out there, and tons of awesome gear is released all the time. We made The Drop to help you discover the latest and greatest essentials worth a spot in your EDC.

When I think of a cleaver-style blade, I envision a large chopping knife more suited for the kitchen than a pocket EDC tool. Whether fixed or folding knives, cleaver-style blades tend to be larger than most compact folding knives that are well-suited for everyday carry. But that’s not the case with knives like the Kansept Mini Korvid folding cleaver knife. Made out of premium materials and with a minimalist look, I think the Kansept Mini Korvid is a knife that’s true to its name.

Few cleaver-style blades for everyday carry come with a 1.45” blade. Even fewer feature premium CPM 35VN stainless steel with a beautiful satin finish and a flat ground edge that takes full advantage of the Crucible steel’s cutting power. But the Mini Korvid, designed by Justin Koch, a well-known pocket tool designer, does that and more. The Mini Korvid’s premium compact blade pairs with a bead-blasted titanium handle that features an overall length of just 3.8” and the security of a beefy frame lock to ensure that the cleaver-style blade remains in place. At the same time, you chop and slice with it in your hands.

I think adding a flipper mechanism makes it easy to operate with a single hand for such a small blade. The finger choil behind the blade’s edge also lets you take full advantage of the length of the knife for controlled and precise cutting when needed. That choil and the flat ground nature of the edge makes it easy to maintain using a whetstone when you eventually dull the knife over time.

What we like: The Kansept Mini Korvid is a compact EDC folding cleaver-style knife that you will easily bring around wherever you go. The use of premium materials makes this a knife that can perform essential tasks without the bulk that a larger blade would bring to the table.

What to watch out for: Unfortunately, the compact size of the Mini Korvid does come at the cost of not coming with a pocket clip. If you need one for your EDC and you hate having tools get jumbled around in your pockets as you walk from place to place, there may be better knives for your needs than the Kansept Mini Korvid.

Final verdict: With its uniquely compact design and premium build quality, the Kansept Mini Korvid delivers on its name. You get a solid EDC folding cleaver-style blade that’s a fraction of the size of other similar knives on the market today.

It’s a big EDC market out there, and tons of awesome gear is released all the time. We made The Drop to help you discover the latest and greatest essentials worth a spot in your EDC.

A pocket knife is one of the most useful tools you can have in your EDC arsenal. But whoever said you’d need to sacrifice form for function? The Kansept Knives Mini Accipiter is a front-flipping, scaled-down version of the popular Accipiter model. It boasts many features and an eye-catching Timascus inlay that make it a worthwhile addition to your collection. Let’s start with the blade. Crafted from premium and robust S35VN steel, this drop point blade measures just under 3 inches, making it legal to carry in many jurisdictions. The stonewashed finish adds a touch of elegance and durability to the blade’s surface, ensuring it remains sharp and resistant to wear and tear.

The main highlight of the Mini Accipiter is its ergonomic titanium handle. It’s designed to fit snugly in the hand, providing a comfortable and secure grip. The unique Timascus inlay on the handle adds a touch of sophistication, making this knife a functioning work of art. Timascus is a titanium composite that is corrosion-resistant, non-magnetic, and lightweight. It consists of two or more titanium alloys (most often grades CP and 6AL4V) and forms different shades of colors when heated or anodized. Each titanium alloy has the potential to create a new color combination, making each design unique.

When it comes to deployment, the Mini Accipiter’s blade front flipper mechanism allows for lightning-fast blade activation without the surplus tab sticking out from the knife, giving it some very clean lines. The reinforced frame lock provides a strong and secure blade lock-up, adding to the knife’s reliability and safety. The Mini Accipiter also features a 3D Timascus pocket clip, proudly displaying its colors when securely attached to your pocket.

What we like: The Timascus aesthetic is something we’ll never get bored of, and pairing that with titanium and S35VN steel is just a winning combination.

What to watch out for: Timascus classifies as one of the more exotic EDC steels, and the price reflects in the Mini Accipiter.

Final verdict: The Kansept Kives Mini Accipiter’s premium materials, standout design, and attention to detail make it an excellent choice for seasoned collectors and newcomers alike.

It’s a big EDC market out there, and tons of awesome gear is released all the time. We made The Drop to help you discover the latest and greatest essentials worth a spot in your EDC.

It’s a huge knife market out there, and sometimes to make the biggest mark, you start with small things. WESN made a name for themselves by perfecting their Microblade, a seriously solid knife built to be a compelling compact EDC. S35VN, titanium, G-10, and a small pile of colorways both neutral and with some pop—the Microblade has a lot to like, and its success has allowed WESN to spin off even more designs like the larger Allman or slipjoint Henry.

And now the brand has taken all they’ve learned and introduced a new member to the family: the Bornas. It’s WESN’s first fixed blade and comes with a history of the Swedish countryside, culminating in a knife they’re sourcing and handmaking in the Nordic country itself. Beyond the fixed blade’s traditions in the outdoors and trade skills, the Bornas is designed to be every bit a modern EDC knife.

It comes with a 2.75″ S35VN blade stock with a super-versatile drop point shape, scaled with either Rosewood or OD green G-10 handles, and comes with a custom leather sheath sourced and made in Sweden as well. The fully-funded campaign has also introduced a Kydex sheath option among its initial stretch goals, and we’ve heard whispers that even more are on the way for the knife itself—maybe options rhyming with burly circh and slack geranium. You didn’t hear it from us.

What we like: Describe the ideal compact EDC fixed blade, and you’ll likely end up with something very much like the Bornas. Solid specs, great everyday size, and a timeless design you can carry for most everyday tasks both indoors and out.

What to watch out for: Standard crowdfunding disclaimer here, so just be aware of how pledging on Kickstarter works. Also, strap in for a bit of a wait, as the target shipping date starts in June next year.

Final verdict: Ticks all the boxes for a premium fixed-blade knife without breaking the bank.

It’s a big EDC market out there, and tons of awesome gear is released all the time. We made The Drop to help you discover the latest and greatest essentials worth a spot in your EDC.

Today we see what happens when a solid, affordable EDC knife gets the chance to spread its wings and get the royal treatment for its design and materials. CJRB’s Pyrite knife has been making waves as an excellent EDC option due to its clean style and thoughtful features at a fantastic price point.

They’ve teamed up with Blade HQ for this unique and premium take, bumping up the 3.11″ AR-RPM9 steel blade to S35VN and the G-10 scales to a wild purple fat carbon design on the show side and a stealthy black on the clip side. And of course, it still comes with the unique button lock that gives it a touch more ease of use and added fidgetability.

What we like: The patterns you get on fat carbon are like nothing else, and the purple used here mixes well with the all-black design. Also, button locks are fun and rare to see, so they’re always a welcome change from the usual liner or framelocks.

What to watch out for: The original Pyrite offered a great knife at a great price, so it may be a bit harder to swallow the higher price point this exclusive is asking for.

Final verdict: Thinking out of the box and offering fresh takes on even the most “budget” knives is always a pleasure to see, even if they aren’t for everyone. Luckily the mainline affordable Pyrite is still around, even if this limited one isn’t up your alley!

You don’t often find craft knives that were hand-crafted themselves, but that’s precisely what you’re getting with the Amsler Knives Hurricane Razor. Built from S35VN steel, the Hurricane Razor is a fantastic option if you’re looking for a premium knife to carry in your pockets as a compact everyday blade or if you plan on doing some crafting or utility work later on.

For the ultimate sharpness, this fixed blade has been sharpened to an 18-degree edge angle with up to 3200 grit; then, it’s detailed by hand. This ensures you’ll get buttery smooth cuts and a long-lasting edge. This new iteration of the knife also features a finer point, similar to a tanto shape, for easier precision work. It comes with small o-rings you place and adjust along the handle to help with grip since the entire build is metal.

This handle features a skeletonized design made with waterjets, which is then hand-finished with belts and buffers. The lack of CNC machining or a mass-production process also means that no two knives are the same, and you can own one uniquely yours. And to complete its premium build, the clip, the spacer, and the screws are all made from titanium. Once you’re done cutting, you can put its included sheath back on to prevent accidental slices in your pockets. Pick one up at the link below.

If you’re looking for a grail-worthy minimalist folding knife to EDC, you might find that your options are actually pretty limited. The team at The James Brand certainly thought so, and they designed The Chapter to offer an ultra-premium minimalist modern gents everyday carry folding knife that sticks to a sleek and clean aesthetic. With minimal moving parts, it’s easy to maintain and care for while offering some of the best performance your money can buy. And since 2014 The Chapter has remained one of the best tools built for hard use and adventure without breaking your aesthetic in the process.

At 2.75″ long The Chapter‘s premium CPM S35VN blade has more than enough length to handle all of your daily cutting and slicing tasks, and the steel composition allows it to keep a hard edge for longer than a standard off-the-shelf knife. It also contrasts well with the slim and sleek 6Al4V titanium handle, which also features a reliable frame lock to hold everything in place even during rough use. The manual right-handed thumb stud deployment is made easier with a cutout in the handle for easy access with one hand, and the ceramic bearings in the pivot of the handle make for a smooth and consistent opening every time. And rounding it all off is the deep carry pocket clip which meshes well with the overall look of the knife, making it a discreet, yet classy, addition to any EDC. Building on the legendary reliability its firearm namesake is known for, the Cold Steel AK-47 is a tank of a knife with a 3.5“ S35VN clip point blade. With the introduction of new lines and with a clear focus on providing high performance at an accessible price point, SOG has some of the best everyday carry knives you can buy today. And they keep on innovating, adding new designs and updating existing products to continue offering some of the best features and value. In particular, the new Ultra XR knife gives you a super-lightweight EDC option with premium materials and top-tier blade steel.

The updated Terminus XR LTE exemplifies SOG’s pursuit of improvement, using carbon fiber liners in the handle to tip the scales even less than the already rock-solid original knife. SOG’s commitment to reinvention and innovation shines brightly with these two new knives, and they should be high up on your list when looking to add to or upgrade your everyday carry folding knife collection.

SOG Ultra XR

The Ultra XR lives up to its name of with some of the best combinations of extreme materials and performance in a knife, executing with an eye-catching CRYO CPM S35VN clip point blade in a gold colorway and a premium carbon fiber handle that offers great contrast as well as ultra-lightweight performance. It’s a complementary pair of features, with the blade being an elite steel with tough and corrosion-resistant properties, strengthened even more with cryogenic heat treatment and a titanium nitride finish, nestled in one of the best strength-to-weight ratio materials available.

The knife itself weighs just 1.2 ounces for barely-there carry, enhanced by the fact that the blade itself is super-thin with a 0.08“ thickness along its 2.8“ length. The secure XR lock in the thin handles can hold the blade in place without a stop bar inside the handle, contributing even more to the narrow profile. And thanks to this profile, the Ultra XR’s titanium money clip can even double as a money clip to consolidate your cash and card essentials into one discreet package.

Check It Out

Terminus XR LTE

LTE stands for “Light Edition,” and this updated Terminus XR LTE is 30% lighter than the original at just 2.2 oz. The weight savings comes from the use of a combination of G10 and carbon fiber in the skeletonized handle and scales, and minimizing everything else save for the XR lock that holds the 2.95″ CYRO CPM-S35VN clip point blade into place after you kick it open with the flipper tab or thumb studs.

Like the Ultra XR, the design of the knife leans towards a sleeker and more slender profile, with the reversible deep carry pocket clip updated to be a bit stronger to ensure the knife stays secure in your pocket even at the lighter weight. But rest assured—the knife is still a serious contender as your next everyday knife. The blade length carries well in most locales, and can slice its way through most tasks thanks to a similar cryogenic heat treatment that gets it to an HRC of 60-62, finished in titanium nitride. And thanks to the new handles, this is one of the lightest and most robust knives you can carry yet.

Although some trends in EDC might lead you to believe otherwise, good things do come in small packages. And in the same way that paring down our EDC to just the essentials is no easy task, neither is designing a minimalist knife that doesn’t feel sterile and unequipped. If there’s one brand that’s up to the task, it’s Brooklyn-based design and manufacturing outfit, Craighill. They’ve brought their tastefully restrained design chops and timeless, organic aesthetic to the humble EDC pocket knife. The Rook debuts as their first entirely in-house knife design with a premium-quality look and feel, scaled down to a surprisingly compact form factor, built to last with top-notch materials.

What stands out most about the Rook is how approachable and beautiful its design is. From its compact footprint to its soft edges and friendly curves, the Rook invites you to handle it as a tool just as much as it invites you to admire it as a functional piece of art. A big factor in establishing this overall non-threatening feel for the knife is its size. The knife definitely measures on the small and slender side, at 3.25“ long when closed and about 0.75” wide. The all-metal handle affords a solid three finger grip, while the section formed from the lock recess and flipper tab, plus jimping on the back of the blade offer additional security and control.

The Rook deploys via a rear flipper tab with a satisfying snap, locking into place with a stainless steel frame lock mechanism. The 2.25“ blade takes on a standard drop point shape with enough belly to maximize its 2” cutting edge for general utility. Despite its smaller size, the Rook doesn’t compromise on its steel. It’s made with premium S35VN to deliver superior cutting performance for most day-to-day tasks that you’d tackle with a knife of its size.

The Rook is available in two color configurations: Tricolor and Stainless Steel. The classy Tricolor variant mates a raw brass front handle that patinas and changes color with age to a stainless steel rear handle and hardware, finished with a black PVD blade. The Stainless Steel version opts for a more muted, monotone steel look, letting the Rook’s silhouette and curves do the talking. Weighing in at 2.2 oz thanks to its all-metal construction, the Rook creates a sense of density and heft for such a small knife and inspires confidence and a feeling of substance in hand. While its all-metal build makes it slimmer and easier to pocket than many other EDC knives, its lack of a pocket clip or lanyard attachment point means you’ll need to carry it loose in your pocket or delegate it to desk duty.

Overall, the Craighill Rook is a beautiful knife that delivers that luxe experience of premium knives to a much smaller scale. In that sense it might not be the go-to EDC knife for everyone and every situation, but it ticks plenty of boxes for EDCers who value this flavor of industrial design and would make for an excellent gateway knife for anyone who appreciates beautiful, functional objects. If that sounds like you or someone you know, be sure to visit Craighill’s site at the link below to learn more about the Rook knife and the rest of their essential goods, ranging from keychains and stash capsules to desk knives and accessories.

The CIVIVI Elementum has been a community-favorite choice for everyday carry over the past year or so, but if you’ve been holding back on giving this folding knife a try because you’re a stickler for high-end premium blade steel, the new BladeHQ exclusive edition of this knife is made for you. That’s because this new release adds CPM-S35VN stainless steel into the mix, mated with a gorgeous natural G10 handle scale that contrasts well with the stonewash finish of the blade itself. The Elementum was always a capable knife, but with this upgrade it’s even more equipped to help you take on any situation.

The use of S35VN lets you get maximum performance out of the CIVIVI Elementum’s 2.625“ hollow-ground blade forged in a drop-point shape for all-around great performance at cutting, slicing, and piercing utility tasks. The premium metallurgy lets you achieve a sharp edge on the blade that lasts for longer despite day in and day out use. This means less time sharpening the knife and more time being able to use it for your everyday needs. For this upgrade, the blade stock measures thinner as well, improving its overall slicing performance. Jimping on the spine of the blade and below the flipper tab afford a secure grip during rough use or more delicate control for precision work. The blade is available in two different stonewash finishes, including a sleek black look that looks especially striking pared with the grippy natural G10 handle scales.

Deploying the blade is quick and easy thanks to a convenient rear flipper tab, making it ideal for fidgeting as well as fast cutting tasks. It locks into stainless steel liners, finished to tonally match blade and hardware color for a cohesive look. An included tip-up pocket clip carries the knife deeply and discreetly for easy EDC, while a built-in attachment point opens up customization options for lanyards, beads, and more.

And even if you already have an CIVIVI Elementum of your own, this exclusive edition is the definitive version of the knife with the best steel that’s ever been sported on this knife and it’s well worth picking up. And due to the limited nature of this exclusive release, you’re going to want to do that sooner rather than later or else you risk it running out once the supply runs out. So make sure to click the link below and secure one for yourself today.

The Urban EDC Supply Rekluse-S folding knife is a premium everyday carry tool in the new Swarm series with a unique design that features top tier materials and ergonomics that will make it a joy to use in hand for all of your everyday cutting and slicing tasks. And unlike many custom and limited edition gear, you don’t have to get lucky with a lottery or wait months and years on a waiting list to grab yourself a Rekluse-S. Thanks to Urban EDC Supply’s pre-order system, you can guarantee a knife for yourself that will be worth the wait.

The standout feature of the Rekluse-S knife is the unique upswept blade designed by customer knifemaker Justin Koch. The extended belly makes it an excellent slicing tool, and the tip is well-positioned to provide maximum control during the cut. And because the 2.8″ blade itself is made out of premium S35VN stainless steel it can keep a sharp edge for longer, especially taking into consideration the design choice to use a compound blade grind that beefs up strength and sharpness where it’s needed.

The top jimping gives you an enhanced grip on the knife, and the aluminum handle is big enough and curved in order to ensure full control. That handle is available in three different materials and colors ranging from brown canvas micarta, jade grippy G10, and an OD green aluminum treatment to suit your style. Plus with its titanium hardware the knife is definitely built to last. And with a non-locking slipjoint design you can take this knife in more places, especially those where locking EDC blades are prohibited, but be sure to check your own local laws.

You will have to wait a little bit until late 2021 or early 2022 to get your choice of Rekluse-S shipped to you. But if the unique design and style appeals to you make sure to preorder and secure one from the Urban EDC Supply link below.

To set yourself apart from the pack, you do what you do best. And what Glow Rhino does best is give your favorite pieces of gear a flash of flair by way of Tritium inserts. They’re self-illuminating isotope capsules that glows as it decays, and they’re found on some of the most premium EDC gear out there. So when Glow Rhino builds their own premium knife with the Reactor, illumination is an essential part of the equation.

The Reactor comes in with a classic drop point shape blade made from premium S35VN stainless steel. This popular utility shape helps it be proficient at cutting, slicing, and piercing for any task that might arise during your day. The blade itself measures in at 2.9“, which is just the right size for most tasks while staying under the 3” legal limit in most locales.

When you take a look at its handles, the double XL Tritium inserts are not the only things that stand out. The handles themselves are built from titanium, putting the Reactor squarely in premium knife territory. This choice of metal gives the Reactor top of the line durability while keeping things light, while also adding in the exotic collectability of the popular metal. Once you deploy the blade via it’s flipper opening, a sturdy frame lock keeps things secure while the knife is in use.

As far as everyday carry goes, you get two options: the first is a double-bolted deep-carry pocket clip, and the second is a lanyard hole in case you prefer to carry it inside a bag or pouch and need a quick way to retrieve it. As an added feature, built into the lanyard slot is an actual pry-bar tool, adding even more utility to an already feature-packed knife.

The Reactor is available in raw titanium look or a stealthier version coated with black PVD. Either way, you get top of the line performance and a glow from the inside that can’t be beat. Pick it up in your choice of finish at the link below.

The CEO from CRKT remains one of the community’s favorite choices for modern gents pocket knife carry today. It has a understated elegance with a slim and sleek design that belies its highly capable blade. And while CRKT has already leveled up the CEO previously with an upgrade to D2 tool steel, they’re outdone themselves with a collaboration with Blade HQ by releasing a premium version of this EDC folding knife featuring high-quality CPM-S35VN stainless steel.

Now outfitted with S35VN, the 3.1″ flat-ground blade on this version of the knife enjoys excellent edge retention. The versatility of the slightly-upswept blade means you’re going to need that added level of performance as you begin to use this daily driver of a knife to accomplish more of your tasks.

The other unique thing about this edition of the blade is the addition of lightweight blue canvas micarta handle scales. The unique color scheme denotes this knife’s special status as a Blade HQ exclusive, and the use of the material helps keep the knife light in your pockets as it weighs just 1.97 ounces. But whether you show off that bright blue handle is up to you: the S35VN CEO retains its right-handed tip-down deep carry pocket clip for low-profile, discreet carry all day.

If you’ve been on the fence so far about getting yourself a CRKT CEO, you should spring for this premium S35VN version of the knife. It’s a fitting addition to an already great and ergonomic everyday carry knife and it should be near the top of your list for knife pickups this year. Check it out today on Blade HQ and buy one for yourself before it sells out.

When knives and premium materials mix, that’s often a recipe for an expensive piece of gear. The moment the spec sheet lists things like S35VN, damascus, carbon fiber, and even micarta, that’s often extra digits added to a price tag. But CIVIVI have made a name for themselves bucking the trend and offering tremendous value with their knives. The Pintail is the latest knife in their stable to give you a premium fit, finish, and style, all while keeping the price within reach for most EDCers.

The steel core of the Pintail is its 2.98″ S35VN blade. It’s a popular choice for high-end EDC blades thanks to its superior edge retention, corrosion resistance and sharpenability, and not the first time it’s made an appearance in CIVIVI’s catalog, notably in their 2020 standout model the Elementum. For the Pintail, it’s kept under the sweet spot of 3″ for EDC, and features a sweeping drop point design with a bold swedge on top as a visual accent. Deployment is via a flipper tab or its ambidextrous thumb studs, with a stainless steel liner lock providing lockup during duty.

The Pintail’s handles come in three micarta colors/variants that offer a natural, comfortable grip, along with a carbon fiber overlay on black G-10 and Cuibourtia wood options that pair with their two damascus models. No matter which you pick, the 6.92“ overall length keeps the Pintail compact in your pocket. A reversible clip maintains its ambidextrous use, with a lanyard hole on its backspacer adding an additional carry or customization option.

No matter how you cut it, the CIVIVI Pintail is a fantastic option for your next EDC knife. Pick out the right variant for you at the link below.
