It’s a big EDC market out there, and tons of awesome gear is released all the time. We made The Drop to help you discover the latest and greatest essentials worth a spot in your EDC.

The Diatomic is a unique flipper knife that WE Knife Company released at Blade Show Texas 2023 to great acclaim, going on to win Best Factory Tactical Knife at the show and winning again at USN’s The Gathering for Best Factory Folder. That it got recognized as a cut above the rest of WE’s already premium knives speaks volumes for this model.

The knife comes with a dagger-style folding blade, which is rare for non-automatic folding knives and especially not dressed up in the four styles the Diatomic comes with, including an extravagant Hakkapella Damasteel. Unlike many traditional daggers or even modern interpretations, the Diatomic features top-tier steel and titanium and an intelligent design that’s a pleasure to use for both work and play.

Speed and symmetry are at the heart of the Diatomic. The smooth flipper mechanism gives you quick access to the single-edge 3.78″ dagger blade that features CPM 20CV stainless steel with excellent maximum sharpness and edge retention, befitting a top-end material. Furthering the symmetric design, it comes with a flipper tab on both sides (but only swings out from one) and a deep carry pocket clip on both sides, giving your fingers a place to grip or rest when using the knife. Machined grooves continue the geometric design started by the clip, adding extra purchase towards the tail end.

The beautifully crafted bead-blasted 6Al-4V titanium handle integrates a secure frame lock that holds the blade open during use. Another safety feature that the flipper tabs append is acting as blade guards on both the top and bottom of the knife to help prevent you from cutting yourself on your knife when you’re piercing through rough material.

What we like: The symmetrical dagger design of the WE Knife Diatomic makes it one of the best knives for piercing and cutting with its larger blade and its outstanding point. And true to WE fashion, it comes with the best materials you can find on a production knife.

What to watch out for: While the Diatomic has a blade with a symmetrical dagger profile, only one of the two edges is sharp. The single-edge design is safer and more accessible for anyone not used to EDCing an actual dagger and better accommodating laws where a double edge may not be allowed.

Final verdict: WE knives are already at the top of the game, and the Diatomic leads the pack as a two-time champion.

It’s a big EDC market out there, and tons of awesome gear is released all the time. We made The Drop to help you discover the latest and greatest essentials worth a spot in your EDC.

If you love to EDC the color black but find it hard to find an elegant blacked-out pocket knife because of all the aggressive tactical folders on the market, look no further than the WE Knife Co. Cybernetic. The Cybernetic features an attractive, slim, sleek design with clean lines and an immensely technical but minimalist look that makes it right at home in a cyberpunk’s EDC.

It starts with the slender 3.91″ long modified black stonewash finished tanto-point blade. WE bills it as a unique blade shape; you can see why with one look. The tip is upswept, with a slight curve, giving it a robust slicing belly and a fine tip for delicate work that a regular tanto can’t do. And because the blade is made out of quality CPM 20CV steel, you get high hardness, maximum sharpness, and edge retention out of the box. Additional grinds on both sides of the blade reinforce the angular aesthetic.

The blade’s clean lines transition smoothly into the handle design, and the all-black look accents well with the bronze-colored hardware. Both sides of the titanium handle have no additional embellishments, save for the geometric design lines (which also accent the milled titanium clip) and the frame lock. And rather than opting for an exposed rear flipper tab that would break up the design, a tiny tab is on the top of the handle instead for an action not unlike a front flipper.

What we like: When you see a blacked-out EDC knife, it tends to feature a tactical design with serrations and other defensive features that seem out of place from a regular everyday carry. The Cybernetic’s understated but futuristic design is a standout in the space.

What to watch out for: This is a knife designed mainly for righties, due to its fixed clip and framelock. That said, users can look forward to five styles, including a slick Damasteel blade variant.

Final verdict: When it’s only 2023 and you need a knife for 20XX, the Cybernetic is the pickup.

It’s a big EDC market out there, and tons of awesome gear is released all the time. We made The Drop to help you discover the latest and greatest essentials worth a spot in your EDC.

Once in a while, among the droves of pocket knives that we see come and go, we see a knife that causes us to do a double take. The WE Knife Co. Nexusia Titanium Knife is one of those knives. We’ve come to know WE Knife Co. as manufacturers of some of the best value-for-money knives out there, and this Nexusia flipper is no exception.

The Nexusia is a rather hefty knife, with an overall length of 8.30” and a blade length of 3.48”. The blade is made from premium CPM 20CV steel, one of the best steels in the market for edge retention, corrosion resistance, and toughness. Its drop point style makes it highly versatile and suitable for various tasks, while the blade’s design with a deep fuller adds some flair while simultaneously making it lighter and stiffer.

Its handle is exceptionally comfortable, thanks to its larger size. Since the handle and frame lock are made from titanium, durability will never be an issue. However, What caught my eye is its tiger stripe flamed finish–not something you see every day on titanium–which gives it a unique look that truly stands out. The handle also has machined holes and a flamed pivot, adding texture and contrast to the design.

The flipper opening is smooth and fast, thanks to the bearings in the pivot. The flipper also acts as a guard when the knife is opened, preventing the hand from slipping onto the blade.

What we like: Not only does it look great, but the Nexusia’s size lets it be extremely capable of handling any task you throw at it.

What to watch out for: It’s a limited-edition premium piece, meaning stocks will be limited and come with a price tag to match. It’s also currently on pre-order, so you’ll be waiting a bit to get yours. Lastly, it’s a righty-only model, so unfortunately not optimal for lefties.

Final verdict: The WE Knife Co. Nexusia is an attractive, well-made knife that presents a great showcase of the kind of quality and craftsmanship that WE Knife Co. is capable of.

It’s a big EDC market out there, and tons of awesome gear is released all the time. We made The Drop to help you discover the latest and greatest essentials worth a spot in your EDC.

If you’ve ever thought about what it might be like to see the EDC knife of your dreams become a reality, look no further than the Big Banter from WE Knife Co. That’s because the entire Banter line gets its name and design from Ben Peterson, a former Blade HQ host on their show called–you know it–Knife Banter. And what he came up with is a knife that mixes minimal design with quality materials and good ergonomics while not being so expensive that you have to take out a mortgage to pay for it.

While the original Banter was a medium-sized 2.875″ EDC knife, the Big Banter sizes things up with a more drawn-out and beefier 3.69” drop-point blade made from premium CPM 20CV stainless steel. The larger size gives you more cutting surface area, and the additional heft makes forcing this knife through rough material easier when piercing through something challenging. But like the original blade, the opening remains a manual thumbstud affair, albeit with a smooth pivoting action that makes it easy to flick open even with the Big Banter’s extended size.

One of the most excellent editions of this knife is the combination of the black stonewashed blade with the natural undyed G-10 handle scales that offer a unique translucent look while giving you the best grip texture needed to handle a knife of this size. And with the right light, you can see the liner lock through the handle, helping it hold the blade in place during rough use.

What we like: The mix of excellent ergonomics, quality materials, and sized-up proportions make this the best Banter if you want a larger knife for everyday carry. The additional size and weight can give you the confidence to take on larger tasks.

What to watch out for: The increased size makes this a more prominent and heavier knife than the original. If the design language of the Big Banter appeals to you, take a look at the standard and smaller sizes of this knife which bring things down to something more pocket friendly while keeping the strength of the overall design, which makes the Banter line such an excellent choice for EDC in general.

Final verdict: Whether you prefer the Big Banter or any other small and large edition of this knife, it’s an excellent knife for everyday carry. The strength of its design and the knife’s popularity in the community means it deserves your consideration.

It’s a big EDC market out there, and tons of awesome gear is released all the time. We made The Drop to help you discover the latest and greatest essentials worth a spot in your EDC.

I’ve always been a fan of the karambit knife and its curved “tiger’s claw” blade, not just because it looks cool, but because of the finger ring at the end of the handle, allowing for a more secure grip and more ways to hold the knife. They aren’t the most versatile of knives, however. They’re great for slashing since the knife’s design was originally implemented in farming tools. Still, the traditional drop point blade will always have an advantage for more practical uses involving piercing or chopping tasks.

But what if you could have both? Custom knife maker Geoff Blauvelt of Tuff Knives fame wondered the same thing, leading him to design a premium pocket knife collaboration with WE Knife Co. that combines the best of both worlds: the Envisage karambit.

Featuring both the finger ring of a karambit and a drop point blade, the Envisage is a high-quality premium pocket knife that ticks all the boxes. The 2.42” blade is made from CPM 20CV, a premium stainless steel with excellent edge retention, corrosion resistance, and wear resistance. It’s one of the best steels for high-end knives and can handle any cutting task you throw at it. Its stonewash finish complements its black titanium handle perfectly, with the 4.88” handle’s ergonomic design offering a comfortable grip, made even better by subtle curves and grooves and milled patterns that add some texture and also reduce weight.

The blade is opened by a thumb stud that’s easy to access and provides smooth deployment thanks to the knife’s ball-bearing pivot system. The blade locks securely with a titanium frame lock with a steel insert for added durability. The lock is easy to disengage and has no blade play or lock stick. With a price of around $300, you’re paying for premium and definitely getting it. Its milled titanium pocket clip is reversible, low profile, and rounds outs its list of premium features.

What we love: Premium materials and craftsmanship in a knife that blends the awesome style and finger ring of the karambit with the versatility of a drop point blade–what more could you ask for? Well, besides a more affordable price, that is.

What to watch out for: Its thumb stud opener might be challenging for some to access or deploy.

Final verdict: The WE Knife Co. Envisage karambit is a stunning piece of craftsmanship that offers solid performance, style, and utility and is an excellent choice for anyone who loves karambits but wants something more usable and practical for everyday carry.

It’s a big EDC market out there, and tons of awesome gear is released all the time. We made The Drop to help you discover the latest and greatest essentials worth a spot in your EDC.

The Livewire is Kershaw’s first double-action OTF automatic knife for everyday carry, bringing to bear their experience with assisted folders. If you’re unfamiliar with this blade mechanism, the thumb slide on the side of the handle deploys and closes the Livewire’s 3.36″ spear-point blade out of and into the aluminum handle. Almost like a light switch, you can open and close the blade repeatedly. The double-action automatic opening makes it easy to bring the super-premium CPM 20CV stainless steel blade into play. It also lets you play and fidget with the knife when you need to occupy time between meetings and appointments.

We’re excited to see Kershaw enter this category of EDC knives, and we’re likely to see more automatic OTFs from them in the future. Being an automatic knife, the Kershaw Livewire may not be a legal option for you to EDC, so it’s essential to check your local laws first. But if you’re lucky enough to carry this knife, you can get one of the freshest and fastest out-the-front automatic knives for your everyday carry by checking it out at the link below.

What we like: Quick automatic OTF double-action mechanism lets you deploy the blade quickly in cramped spaces. The Kershaw Livewire is also specifically built in the USA by Kershaw.

What we don’t like: The Kershaw Livewire is pricey, and this style of knife tends to be more restricted than other options. The spear-point blade shape on the Livewire could be better for slicing tasks, but it lacks an edged belly.

Final verdict: if you’re looking for a unique American-made EDC knife with fast deployment, this is a new and exciting top-shelf option for you to consider.
