It’s easy to get lost in a market packed to the brim with great knives. In the past month alone we’ve covered dozens of great knives that each deserver a place in your EDC. But sometimes a knife comes along that surprises us, offering great features, a slick aesthetic, and is actually something you can buy right now. True to their name, Quiet Carry silently released a new version of their cult favorite Drift knife, and on paper it offers tremendous value and features for an EDC blade. With collectible titanium models already selling out and vibrant, colorful G10 models on the way, the new Drift is one blade to keep an eye on.

Despite its looks as a modern ultralight titanium blade, the Drift is actually designed as an all-purpose, extreme weather slicer. This is thanks to its nitrogen-based Vanax Super Clean blade steel, an extremely tough and corrosion-resistant steel designed for even the most saturated saltwater environments. This latest version of Vanax appears on the Drift in a slim 2.98“ drop point with plenty of belly for slicing tasks.

Rather than deploying via a cutout on the old version of the Drift, ambidextrous thumb studs now flank either side of the clean, flat ground blade. Phosphor bronze washers ensure that the Drift’s edge flies out at a moment’s notice, and a frame lock with an LC200N/Z-FiNit lock bar insert (itself a highly resistant material) keeps the blade secured in while in use.

6AL 4V titanium handles with chamfered edges continue the sleek design of the Drift, and makes the knife feel smaller in hand than it actually is. Use of titanium also keeps its weight down to a lightweight 2.6 ounces for ease of EDC. Flattened pivots and screws keep the knife’s profile slim, and the only outstanding features on the handles are Quiet Carry’s subtle 4-four dot branding on either side, as well as a deep carry wire clip for right-handed carry.

The new Quiet Carry Drift is stacked with features in a knife that’s as comfortable in an urban EDC as in your toolbox for your next weekend expedition. A sleek, versatile design, exceptional materials, and a lightweight profile make it an excellent all-arounder, with an added touch of collectability on top. Pick it up from Quiet Carry below in your option of blade and titanium handle finish, and watch out for the colorful G10 models coming out in March.

It can be a bit too easy to make the assumption that there’s a trade off between hard-use, practical EDC knife designs and pocket knives with pleasing aesthetics. The truth is that these two qualities are not mutually exclusive, and you can find designs that accomplish both aims, and few knife manufacturers make this point so clearly as Quiet Carry does. They specialize in making quality everyday carry knives with attention to detail, premium materials, and a touch of class. But lest you think these are knives meant to be coddled and put away in a display case, each one has a practical design that makes them well-suited for big tasks. If you aren’t familiar with what Quiet Carry has to offer, in this guide we round up their strongest offerings that you can buy right now and make a case for their place in your EDC.

The iQ

This is the discreet iQ, a slim and compact modern gents’ knife with a 3D-machined stonewashed titanium frame that’s both lightweight at 2.2 oz and durable with a reliable frame lock. The iQ has a modified sheepsfoot style blade that makes it versatile for all forms of daily tasks, with a 2.9″ flat ground plain edge that has great chopping characteristics while keeping enough of a belly to make it good at slicing. A sharp tip that lets it pierce through rough material as well. The blade itself is available in your choice of super-premium ELMAX or CPM-20CV stainless steel, and deployment is made easy with its one-handed flipper tab opening with ceramic ball bearings at the pivot.

The EDDY

If you’re a fan of G10 handle grips on EDC knvies but you don’t like the overly-tactical design bent they usually come with, the EDDY knife is for you. The EDDY features a slim, compact, and minimal design with a manual right-handed eye-hole opening and a well-rounded 2.45″ flat ground clip-point blade secured with a liner lock that will serve you well with any task you have in mind. If you plan on rougher use, you can get the EDDY with partial serrations that let you saw through rough materials like wood and thick rope on a regular basis. The knife is available in premium CPM-20CV stainless steel or LC200N steel that’s been formulated for extreme rust resistance.  Choose the LC200N blade with the hook shaper and make this little worker your go to fishing knife.

The Chase

The Chase was designed from the ground up to be a more rugged knife, but that aim hasn’t taken away from its looks, making it great for both for the wet outdoors and a quiet office commute. Streamlined organic curves dominate its design language, including the ergonomic shape of the molded grippy G10 handle with a deep guard for your index finger for complete control over the cut. The 2.95″ drop point blade also features a significant belly for slicing and a detail tip for precision work made easier with the top jimping on the blade. Like the EDDY knife, opening is easy with the eyehole in the blade itself. You can also pick between both super-premium 20CV stainless steel and corrosion-resistant LC200N when picking your choice of design.

The Waypoint

Another folding knife you should have your eyes set on is Quiet Carry’s Waypoint knife, which comes back in stock this month and will be a staple design. It features their cleanest and most understated design yet, but its looks belie its capability as an all-purpose cutting tool suitable for the biggest and toughest tasks. It starts with the 6AL4V titanium handle featuring marine-grade SST hardware and a corrosion-resistant clip. A secure liner lock holds everything in place, made out of extreme corrosion resistance LC200N/Z-FiNit stainless steel. The hollow-ground 3.31″ hybrid drop and clip point blade features super-premium Vanax SuperClean steel that’s near the top when it comes to edge holding and corrosion resistance. The end result is a clean-looking knife that won’t weigh you down at 2.7oz with a manual thumbstud opening and superior water and corrosion resistance. The Waypoint is part of the Element series featuring everyday salt cutters.

The Current

While its fixed blade design might preclude the Current from most people’s EDC, it’s Quiet Carry’s take on a dedicated outdoors knife. It’s suited for saltwater or wet conditions with a beefy 3″ drop point blade that comes with cleaver-like chopping performance, while still having a belly that goes from heel to pointed tip that’s excellent for scoring and gutting your day’s catch. Its full-tang construction features the same extreme corrosion resistant LC200N steel featured in a lot of Quiet Carry’s folding knives, but with absolute reliability in that there are no moving parts involved. The 3D G10 handles look attractive but they also provide the user a secure and ergonomic grip on the knife which makes it a comfortable choice for long-term camping use and food prep applications.

Pocket knives can be one of the most versatile tools in your EDC, but local laws can sometimes be a little strict. Quiet Carry, the company that brought us the Mini Q Key organizer, has a new Kickstarter campaign for two stealthy pocket knives: The West for those who can’t carry locking blades, and the Strand for those who can.

The West has a 2.5” non-locking blade built into a sleek body. For a better grip, there’s a small notch thoughtfully placed halfway down the handle for your middle finger. A strong spring holds it in the open position to ensure that the blade won’t close during use. And at only 1.9 oz, you’ll find that the West is a great pocket knife for the urban EDCer.

If slip joints aren’t your thing (or if knife laws are in your favor), the larger Strand knife is worth a look. It shares the same slick aesthetic as the West, but with a larger handle and 2.8″ frame-locking blade. The Strand features two thumb studs and an easy lock bar release for one handed operation. For optimal comfort, the finger notch lies at the top of the handle—ideal placement for your index finger.

Both models are made of Grade 5 Titanium and have a pocket clip incorporated into the handle, making them great for EDC. The campaign has already been funded so if you want to secure one of these knives for yourself, make sure to follow the link below.

Finding a good way to carry your keys isn’t easy. More often than not, many EDCers simply end up dangling theirs from a carabiner (sometimes alongside a keychain knife). The Ti Mini Q takes a minimalist approach to key organization while incorporating features usually found on multi-tools.

For example, it comes with a built-in 2.35” interchangeable blade. You can configure a traditional plain edge drop point blade, or get one with a built in bottle opener. If you don’t want to carry a locking sharp edge, you can configure the Mini Q with a versatile flathead/bottle opener option instead.

We’ve mentioned before that titanium is a great material for EDC because of its durability and light weight, and the Mini Q’s grade 5 titanium scales securely store up to 8 of your keys without taking up a lot of space or weighing you down. The ergonomic design also allows for easy one-handed usage thanks to strategically placed cutouts in the body.

And while many key organizers don’t take into account bulky car keys and remotes, the Mini Q offers a clever workaround with the included smartloop that you can attach them to. For a polished solution to the ever-persistent keychain problem, pick up the Ti Mini Q by clicking on the link below. (Also available on quietcarry.com)
