Discommon has recently released the next iteration of its popular stitch-free wallet, aptly named The Wallet 3.0. This release marks the third generation of its thermoformed wallet, first launched in 2016. It features a sleek and minimalist design that can hold up to six cards, three on each side. Prioritizing style and durability, it’s made of top-grain nappa leather and micro-suede interior. It features a new and more complex form that allows a little “flip lip” to assist in opening.

One notable change in The Wallet 3.0 is the removal of the RFID blocker, which was present in the previous generations. According to Discommon, the RFID blocker affected the product’s longevity and was “mediocre in its abilities in such a small wallet.”

The Wallet 3.0 is not only a cult item for Discommon but also one of the most requested products by its customers. The brand said that it received a lot of inquiries and feedback about its wallet and took its time refining and improving the design.

Best Metal Wallets

Metal wallets are popular because of their durability and resistance to wear and tear, which is great for those who go through several wallets a year. Unlike leather wallets, which can crack, fade, or tear over time, metal wallets can last for years without losing their shape or functionality and are also less likely to be damaged by water, fire, or other elements. Most metal wallets are slim and minimalist, designed to hold only the essential cards and cash, reducing the bulk and weight in your pocket. Metal wallets can also offer RFID protection by blocking the radio frequency signals used to read the information on your cards. Some metal wallets also have built-in tools, such as bottle openers, screwdrivers, or knives, that add more functionality to your carry.

Ridge Wallet

The Ridge Wallet is a master class in durable, minimalist design. Two metal plates bound together with tough elastic bands hold up to 12 cards in a sleek, pocket-friendly package. Metal plates have the added benefit of RFID-blocking technology for a more secure carry. If you happen to carry cash, you can fold your bills and tuck them away under a sturdy stainless steel money clip or flexible cash strap to suit your taste. Finally, a thumb cutout lets you push your cards out or quickly retrieve them. The Ridge also comes in other light yet strong materials, like titanium and carbon, and has a lifetime warranty for good measure.

GOVO Badge Holder Titanium

The GOVO badge holder consolidates your essential cards into a lightweight, easy-to-wear package. It has a lightweight 2.7 oz, CNC-milled titanium frame that holds up to four cards. The card-holding mechanism itself is spring-loaded, meaning that your cards are secure even if the wallet isn’t loaded to its full capacity. The metal clip on the wallet allows for versatile carry on your belt or attached to your gear. As its name implies, the GOVO wallet also functions as a badge holder, with a transparent 2mm polycarbonate screen on one side that can display your credentials as you head in and out of your school or workplace.

Best Minimalist Wallets

Minimalist wallets are easy to access and use, often with features that allow you to quickly retrieve your cash and cards, such as thumb cutouts, spring-loaded ejectors, or pull-tabs. Their main draw is that they’re less bulky and more comfortable to carry than traditional wallets since they encourage you to carry only what you need and avoid hoarding unnecessary items. Stylish and functional, minimalist wallets come in various designs, materials, and colors that suit different preferences and lifestyles. Some minimalist wallets also have additional features that other wallets don’t have, such as built-in bottle openers, RFID-blocking technology, or air tag holders.

Alpaka Ark Card Wallet

The Alpaka Card Wallet is made from X-Pac VX21 fabric, a high-performance material that is water-resistant, UV-resistant, and 100% climate-neutral. The wallet has two card slots on each side, which can hold 4-6+ cards and a main opening for storing cash or receipts. Available in multiple colors, the Alpaka Card Wallet is designed to be slim and lightweight, so you can easily slip it into your pocket or bag. It’s also made in the USA with up-cycled materials, which means you support a sustainable and ethical business.

MOFT MagSafe Wallet Stand

There aren’t a lot of wallets that double as an accessory for your iPhone, which is why the MOFT MagSafe Wallet Stand “stands” out. This wallet can snap onto your iPhone with MagSafe and securely hold up to three cards. More than just a wallet, it also doubles as a stand that lets you enjoy your phone in portrait, landscape, or floating mode, allowing you to watch a video, browse the web, or go on a video call when you’re out and about. The wallet is made of soft vegan leather and comes in four colors to match your style. The MOFT MagSafe Wallet Stand is a great way to add functionality and convenience to your iPhone without adding bulk.

Best Slim Wallets

Slim wallets offer a convenient and stylish way to carry your cards and cash without adding too much bulk or weight to your pocket. Since they’re more comfortable and ergonomic than traditional wallets, they reduce the pressure and strain on your spine and hips, saving you from long-term damage from bad posture. Slim wallets can be made of leather, metal, fabric, or synthetic materials resistant to wear and tear, water, fire, and RFID scanning, often sporting minimalist and elegant designs.

Pioneer Molecule Cardholder Wallet 2.0

One of the lightest wallets we’ve ever used is the Pioneer Molecule. At 0.1 oz, the cards in it weighed more than the wallet itself. Pioneer achieved this by using its unique 10XD material to make the entire wallet. It’s a super strong and lightweight polyethylene that repels both dirt and water. It has two card slots on the front and back for quick access to a main debit card or a driver’s license. The main pocket can hold the rest, along with some cash. You can carry up to six cards and a few folded bills. It comes in five colors (and an alternate, luxurious 3PN material), so you can’t go wrong with any of them.

CountyComm X-Pac Extreme Matrix Card Holder Wallet

As its name implies, the CountyComm X-Pac Extreme Matrix is made from X-Pac, a multi-layered laminate fabric that traces its roots from sailmaking and has exceptional durability, water resistance, and lightweight performance. The wallet has a dual pocket design that can hold up to 12 cards and 10 bills comfortably and features double-stitched nylon piping for extra strength. The wallet also has a unique woven matrix appearance, giving it a modern and stylish look. Each wallet is 100% unique and made from sails, so you can be sure you’re getting a one-of-a-kind product.

Best RFID Blocking Wallets

RFID stands for radio frequency identification, a technology that allows data to be stored and transmitted wirelessly using small chips embedded in cards, passports, and other items. RFID-blocking wallets offer a way to prevent identity theft and fraud by blocking the radio signals that can be used to read the information on your cards. These wallets come in various shapes, sizes, materials, designs, and features.

Secrid Cardprotector Titanium

The award-winning Secrid Cardprotector might be for you if you have an eye for design. It fits six cards yet only weighs 1.7 oz, making it feel like it disappears in your pocket. The cardholder has a spring-loaded lever on the bottom that fans out your cards for easy pickings. When you’re done, push them back inside the RFID-blocking titanium chassis, and the cards stay hidden from view. As the core of their system, Secrid’s Cardprotector is their most minimal wallet. You can add an optional cash strap if you need to carry cash. The pop-up mechanism is excellent, giving you faster access. However, remember that more moving parts mean it’s more likely to fail than alternatives.

Flipside 4

Flipside’s flagship RFID-blocking wallet isn’t your run-of-the-mill, ultra-slim cardholder type of everyday carry wallet. It’s closer to a portable vault that you can slip into your pocket thanks to its structured, crush-resistant clamshell design. It’s made from high-strength polycarbonate resin and aluminum to deliver scratch resistance, RFID protection, and overall durability in a lightweight frame. Despite its rigid materials, the Flipside 4 rides comfortably in the pocket due to its smooth edges and rounded corners.

Best Carbon Fiber Wallets

Carbon fiber wallets are durable and resistant to wear and tear. Unlike leather wallets, which can crack, fade, or tear over time, carbon fiber wallets can last for years without losing shape or functionality. These wallets are also less likely to be damaged by water, fire, or other elements. They also often offer RFID protection, with some featuring built-in tools, such as bottle openers, screwdrivers, or knives, that add more functionality to your carry.

Fantom X

The Fantom X improves on the original minimal wallet’s crowdfunded design with its unique fanning system and Cerakote finish, making it incredibly abrasion, scratch, and chemical-resistant. This carbon fiber cardholder wallet is available in three different capacities, which provide a fixed number of card-carrying capabilities based on your needs. The Extra Slim can carry 4-7 cards, the Slim can carry up to 5-10 cards, and the Regular can accept 7-13 cards. The Fantom X was also designed with modularity in mind, meaning you can customize it to carry more than your cards, with add-ons for things like your cash, keys, coins, and more.

Dango M1 R-Spec

Dango’s new R-SPEC updates Dango’s already successful line of minimalist wallets with a winning combination of aerospace-grade aluminum and carbon fiber, offering a fast track to tough but light storage of your cash and cards. If you’re already familiar with the M1 slim front pocket minimalist everyday carry wallet, the new R-SPEC version retains those great features with a new automotive-inspired look. The wallet offers a 10-card total capacity and built-in RFID-blocking technology to keep your card details safe. Their precision-milled 6061 aluminum chassis has been spiced up with a beautiful high-gloss prismatic powder coat of paint in your choice of white, black, red, and cement gray. On the other side of the carbon fiber panel is a fine top-grain leather siding accentuated with high-contrast red stitching, befitting those found on a nice driver’s bucket seat when you’re behind the wheel.

Best Bi-Fold Wallets

The traditional bi-fold wallet has been a popular choice for generations for a reason. Offering a balance of utility and practicality, bi-folds have a classic design that can fit most paper bills and cards without folding or damaging them. Bi-fold wallets are easy to open and close, allowing quick access to their contents. Unlike tri-fold wallets or zippered wallets, bi-fold wallets don’t have extra folds or closures that may slow down the user or make the wallet bulky. Some materials you’ll find on bi-fold wallets are canvas, nylon, plastic, paper, and of course, leather.

Magpul DAKA Bifold

Magpul has serious expertise in crafting quality polymer goods, and they put that knowledge to work when assembling their DAKA line of minimal everyday carry wallets. Their bifold offers more capacity, especially for those of us who need room for cash. But it retains the slim, bombproof, and lightweight polymer construction that made Magpul’s first offerings such community favorites.

Hayvenhurst Billfold

The classic bifold gets a unique and feature-packed twist with Hayvenhurst’s take on the design, pairing the practicality and utility of a well-made money clip and modern materials and construction. This bifold packs plenty of features into its 100% full-grain leather design, including carbon fiber accents, an ID window, and front slots with a cutout for quick access to your most essential cards. A minimal money clip takes center stage inside the bifold, and RFID blocking adds security from unwanted access.

Best Zippered Wallet

Zippered wallets offer a blend of security and organization with multiple compartments that provide effective organization for cards, cash, and other essentials. Beyond functionality, zippered wallets come in materials such as leather, nylon, and canvas, which provide durability. Some models even incorporate RFID protection, enhancing security against electronic theft.

Distil Union ZipWallet

Distil Union’s ZipWallet is designed for those who tend to carry just a bit more than their cards and some cash while remaining compact and highly portable. Its double-gusset design provides ample space and easy accessibility, making organizing your everyday carry items easy. The ZipWallet is made of full-grain leather certified with a gold rating for environmental standards. The premium YKK zipper ensures your wallet is secure and compresses your items into a sleek package that fits comfortably into your front pocket. For some added peace of mind, the ZipWallet is RFID-shielded, ensuring that your tap-and-go cards remain safe while still accessible through the exterior slot.

Bellroy Card Pocket

The Bellroy Card Pocket features many of Bellroy’s hallmark features: a slim design, thoughtful organization, and premium leather. The Card Pocket uses a 3/4 zipper to secure up to a whopping 15 cards and cash. Inside, a slanted internal pocket can tuck away a few cash notes or separate your more frequently used cards. Between its high capacity and zippered design that lets it carry coins and different currencies, the Card Pocket makes an excellent travel companion thanks to a built-in SIM card slot. It’s available in five gorgeous colors made from environmentally certified leather.

Best Tri-Fold Wallets

A trifold wallet offers several benefits and combines practicality and efficiency in a compact design. The trifold design provides more storage space with multiple card slots and is a little more secure than the average bifold wallet. The folding structure contributes to a slim profile, making it convenient for pocket storage without adding unnecessary bulk, and their sleek designs make the trifold wallet a versatile and stylish accessory for everyday use.

Pacsafe RFIDsafe Trifold Wallet

The Pacsafe RFIDsafe Trifold Wallet is a slim, eco-friendly wallet that protects your identity and valuables. It has RFID-blocking material that prevents hackers from scanning your cards and stealing your information. It also has a Velcro hook and loop fastener closure that keeps your cash and cards secure. The wallet has a note slot that fits all currencies, five slots for business or credit cards, a mesh window slot for your ID card, and a zipper back pocket for coins. You can also attach the wallet to a Pacsafe bag or a cut-resistant security strap (sold separately) for extra safety.

Flowfold Recycled Sailcloth Traveler

The Flowfold Recycled Sailcloth Traveler is a trifold wallet that combines style and functionality. It is made from recycled sailcloth, a material used in racing boats for its strength, durability, and lightness. This wallet is stronger than steel, waterproof, and tear-resistant, making it ideal for outdoor adventures. It also has a slim and sleek design that fits comfortably in your front or back pocket. It has enough space for all your essentials, with five card slots, an ID window, and a long cash pocket that can hold international currency.

5 Tips to Purchase a Great Men’s Wallet

Style and Design

Choose a wallet that suits your style and matches your outfits. Different types of wallets include billfolds, cardholders, money clips, and phone case wallets. Each type has advantages and disadvantages, depending on how much you need to carry and how often you use your wallet. For example, if you prefer a minimalist and sleek look, you might opt for a cardholder or a money clip that can fit in your front pocket. If you need more space and functionality, go for a billfold or a phone case wallet that can hold your cash, cards, ID, and phone.

Wallet Material

Pick a wallet made of durable and eco-friendly materials that can last long and minimize your environmental impact. For a good reason, leather is the most common and popular material for wallets: it’s sturdy, elegant, and versatile. However, not all leather wallets are created equal. If you’re going for the leather look, you should look for full-grain or top-grain leather wallets, the highest grades of leather that retain their natural texture and strength. Avoid wallets made of genuine leather or bonded leather, which are lower grades of leather processed and glued together from scraps. Alternatively, you can also choose wallets made of synthetic or natural materials, such as nylon, canvas, cork, hemp, or recycled plastic. These wallets are usually lighter, cheaper, and more sustainable than leather wallets.

Functionality

The wallet is an everyday essential, so select a wallet with the features and functions you need and use regularly. Some features and functions you can consider are the number and size of card slots, cash compartments, coin pockets, ID windows, RFID protection, and zipper or snap closure. If you only carry a few cards and cash and want to access them quickly and easily, you might prefer a wallet with a money clip and a card slide.

Color

Opt for a wallet with a color that reflects your personality and complements your wardrobe. Some of the most popular colors for men’s wallets are black and brown since their understated hues make them easy to match with everyday wear. Colors like red and yellow pop out and draw attention, which might not be the best idea for an item that holds your cash. Of course, your wallet’s color is completely based on your preference, so choose a wallet color that makes you happy whenever you pull it out of your pocket.

Price

Finally, choose a wallet that fits your budget and offers good value for money. Wallets vary widely in price, depending on the brand, quality, design, and features. You can find wallets that cost as low as a few dollars and wallets that cost a hundred times more. The price of a wallet doesn’t necessarily reflect its quality or functionality, so you should research and compare different options before buying a wallet (just like you’re doing now with this guide). You should also look for discounts, sales, and coupons that can help you save money and get a better deal.

FAQs

Which brand is best for men’s wallets?

Different brands appeal to different tastes, preferences, and budgets. Some notable brands include Tom Ford for their refined and luxurious aesthetic, Herschel for its durability and functionality, and Ridge with its aluminum body and elastic strap that expands to hold up to 12 cards.

What type of wallet lasts the longest?

Traditional wallets made with full-grain leather can last up to ten years or more with proper care. Other materials that are also long-lasting include nylon, vinyl, polyester, and faux leather. Many modern everyday carry wallets are made with aluminum or titanium, which could last much longer.

What are the benefits of a bifold wallet?

With two foldable panels that can store cards, cash, and other items, bifold wallets carry many benefits. They are slim, compact, and flexible, making them suitable for front and back pockets (but do your back a favor and only carry it in front). A bifold wallet is also ideal for carrying cash since you can store your cash with a single fold, unlike trifold wallets that require multiple folds. Bifold wallets also come in various shapes, sizes, colors, and materials, making it easier to find a wallet that suits your taste and preference. You can also choose from eco-friendly and cruelty-free options, such as leaf leather.

What wallet for men is best for storage?

If you tend to carry many cards, the Ridge Wallet can hold up to 12 cards and cash, and it can also hold keys, coins, and other small items with the optional cavity tray accessory. For those who need to store more than cards or cash, zip wallets like the Distil Union ZipWallet can store coins or small items such as jewelry or even USB flash drives.

It’s a big EDC market out there, and tons of awesome gear is released all the time. We made The Drop to help you discover the latest and greatest essentials worth a spot in your EDC.

Many people need cash in their everyday carry, and it’s not optional. If you’re one of those people, finding the right wallet to carry cash and cards together without the bulk of a traditional bifold wallet can be tricky. While there are a lot of minimalist card holders out there, the correct answer for you is to choose a bifold with quality materials and construction that set it apart from a bulky leather back pocket wallet. An example of this is the new Pioneer Matter Baby Ballistic. This slim and convenient bifold wallet features a unique technical fabric construction that makes it more durable and lightweight than a traditional wallet made of cowhide leather.

The Pioneer Matter Baby Ballistic wallet gets its name from the unique fabric they’ve woven to make this slim front pocket bifold. It’s a ballistic nylon fabric with a finer weave that makes it smoother to the touch and thinner than you’d find in tactical applications of that fabric style. This masterfully constructed material is precision stitched to help make the Matter carry up to 12 payment and identification cards and folded bills. Of course, you will get the best results if you can pare down to the essentials. But carrying cash with the Matter is an inherent design note, not an afterthought.

At 6.45” wide when fully opened, this wallet is much smaller than the standard bulky leather wallet, making it far more EDC-friendly. And unlike your dad’s tired old leather wallet, the Matter won’t stain or warp if you accidentally spill a beer on it the next time you’re at a restaurant. That’s because the technical Baby Ballistic fabric shrugs off that kind of water exposure. You can even put this wallet through the wash to clean it if you want to. No one has to know you forgot to check your pants pocket before doing the laundry.

What we like: The durable and water-resistant material used to make the slim Pioneer Matter Baby Ballistic sets it apart from a traditional leather bifold. It’s one of the most slim EDC bifold wallets you can choose, and it deserves your attention.

What to watch out for: Unlike some of the other editions of the Pioneer Matter bifold, the Baby Ballistic is only available in black. And if you’re looking for a compact EDC wallet that lets you carry bills without folding them in half first, check out Pioneer’s Altitude line instead.

Final verdict: If you’re looking for a dedicated cash carrier, the Pioneer Matter Baby Ballistic is one of the best on the market. It eliminates the bulk and fragility of the big back-breaking wallets your parents used to carry.

The metal plates also offer the added benefit of RFID-blocking technology, ensuring a more secure carry.
When it comes to cash, I have the option to fold my bills and tuck them away under a sturdy stainless steel money clip or a flexible cash strap, depending on what I think I’m going to be doing that day. I find the CountyComm Woven Dyneema Card Holder to be an exciting wallet thanks to its unique combination of materials. It’s made with a waterproof and stretch-resistant sailcloth material, interwoven with Dyneema matrix fibers, which results in a lightweight yet incredibly durable wallet that weighs only 0.35 ounces. This sailcloth material is the same one used on high-tech racing sailboats, ensuring toughness and reliability.

Having cards pop up at the push of a button has to be one of the coolest ways to retrieve your cards. That’s what makes Hayvenhurst’s Pop Up minimalist wallet such a great option. It has a sleek design that can hold 4-5 cards while taking up next to no space in my pocket. The aluminum construction with a carbon fiber pattern lets it stealthily fit in with the rest of your carry while also blocking RFID signals.
On the outside is a multi-purpose cash strap that hangs on to folded bills, notes, and other items without bulking up its slim design. And any time you need your cards, one push of its signature button fans them out, ready for use at a moment’s notice. It never gets old.

If you want to keep your wallet’s size to a minimum, the Distil Union Wally Micro 4.0 is hard to beat. It’s made of a single piece of full-grain leather that only looks better with time. There’s also a built-in pull tab here which makes accessing cards a breeze, and even when it’s packed to capacity, it’s still smaller than almost any standard bifold or trifold.
The Wally Micro also comes in two colors and is completely reversible. So if you get bored quickly (like I do) with the color you selected, you can flip the wallet inside out, and it’ll feel brand new. While there isn’t a dedicated pocket for coins or a money clip, it comes with an elastic cash strap that I find perfect for a few folded bills.

This super slim wallet is only 0.12” thick, so it feels super light in the pocket, and you barely even notice it. It can carry up to 7 cards and a folded bill or two, which is nice, plus it also has three separate pockets.
I easily fit my emergency credit card in one, ID card and building access card in the other, and still have space for a few folded bills. The wallet is made from a water-resistant, rugged reinforced polymer fabric, too, so I don’t have to worry about getting caught in a storm. One of the lightest wallets I’ve ever used is the Pioneer Molecule Minimalist wallet. At 0.1oz, the cards I put in it weighed more than the wallet itself. Pioneer achieved this by using its 10XD material to make the entire wallet. It’s a super strong and lightweight polyethylene that repels both dirt and water.
Regarding capacity, it has two card slots on the front and back for quick access to my main debit card or a driver’s license. The main pocket can hold the rest, along with some cash. Altogether you can carry up to 6 cards and a few folded bills. It comes in 5 gorgeous colors (and an alternate, luxurious 3PN material), so you can’t go wrong with any of them.

How to Choose the Best Minimalist Wallet For You

Of course, depending on a person’s preference, what’s best for them may vary, but we have a short list of things to consider in buying the best type of minimalist wallet for you:

  • Product durability: A wallet is one of the few EDC that you’ll likely always have on you. Some people carry flashlights, others carry knives or fidget toys, but everyone has their wallet on them. So when you’re looking for a wallet, make sure it’s made from a material that will last. Whether you go with a classic leather wallet or a durable metal one, you should be confident that the material will hold up.
  • Wallet space / Capacity: A good wallet is only good if it can hold everything you need. Make sure that the wallet or card case you choose has enough card slots to hold everything you need.
  • Materials used: Wallets aren’t made from only leather anymore. You can choose from many new materials, including technical ones like X-Pac and Dyneema. Whichever one you go with, ensure you’re comfortable with the pros and cons of the material and the craftsmanship.
  • Can fit most pockets: Whether you’re looking for a slim front pocket wallet or one that will live in your bag, you should ensure the wallet is easy to carry. While larger bifold wallets are always a good choice, they tend to be larger, making it harder to fit in small shirt pockets or jacket pockets.
  • Lightweight: Your wallet shouldn’t weigh you down. Some of the wallets on this list weigh mere ounces. Even if you go with a durable metal option with extra functionality, make sure that you’re okay with a heavier item to add to your EDC.

FAQs

Should I buy a minimalist wallet?

The slimmest wallet you can get is the Magpul DAKA Essential Minimalist wallet which measures 0.12” thick. After adding your cards and cash, it will get thicker, but not by much, and you’ll still have easy access to the cards that matter most.

What is the slimmest wallet?

The slimmest wallet you can get is the Magul DAKA Essential Minimalist wallet which measures 0.12” thick. After adding your cards and cash, it will get thicker but not by much, and you’ll still have easy access to the cards that matter most.

What are the benefits of a minimalist wallet?

One significant benefit of a minimalist wallet is freeing up pocket space. A bulky tri-fold can take up a pocket all by itself, not to mention that it isn’t good for your back if you’re putting that wallet in your back pocket. A minimalist wallet can free up space so you can carry other essentials. Plus, many minimalist wallets provide easy access to one or two of your most used cards, so you rarely have to dig for the one you need.

What is the best slim wallet on the market?

The best slim wallet depends on what you’re looking for. A metal wallet like the Ridge Wallet is a great option if you want something durable and easy to use. If you’re looking for something made of quality leather with an easy-to-use design, the Bellroy Slim Sleeve might be more up your alley.

It’s a big EDC market out there, and tons of awesome gear is released all the time. We made The Drop to help you discover the latest and greatest essentials worth a spot in your EDC.

We love our minimalist wallets, but if we’re being honest, they’re not the best at storing the occasional rogue items we might be carrying in our pockets: some spare coins, a single key, or maybe a tube of lip balm. Distil Union’s new ZipWallet is designed for those who tend to carry just a bit more than their cards and some cash while remaining compact and highly portable.

The Distil Union ZipWallet‘s double-gusset design provides ample space and easy accessibility, making it easy to organize your EDC items. It has two generously sized interior slots for cards, while the fabric-lined coin pouch is meant to carry extra items such as coins, keys, an Apple AirTag, or even a small multi-tool. The external quick-access slot is perfect for your tap-to-pay and NFC cards, ensuring you never have to scour through your wallet to find them. You can organize folded bills on either side or beneath the floating pocket.

What we like: The double-gusset design gives the ZipWallet some impressive capacity while remaining relatively slim and pocket friendly.

What to watch out for: While the ZipWallet is designed to stay slim, it can be bulky when making use of all its capacity.

Final verdict: With its high-quality materials, relatively large capacity, and slim design, the ZipWallet is perfect for those who aren’t ready for a minimalist lifestyle and need to carry just a bit more.

Ten years ago, a father-and-son team worked together to reinvent the traditional leather bifold wallet. Today, the much-loved Ridge Wallet has converted millions of leather bifold wallet users over to the slim side, with its sleek outer plates providing added levels of security while maintaining a conveniently minimalist profile. It’s appropriate then that with Father’s Day just around the corner, The Ridge finds a way to seamlessly blend the old and new with a unique addition to their collection: The Ridge Leather Wallet.

Maintaining the classic feel of leather on a wallet and how it patinas over time, the Ridge Leather Wallet substitutes its aluminum, titanium, or carbon fiber outer plates with full-grain leather for the first time. Available in two colors, Tobacco Brown and Midnight Black, the new leather-wrapped outer plates have been oil-waxed for the perfect sheen and built to patina—just like your dad’s favorite wallet.

Refined yet durable, the Ridge Leather Wallets are soft to the touch while remaining scratch-resistant and are still packed with all the RFID-blocking security features of the original metal wallets. The new collection also introduces a new cash strap, with a luxurious sewn-leather pad replacing the metal buckle found in previous Ridge Wallets.

Like the rest of the Ridge Wallet line, the new collection can up to 12 cards without stretching out and are backed by the Ridge’s lifetime warranty, making the Ridge Leather Wallet the first-ever leather wallet with a lifetime guarantee.

If you’re still searching for the perfect Father’s Day gift, the Ridge Leather Wallet makes for a unique and practical gift that any dad or father figure would appreciate. A big part of the fun of EDC is mixing and matching your gear to help you better prepare for what you are likely to face throughout the day. Looking at the contents of someone’s pockets can tell you a little about them or what they value. But regardless of what someone does, there are a few EDC staples that basically everyone has: keys, phone, and wallet.

While the smartphone is certainly taking on more and more of the responsibility that usually goes to wallets (like holding credit cards), a good old-fashioned wallet doesn’t seem to be going anywhere. Losing something as important as your wallet can turn an average day disastrous. That’s why we’ve compiled a  list of the best AirTag wallets, so whether your wallet was stolen or you just forgot it in the Uber, you’ll always know exactly where it is to get it back.

What Is an AirTag Wallet?

An AirTag wallet is any specifically designed to accommodate Apple’s AirTag tracker. You can stuff an AirTag into any wallet you own if you really want to, but because of the odd shape of an AirTag, it most likely won’t be a seamless experience. AirTag wallets make it easy to ensure that you always know where your wallet is.

How does an AirTag wallet work?

AirTags are slightly rounded and look more like a mint than a piece of tech, but finding a wallet that it will comfortably fit in can be hard. These wallets have all been built from the ground up with that in mind. An AirTag wallet will have a slot that will perfectly fit the AirTag into your wallet. Then you won’t have to worry about constantly taking the AirTag in and out.

Advantages of Using AirTag Wallets

The simple act of adding an AirTag to your wallet can make your daily life that much easier. Not only will you be thankful for it in the unfortunate case that someone steals your wallet, but it’s also super convenient in less extreme situations as well. The next time you’re running late and can’t find your wallet, you can just pull out the Find My app and make the AirTag loud beeping until you find it. A lot of AirTag wallets will also add extra peace of mind with RFID blocking, so you won’t have to worry about your information getting swiped by people trying to do harm.

Factors to Consider When Choosing an AirTag Wallet

There are a few key aspects that you should take into account when deciding on an AirTag wallet. Just like any wallet, there are obvious things to look out for, like size and design, but in this case, you should also be aware of any extra features and overall compatibility with AirTags. Is it compatible with AirTags, or did the manufacturer rename a card slot? It’s good to know these things before making a decision.

Size

Whether you want an AirTag wallet or not, one of the most important features of any wallet to consider is the size. AirTags are roughly the size of a quarter but also thick and bulbous. You want to get a wallet designed to accommodate that. Starting with a slimmer wallet is a great idea since it will still be skinny once you’ve added the AirTag.

Design

Like all EDC gear, the design of your wallet should match your overall taste. You won’t want to carry something every day if you hate how it looks. Whether you’re going with a rugged, all-metal construction or a classic full-grain leather wallet, you shouldn’t overlook the aesthetic value of whatever you choose.

Material

The materials of your wallet are essential to consider as well. Thankfully, there are plenty of wallets to choose from. So whether you want a metal wallet that can resist almost any amount of damage or a leather one that will patina nicely with time, be intentional about which you choose. There are even carbon fiber options if you want something with a little more personal style that won’t add a ton of weight to your everyday carry.

Durability

The durability of your wallet is closely tied to the materials you choose. A metal wallet will likely last the longest and can easily take a beating, but they’re also the least flexible. You won’t be able to jam in a ton of cards (not that you should anyway), but if that’s your style, a leather material might be better for you. Leather is a tried-and-true material for wallets and will only look better as the years pass.

Features

Modern wallets can do more than just hold your cards and some cash. Paying attention to which wallets offer RFID-blocking technology. Some wallets also have add-on accessories that make your EDC even slimmer. If you’re looking to maximize the usefulness of something you carry with you every day anyway, a wallet is a good starting point to try and consolidate a few items.

Security

AirTag wallets offer plenty of peace of mind regarding security as well. Some of them offer RFID blocking to protect against people trying to steal your information, and they also let you know in real time where your wallet is. On top of being able to track down your wallet if it gets stolen, you can also find it even if the situation isn’t as dire. You can track it down in the Find My app if you misplace it somewhere in your apartment or accidentally leave it at the bar.

Compatibility

One thing worth remembering is that these wallets are all made to work with Apple AirTags. AirTags are just small, Bluetooth trackers. They have discreet and intentional ways of ensuring the wallet can hold an AirTag. While you can also stuff an AirTag into your wallet and call it a day at best, it will likely be uncomfortable and fall out at worst. An AirTag-compatible wallet or wallet case might not seem like a big deal, but it’s more convenient than it seems.

Best AirTag Wallet FAQs

Is AirTag wallet worth it?

Getting an AirTag wallet is worth it, even if you aren’t into tech. The convenience of knowing that no matter what, you can find your wallet is hard to overstate. That said, it’s worth mentioning that to take full advantage of the AirTag, you’ll need to have an Apple ID and, ideally, an Apple product that you can use to track down your wallet in emergencies.

Are Apple AirTags good for wallets?

Apple AirTags weren’t necessarily made to fit into wallets, so it’s not a perfect one-to-one fit for most wallets. But plenty of manufacturers intentionally designed ways to incorporate the AirTag into their wallets, making the AirTag a must-have accessory for them.

How far can you track an AirTag?

People can track devices from the other side of the world using AirTags. They work on a mesh network, so whenever your AirTag gets within Bluetooth range (roughly 30 feet) of any Apple device (even ones you don’t own), it will ping the network with its last known location. Considering the sheer amount of Apple devices in the world, this means that as long as you don’t drop your wallet in the middle of the Sahara, you should be able to track it down.

What does AirTag wallet mean?

An AirTag wallet is a wallet designed with Apple’s AirTag in mind. They have dedicated designs that make adding an AirTag to your EDC easy.

Since its introduction a decade ago, the Ridge Wallet has redefined how we look at EDC as a whole by combining form and function in a product that improves on the traditional folding wallet–solving a bulky problem with a sleek, minimalist solution. The idea of taking something that works but improving it to make it work better is one of the core philosophies of EDC, and it’s a philosophy that popular clothing line TravisMathew imbues into their products as well. It shows up in unexpected details across their clothing line, such as pants that feature hidden pockets to hold small items, a strip of Velcro sewn in to hold a golf glove, or their use of lightweight, wrinkle-resistant, quick-dry fabrics that feature a comfortable 4-way stretch.

It’s this shared passion for innovation, modern design, high-quality craftsmanship, and the desire to improve the performance of everyday items that makes The Ridge’s collaboration with TravisMathew work so well, reflected in three new Ridge Wallet designs under the TravisMathew brand: TM Camo, TM Floral, and TM Palms.

All three designs feature sleek outer plates made from 6061-T6 aluminum for excellent corrosion resistance and durability. TM Camo showcases gray hues on a powder-coated gunmetal surface, with the UV-printed classic camo design resembling the fairways and bunkers you’d find on a golf course. TM Floral takes inspiration from TravisMathew’s Southern California roots, featuring UV-printed palm tree leaves on a blue powder-coated case. TM Palms reflects the freedom of breezy beaches, with engraved palm trees on a gunmetal-colored anodized case.

Each Ridge Wallet can hold up to 12 cards without stretching out, with some added versatility present via the optional money clip or cash strap. It blocks RFID to prevent wireless theft and is backed by a lifetime warranty, giving you both a sense of security, peace of mind, and the assurance that The Ridge stands behind their products.

The Ridge x TravisMathew collection is all about moving you forward instead of holding you back–just like a game of golf. These new designs are on a limited run, so hurry and grab yours at the link below.

The Competition

In your search, you may come across these products, but we don’t recommend them, and we’ll explain why below.

  • Ekster Senate Wallet: This features a pop-up mechanism similar to Secrid’s, which means it has the same drawback of having moving parts that can fail over time.
  • Fidelo Prestige Wallet: This wallet comes with a similar plate-and-elastic band setup to the Ridge Wallet, but is only available in carbon fiber, compared to the number of materials and designs available from Ridge.
  • ROCO Slim Wallet: The ROCO Slim Wallet features a plate design like the Ridge Wallet but uses a silicone band instead. This silicone band is a standout difference but has less give and flexibility than the elastic band on a Ridge Wallet.

Why Should I Look for Alternatives?

Taking stock of what’s available when picking out new EDC gear is always good. That’s why we’ve put together some of our favorite alternatives to Ridge Wallets in this guide. And while the Ridge Wallet is one of the best everyday carry wallets, it’s not for everyone. For example, suppose you’re a person who needs lots of dedicated organizational space in your wallet. In that case, the Ridge’s simple design does not cater to you.

And while you can carry some folded cash with a Ridge Wallet, it’s designed for someone with a limited amount of hard currency or none. While the metal construction of the Ridge provides durability and easy access, it won’t work if you prefer the softer touch a leather wallet provides.

Another consideration is price. You can use the coupon in this guide to save a bit on a Ridge Wallet. However, its exceptional design and construction require a higher price than some people may have in their budgets.

Things to Look For

As you search for an alternative to a Ridge Wallet, it’s essential to focus on the following key features that make for an excellent everyday carry wallet.

Functionality

If you need to carry a lot of cash, EDC-friendly minimalist bifold designs will accommodate your needs. If you can pare things down, you can opt for less-bulky wallets that use removable cash straps and cash clips for the off chance that you need to have the hard currency on you.

High-quality materials

Pick an EDC wallet that isn’t a knockoff made so cheaply that it will fall apart after a week of use. The best wallets for everyday carry are made of quality materials like titanium, aluminum, stainless steel, leather, and technical fabrics that come together in a practical package that’s better than a dollar store special.

Multi-tool components

Some of the best wallets for EDC integrate a multi-tool into the design, meaning they do more than hold your everyday cards and cash. While you won’t need to use all of the functions all the time, it’s nice to have, and it can help your wallet stand out in your EDC.

RFID protection

Modern credit and debit cards feature tap-to-pay chips in their design that allow them to work with point-of-sale terminals without swiping or inserting the card into a reader. This makes for a convenient shopping experience but can expose your personal information to thieves and scammers if left unguarded. Many ID cards and access cards also emit these signals. A wallet like the Ridge Wallet with a majority metal construction helps block them from being read from the outside.

FAQ

Is The Ridge Wallet really good?

The Ridge Wallet is one of the best everyday carry wallets you can buy, and it comes with a lifetime guarantee. That’s why so many people in the EDC community carry one daily.

Is The Ridge wallet trackable?

The Ridge Wallet only has built-in tracking if you pick a model or accessory that works with an Apple AirTag. You can also use a credit card-sized tracker like a Tile Slim inside the wallet. Either of those options works if you carry an Apple iPhone.

What is The Ridge wallet made of?

The Ridge Wallet is made of two metal plates held together with durable elastic bands. This allows the wallet to compress to the number of cards you carry. You can choose between many decorative faceplates as well as clip options.

Does the Ridge wallet have a money clip?

The Ridge Wallet has two kinds of money clips. The first is an elastic band on the wallet’s exterior that lets you carry folded bills. The other is a clip that can also double to keep the wallet in your pants pocket like a deep carry clip on a folding pocket knife.

Ten years ago, a father and son team started the Kickstarter idea of a front-pocket wallet built from premium metals meant to replace bulky fabric and leather bifold wallets with something more streamlined and minimalist. Fast forward a decade later and the Ridge Wallet has found its way into over 5 million pockets, received more than 50,000 five-star reviews, and redefined how millions of people look at their everyday carry.

To commemorate its 10th anniversary, The Ridge has released a limited edition 10 Year Anniversary wallet inspired by the original design that started it all, with a brushed aluminum finish, silver screws, green elastic cash strap, and the original Ridge logo.

This time around, the 10 Year Anniversary wallet comes with all the patented technology and improvements of a modern Ridge Wallet that make it an EDC favorite today: a slim, compact profile that holds up to 12 cards without stretching out, RFID protection to prevent wireless theft, scratch resistance, a lifetime warranty, and a virtually bombproof construction.

Despite being a throwback to the very first Ridge Wallet design, it offers plenty of unique details you can’t find on other Ridge Wallets. It’s the only offering to feature a brushed finish on its 6061-T6 aluminum outer plates, as well as the only wallet with colored elastic. The green elastic band is a nod to the old Kickstarter tradition of producing limited quantities of a special green version to reward community members who showed support and backed the project.

Besides releasing the commemorative 10 Year Anniversary Wallet, the Ridge also wants to make you a part of the celebration by offering a 20% sitewide sale on all items, with additional discounts available for The Ridge Daily Driver Kit at 30% off and Everyday Carry Kit at 40% off, making it the best time to start your EDC journey, or add to your growing collection.

Those looking to add a piece of history to their EDC kit shouldn’t wait too long. The 10 Year Anniversary Ridge Wallet has a very limited production run and will no longer be available once it sells out. So hurry and grab yours at the link below.

The color green’s association with military forces is well-known throughout history, as gear and equipment in OD Green (Olive Drab Green) were widely distributed to large conscripted armies during WWI and WWII thanks to its ability to blend with natural elements, particularly in forested environments. We don’t have many reasons to employ tactical camouflage when it comes to our EDC, but there’s no denying that the color just looks really cool, and one we’ve been waiting on The Ridge to deploy on their best-selling Daily Driver kit.

The Ridge Daily Driver kit consists of their much-loved, fan-favorite Ridge Wallet, the durable and smooth writing Bolt Action Pen, and the key organizing Ridge KeyCase, each sporting the new Matte Olive theme. Since its initial release, the Ridge Wallet has found its way to millions of pockets, thanks in no small part to its ability to minimize the bulk of traditional two-fold wallets, with the added benefit of blocking RFID signals. Its outer plates are constructed from reliable T6 6061 aluminum alloy, giving it aerospace-grade strength, scratch resistance, and corrosion resistance without adding too much weight. And like all Ridge Wallets, the Matte Olive Ridge Wallet can hold up to 12 cards and some cash via a Cash Strap or Money Clip.

The Matte Olive Bolt Action Pen compliments the Ridge Wallet perfectly in terms of durability and build quality, with its shell also crafted from T6 6061 aluminum. Its CNC lathe knurled textured grip allows you to maintain good control while writing, and its pressurized ballpoint refill gives the pen reliable writing performance on nearly any surface.

The last item in the Ridge Daily Drive kit is the Ridge KeyCase, which streamlines and organizes your keys in a compact silhouette. The Matte Olive KeyCase is likewise made with T6 6061 aluminum and secures up to six of your keys via a patent pending tension plate system. A manganese spring steel clip provides easy carry options in your pocket or bag.

Not only are all three items in the Matte Olive Collection awesome additions to any military-themed carry, but they’re also essential EDC items in their own right. They’re designed to simplify and streamline the way you go about your day and are a perfect starting point for anyone who is just beginning their EDC journey. The Best Tactical Card Holder Wallet: Dango T01 Tactical EDC Wallet

Not all things are as they appear at first glance. Take the Dango T01 Tactical Wallet for example. What looks to be a simple cardholder wallet at first is actually a well-made multitool that just happens to also moonlight as a wallet. The frame is entirely CNC-machined aluminum cleverly designed to perform up to 14 functions. Not only can it hold 12 of your most-used cards but it also has a built-in serrated blade, nail pryer, and phone stand to name a few. For a Made in the USA wallet that’s tough as nails (and can help you pry some too) make sure to keep the Dango 01 Tactical EDC Wallet on your radar.

The Best Leather Card Holder Wallet: Filson Bridle Leather Card Case

If you’re after a compact, perfect for front-pocket carry then the Bridle Leather Card Case by Filson should be on your shortlist. This leather wallet has three slots for just the essentials, so if you’re looking to replace your bulky bifold with something a little sleeker this is for you. It is handcrafted from vegetable-tanned leather right here in the USA and the seams are sewn using durable nylon that shouldn’t fray at the first sign of struggle.

It even has a MIL-SPEC paracord binding and RFID protection for good measure. An integrated money clip keeps a few folded bills securely stashed while the main section easily holds up to ten cards. A convenient cutout in the leather makes finding the card you need at the moment effortless and a built-in bottle opener means you won’t be caught off-guard at the next get-together.

Trayvax Contour Wallet

Not all card-holder wallets need to look like a single folded piece of leather. Case in point: the Trayvax Contour Wallet. This ultra-thin wallet has a leather lining cleverly attached to a CNC-machined metal frame with a built-in bottle opener. There’s a main center cash pocket for folded bills and four card slots that are excellent for carrying just the essentials.

Card Holder Wallets FAQs

Why is a card holder better than a wallet?

A card holder is better than a regular wallet because it takes up less space in your pocket. With more stores accepting cards and electronic payments via smartphones, you probably don’t need a regular wallet to carry cash and coins. A card holder helps you carry just the essentials and eliminates bulk from your pocket.

How do I choose a card holder wallet?

Choose a card holder that’s easy to use and has enough room to carry your essential cards. Make sure the card holder is also built with quality materials that are durable enough to carry every day. Also, consider the aesthetics of the card holder and how it matches your personal style.

What are some of the benefits of a card holder wallet?

A card holder keeps your cards organized, protected, and easy to access. Card holder wallets usually weigh less and take up less space compared to a regular wallet. A slim wallet that fits in your front pocket can help you avoid the pain of sitting on your wallet in your back pocket.

Even with mobile apps like Apple Pay meant to store your cards digitally, you’d be hard-pressed to find a person not carrying a good old-fashioned wallet in their pocket. At the very least you still need to carry your ID and a credit card (or debit card) just in case, like when digital payments aren’t accepted at your favorite lunch spot. And though full-grain leather wallets and those made of fabric are still the go-to favorites for many, a slim-profile metal wallet might be the rugged solution you need.

Not only do you get the obvious durability and unique design of metal protecting your essentials, but some of them also come with a few extra useful features like quick access, RFID-blocking, or discreet tools that add more functionality to your carry. A few of the wallets on this list also sport lifetime warranty service, giving you confidence that they’ll last through the years. Steel wallets are surprisingly lightweight, and there are always aluminum wallets if weight is your biggest concern.

Whether you’re tired of replacing top-grain leather wallets that won’t stand up to everyday wear and tear or want to slim down for front-pocket carry, these are some of the best metal wallets around.

The aluminum wallet construction with a carbon fiber pattern lets it stealthily fit in with the rest of your carry while providing RFID protection. A multi-purpose cash strap can hang on to folded bills, notes, and other items without bulking up its slim front-pocket design. And any time you need your credit cards, one push of its signature button fans them out, ready for use at a moment’s notice.

Machine

The Most Premium Metal Wallet: Machine Era Co. Ti5 Slim

The Machine Era Ti5 is a titanium wallet that features a bottle opener directly in its body. The elastic band holds everything in place in this slim card protector wallet but it also lets you hold folded bills without them falling out during use. Because it’s made out of titanium, it’s lighter than if it was made out of steel, and it’s also immune against corrosion.

Trayvax

The Most Rugged Metal Wallet: Trayvax Contour

The Trayvax Contour is one of the EDC community’s first and finest tactical wallets made of metal. This made-in-the-USA front-pocket wallet features a leather and metal chassis that gives easy access to the contents. The skeletonized design also helps it operate as an ID window if you carry your driver’s license at the edge.

AVIATOR

The Metal Wallet With the Most Options: AVIATOR Slide Slim

The Aviator Slide Slim Metal Wallet features a unique design that centers around an easy-access pull strap that allows credit cards to be fanned out of the Slim Wallet in seconds. You pick the size of the wallet based on the number of cards you need and slim down to the required number of cards. An external elastic band lets you carry a limited number of folded bills on the side. And if you prefer a lot of material options and capacity sizes, AVIATOR has you covered with dozens of styles and colorways to choose from.

Dango

Dango D03 Lite Dapper Rail Metal Wallet

The Dango D03 Lite Dapper Rail is a minimalist take on the metal wallet design featuring 6061 aerospace-grade aluminum and an elastic band that helps keep the debit cards secure inside but also allows for secure carry of folded bills. It features Dango’s signature overbuilt design language in its most minimal form, keeping your essentials light but secure and protected.

Secrid

Secrid Cardprotector Metal Wallet

If you have an eye for design, then the award-winning Secrid Cardprotector might be for you. This aluminum cardholder has a spring-loaded quick access lever on the bottom that, when deployed, fans out up to 6 debit cards for easy pickings. When you’re done, just push it back inside the RFID blocking case, and the cards stay hidden from view, electrical or otherwise. The Secrid Cardprotector is one part of a system, so cash carriers can opt for an extra elastic band, while EDC minimalism aficionados will find it useful as is.

AKEENI

AKEENI XSTO Metal Wallet

The XSTO is a highly structured credit card holder that fits 8 payment and debit cards into its aluminum and carbon fiber body. Unlike a lot of other slim wallets in this list, the XSTO wallet requires you to carry the maximum capacity in order to make it secure, but XSTO offers variations to fit your exact carry needs. The quick access fan of cards works very well, and the carbon fiber portion allows for some of your most frequently-used cards to be quickly found.

Are metal wallets good? Pros and Cons

Like any other EDC product, metal card wallets have both positives and negatives that you should consider when making your choice to convert to slim metal card holders or not.

Pros

Metal card holder wallets are the perfect front pocket EDC choice for anyone into minimalism. Until traditional top-grain leather bifold wallets, these wallets handle card slots by slimming things down to the essentials. Gone are the ID windows and bulky cash pockets. In their place are the money clip wallets and aerospace-grade metal wallets that provide RFID blocking for your metal cards.

Cons

Slim front pocket steel wallets and other metal card holders might not be the best option if you carry a lot of cash. While a lot of these quick access card holders allow for some folded bills, if you deal mostly in cash instead of credit cards or debit cards, picking a metal wallet isn’t the best option for you.

Choose the Best Metal Wallet Material For You

When it comes to picking the best metal wallet for your EDC, there are a lot of options out there, and a bunch of different materials to choose from.

Stainless Steel

Stainless steel wallets have enough durability to provide a slim front pocket wallet experience while being strong enough to pull double duty with multi-tools and other useful features built into the wallet itself. The density of the metal also helps with RFID protection.

Aluminum

Aluminum wallets typically feature aircraft-grade alloys that provide high-quality durability while being lighter in weight compared to steel wallets. The aluminum plates also help keep your credit cards organized in a sturdy and structured area.

Titanium

Titanium wallets are one of the most premium metal wallet offerings, giving you a slim and lightweight front pocket wallet. Unlike stainless steel wallets, titanium wallets are impervious to corrosion, and cardholder wallets made out of this material are some of the best metal wallets you can EDC today.

Carbon Fiber

Obviously, carbon fiber is not a metal, but lots of slim credit card holders feature this material. This lightweight and stylish material pairs well with a stealthier EDC, reducing the overall weight and making it better for front-pocket carry.

Metal Wallet FAQ

Are metal wallets good?

Unlike traditional bifold wallets made of top-grain leather, metal wallets are more durable and tend to be slimmer. They carry all the access cards, business cards, and credit cards you need to get through your day.

Where do you buy metal wallets?

Water can be your best friend on a hot day. But it won’t be so kind to your favorite EDC wallet, even if it’s made with the best leather. While materials are essential for any item in your everyday carry, you should also keep carry conditions in mind. For example, you don’t want your wallet bleeding dye into your pants or peeling apart after getting caught in a rainstorm or spilling your drink at the bar. One way to ensure your valuables stay nice and dry is to pick up a quality waterproof wallet.

This guide will highlight waterproof and highly water-resistant wallets that won’t leave you peeling apart soggy bills.

The best overall waterproof wallet for most people would be the Skog A Kust Planbok wallet due to its combination of materials and design. It’s made of TPU-coated CORDURA Ballistic, a high-quality brand-name material with excellent water resistance and durability against abrasion. It’s held together with high-frequency welded seams to better seal out water compared to traditional stitched construction, which pokes holes into the fabric. This bifold design features card slots for easy access and an ID window on the exterior for displaying your driver’s license. Two large internal pockets can be sealed using a Ziplock-like mechanism to keep contents dry. To top it off, the wallet can also float, making it an ideal choice for handling near large bodies of water.

The Pelican G5 is the only fully waterproof, RFID-blocking aluminum wallet on this list. As such, it’s also an excellent solution if you need a travel wallet since it’ll keep your valuables safe in every sense. Undoing its water-tight clasp grants access to its two internal pockets, fitted with a rubber mesh and rubber band to hold various items like your credit cards, driver’s license, folded cash, or even a spare key. The wallet is admittedly on the thicker side due to its crushproof aluminum construction and larger capacity to carry around ten cards. Luckily, it’s still slim enough for front pocket carry. The G5 comes with a wrist lanyard as another way to carry it. If you need the highest level of protection and a larger capacity to hold various essentials, we recommend the Pelican G5 RF Field Wallet.

How to Choose the Best Waterproof Wallet for EDC

There are several factors to consider when choosing a waterproof wallet. Some are the same for any wallet, while others are more specific to resisting water. When selecting a wallet for everyday carry that’ll hold up in wet conditions, consider the following:

  • Materials: When it comes to the best waterproof wallets, you want to avoid canvas wallets or leather wallets that soak up water and get damaged. Instead, look for technical synthetic fabrics and anti-corrosive metals to protect from moisture.

  • Functionality: EDC wallets usually prioritize easy access and slimness over everything. For a more weather-resistant front pocket wallet, look for features like watertight zip closures, sealed seams, and clasps to keep water out.

  • Durability: Generally, waterproof and weather-resistant wallets will be heavy-duty enough for everyday carry. If you choose one with the materials and hardware mentioned above, chances are it’ll have long-lasting durability.

  • Capacity: Pick a wallet that can fit your most essential credit cards and some spare cash if needed, and avoid getting a bigger wallet than you need. An unnecessarily large wallet can result in unused space, potentially have more points of entry for water to get in, or can weigh you down in wet conditions.

  • Ease of use: At the end of the day, you want your essentials to be safe and easily accessible. Make sure your wallet can accommodate your essentials and hits a balance of access and security you’re comfortable with.

Waterproof vs water-resistant: what’s the difference?

It’s important to highlight the slight nuance between waterproof (or weatherproof) and water-resistant (or weather-resistant) when it comes to your EDC wallet.

Truly waterproof wallets can keep their contents completely dry by not letting any moisture get inside. These products often have Ingress Protection ratings, more commonly seen as IP ratings.

IP (and sometimes IPX) ratings indicate how much they protect against moisture getting inside so you can better understand how the product is intended to be used. A high rating, such as IP67, is functionally waterproof for EDC needs, meaning you can submerge it underwater. An IPX-6 rating would protect well against splashes and rain, but wouldn’t protect against prolonged submersion, for example.

It’s also worth noting that some wallets are made of waterproof material but designed or constructed so that they aren’t completely waterproof as a whole. For example, you can have a wallet made with high-performance technical sailcloth in a traditional bifold design. While water can’t penetrate the sailcloth material itself, it can still get between the slots of the bifold since that design is “open.” Still, it’s a water-resistant wallet, thanks to the materials used. A wallet with a sealed waterproof zipper, for example, would protect against water getting in even better.

Can I Make My Wallet Waterproof?

Now that you understand the differences between waterproof and water-resistant, you might be wondering if you can somehow make your current wallet waterproof.

The short answer is no, unfortunately. That’s because the waterproofness of the wallet largely depends on the materials used, the design of the wallet itself, and the way it’s constructed, making it practically impossible to waterproof your wallet on your own properly.

That’s why we’ve put together this list of the best waterproof wallets and water-resistant wallets worthy of your EDC.

Your wallet is one of the most essential pieces of gear you can carry, so it’s important to pick one that meets your needs as well as enables you to be smarter with your EDC. Paring down the number of business cards, credit cards, and cash you bring around can help, but the kind of wallet you carry matters a lot as well. Switching to a slim front pocket wallet is a great way to reduce size, bulk, and discomfort, and being able to EDC your card wallet in your front pocket makes it easier to secure while on the move. More durable or technical materials can also ensure a lifetime of usability and reliability. In this guide, we’re rounding up some of the best EDC wallets for you to consider. Each of them is exceptional in its own category, and all of them deserve a place in your everyday carry.

How to Choose the Best EDC Wallet For You

Of course, depending on a person’s preference, what’s best for them may vary, but we have a short list of things to consider in buying the best type of everyday carry wallet for you:

  • Product durability: A broken-down wallet that can’t hold your cards and cash isn’t a useful one, so choosing a durable wallet that will last a lifetime of use is an important consideration.
  • Wallet space / Capacity: Consider the absolute must-haves you carry day to day. Do you have a lot of ID or bank cards, or do you carry a lot of cash? These will determine how much (and how well) a wallet can carry them.
  • Materials used: Everyone is familiar with the timeless leather wallet or leather card holder, but modern technology now allows manufacturers to create much more durable and premium wallets out of materials that won’t break down over time. You have hundreds of options, including everything from technical billfolds to tactical wallets made of aerospace-grade aluminum.
  • Can fit most pockets: Just like other EDC tools, a bulky wallet that’s hard to carry is one that will be left at home, or worse, be actually carried and do a number on your pockets or your back. A good EDC wallet is one that can easily slip into or out of your pockets while still able to carry all your essentials.
  • Lightweight: And like bulk, weight is also something to consider, as a heavy wallet can be inconvenient or uncomfortable to use.

The Ridge is back with another addition to their ever-growing line of attractive designs for their signature wallet with their latest release: The Ridge Burnt Damascus Wallet. Paying homage to the legendary material, the Ridge Burnt Damascus Wallet utilizes modern 304 stainless steel, chemically engraved to achieve the unique patterns that Damascus steel is known for. Physical vapor disposition (PVD) is used for the burnt effect, which adds a dynamic spectrum of colors similar to their previous release, The Ridge Wallet Burnt Titanium. It’s a difficult process that took years to perfect, but the result is an eye-catching design that speaks for itself and looks even better in hand.

Is it made from “true” Damascus steel? Well, no. And neither would you need (or want) it to be. This is a wallet, after all, not a weapon to vanquish your enemies with. Damascus blades are known for their unparalleled sharpness, which is not a characteristic you’d want in a wallet. And unlike the multiple layers of carbon steel used in a Damascus blade, the 304 stainless steel used in the Ridge Wallet is scratch-resistant, rust-proof, and more suited to environments that would corrode standard carbon steel, all while maintaining the bombproof durability and standard of quality that Ridge Wallets are known for.

There’s a reason the Ridge Wallet is a fan-favorite among those looking to replace their bulky bifolds with a more compact, minimalist solution. It can hold up to 12 cards without stretching out; it’s highly versatile with the optional money clip or cash strap, and it blocks RFID to prevent wireless theft. Its lifetime warranty is a testament to The Ridge’s confidence in the Ridge Wallet’s build quality and guarantees a lifetime to forge your own EDC story.

Whether you think the Damascus-inspired design looks cool (who doesn’t?), or you’re looking to add Ridge’s latest, greatest, and most complex design yet to your collection, pick yours up from the link below.

It’s a big EDC market out there, and tons of awesome gear is released all the time. We made The Drop to help you discover the latest and greatest essentials worth a spot in your EDC.

As much as we love maintaining our tools, we shouldn’t forget about maintaining the most important working machine we own: our hearts. Arrhythmias or irregular heartbeats that go unchecked can damage our heart, brain, or other organs, leading to a life-threatening stroke, heart failure, or cardiac arrest.

Modern medical technology like the KardiaMobile Card means we don’t have to schedule a doctor’s appointment for an electrocardiogram or EKG when we feel something might be wrong. The KardiaMoile Card is a portable credit card-sized personal EKG that you can easily slip in your wallet or bag so you can record accurate, medical-grade EKG readings in seconds, no matter where you are. You don’t even need a WiFi connection to do it. The card connects to your mobile phone wirelessly through Bluetooth, where you get clear readings on your phone’s screen.

What we like: What’s not to like about a portable medical-grade EKG that detects up to six of the most common arrhythmias, including atrial fibrillation? And it’s perfectly EDC-sized, something everyone can keep on their person at all times.

What to watch out for: The KardiaMobile Card is not tested or recommended for use with pacemakers and ICDs, nor does it check for signs of a heart attack.

Final verdict: While we’re always hoping we’ll never need to use it, it’s one of those things that we’ll be glad to have just in case we do. And with a form factor we’re all familiar with, it’s an easy thing to add to your wallet loadout.
